LoK RPG (Fan Project)

Disclaimer: No relation at all to the LoK team, this is purely a fan project.

Here's a little side project I was messing around with while teaching myself RPG Maker. I've only worked on it a couple weeks (off-and-on) and it's still in the very early stages, but I thought I'd post what I have to get feedback and see if people like the style.

The game follows the same basic story as LoK, though I imagine they'll diverge once LoK starts doing crossovers. Krystal is stranded on an alien planet and violated by reptiles and other beasts.

So far I've got a few sex scenes in (all very text-heavy) and a stab at some combat animations which I'll probably re-do later, as they look horrible right now. The sprites are also temporary, as I've had trouble replicating RPG Maker XP's sprite style (the current Krystal sprite is my first poor attempt.) To make up for that, there are a lot of CGs showing all manner of actions in the game.

The current version of the game can be downloaded here. It's made in RPG Maker XP, so you'll need the English RTP installed to play it. I believe you can get the RTP here. (make sure to click the RPG Maker XP tab before downloading.)

It's hard to say for sure when I'll next have time to update it, but in the meantime I'm open to feedback or suggestions. Is this style of game appealing to you? What could make it better?

Great style so far. RPG Maker has some good potential for porn games (Just look at Legend of Queen Opala).

Everytime I play the game, it'll come up with an audio error and close out my game, is there a way to fix that?

I'm getting the same issues. Seems that when the exe file runs it changes some of the SE Audio files are renamed based upon the english setting of the PC. Only things I can think of to fix this is change the loction settings of the PC or rename the files and edit the scripts.

this is why i generally don't like games made in RPGmaker, you get strange bugs. I hope the issues can get resolved and the OP keeps up the work, maybe we can covert the game to flash or something later when it's finished, just for ease of use for everyone.

The audio file for picking up the shiny object outside of the cave seems to be corrupt upon extraction, which is what causes the crash. Re-upload, please? Looks GREAT from the few moments I played. The overworld sprites are kinda lacking, but that's the bane of all RPGmaker games.

EDIT: I think it's all Item-Get sounds. Unplayable until fixed.

I stumbled upon some sprites of krystal here http://www.spriters-resource.com/custom_edited/starfox/sheet/31867 they are a bit darker than your cut scene krystal but a few seconds in photoshop could fix that. The website I searched is http://www.spriters-resource.com/ I had this weird notion awhile back to make a pokemon porn game like the old red version so I needed sprites and stumbled on the web page. I dont think anyone minds if you use the sprites there, but you may want to check first.

Hmm - I did rip a couple of the sounds and I think they had japanese characters in the names, so that's probably the reason why it worked for me. I'm away from my computer this weekend, but I'll upload a working version as soon as I can. Sorry about that.

Just curious, are people with japanese regional settings able to run the game?

Odd that that would happen, as japanese characters are just bytes to the computer like anything else, it shouldn't cause any problems except when rendering it as a text when it can't find a suitable font to display with. But then Windows' multi-language support has always been pretty shit.

Good effort though, I'll be interested to see how this progresses!

The game works perfectly with jap region settings but it's not the actual game that needs it but the extraction process from the exe, it screws up some of the japanese characters even with applocale. So the files themselves work fine just that the real name isn't there anymore. It is the same thing with winrar, winzip and in some cases 7zip when it comes to japanese characters.

Oh and just in case you haven't actually noticed the hp/sp regen from taking a bath don't work. Look forward to some more content and especially xp/lvl gains at that.

It looks good, in the screenshots, at least. Can't say anything else because RPGMaker games never worked here ;/

I'm actually crafting two RPGmaker games as we speak, and I can comfortably say -fuck- event systems. However, when next you import those audio clips, try to rename them something less-useless than moonspeak.
RPGMaker is very, very picky about file locations, and so when Japanese characters get auto-changed to English during file transfers, it freaks the fuck out and won't let you play unless EVERYTHING IS PERFECT KAWAII-DESUKA-CHAAAAAAAN~~~

or however they talk over there

That's pretty much the problem having with this atm too... The Japanese audio files or whatever, as when I try to pick things up or when those lizards use a certain grab, I get something like Audio (insert Japanese writing here).

Excellent work on the rpg, ever since Legend of Opala I have been on an RPGmaker game kick. This is one of the better ones, and its not too far into development ether. One of the problems I can point out in the first five minutes of playing is sometimes the text in the text boxes gets cut off, the words overflow the box and get cut off in mid word.

And as for some of the errors, try running in Japanese Unicode maybe? and the "ERROR- RGSS102E.dll could not be found" usually means you are using an older version of RPGmaker, you must have version 1.02 or later (I have v 1.03) to play.
