I take a short break for half a year and look at you go!
I can´t say anything else but that I am impressed!
I especilly like the orange multi-tails, you nailed the face.

Since we were talking about shadow last time I was around I would love to see how you have grown in the time I was away.
The Salve image show clear improvments, buuuut as someone that has been helping you out, I wanna point out the shadows in the hand.
If you want to, try rounding of the thumbs light, giving it a more "round" shape, also look in your hand, don´t forget the lines they give the hand its inner volume, adjust
the shadow/light to match and it will look better, even if it is only by a few pixels.

I have recently picked up drawing again, maybe in the future I might post an image or 2 I have made, would love to exchange ideas and critiqe with you, since that is the
best way to improve.... and boy do I need it...

If you have any suggestion on a good image host that allow "adult" images, and doesn´t steal the right to your images, let me know, else I think I need to regiester for a blog or something... I know some of them allow adult content.

I wish you the best of luck and once again you have really improved, and that is something every artist needs to hear, often if possible.
I will be keeping an eye on your other post, but since I posted in this before, I thought it was the best one to continue in.

Heh, I try my best to improve my craft :)
Thank you for the kind words!

The slave picture doesn't represent my current skill level i think.

This should be closer. Its from the game i'm working on with a couple of others. Games' called AoB: Monster Rising, click the link and you'l end up in our page here in LoK.

I cant show you any newer works as they are part of the game and still not officially released, tough paterons atm can have a sneakpeak on some of the stuff me an the other artist have created for the game.

what i can show you is something ive worked on whenever im not working on the game itself. Just a little here and there

Ive been at it for a long time. Adding, removing and editing on it little bits at a time for one day to hopefully be a really good piece :)

For possible image hosting sites e621 i think is a good place to post your art. They seem to have good protection.

Just pop your art in here and we'l have a looksie :)

At this moment i dont do frame by frames, tough i havent forgotten them since i like to do them a lot and it feels they also improve me as an artist (frame by frame requiring you to draw the same thing over and over again).

Here's the frame by frame runnin on the current free build of the game :)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Frame by frames wont be the main focus for animation in the game tough, since it is very time consuming.

Looks like I need to add another game to my "watch list" That is impressive, not a fan of the claws, but saw the name so I guess that explains alot :P

Registered on the site, now all I need to do is wait a week before I can upload something. Thank good my first 2 images since I started drawing again was of a troll... if I had made a human I wouldn´t be able to post even then...
Never been good at drawing animals, or animal like humans... but I guess this is a good reason to start learning :P

Frame to frame is a lot of work but even so you have made something really nice, something that I honestly don´t have the patience to do.
Used to be able to model and animate in 3d, but it have been so many years. For now I will stick to trying get back into drawing, I only wish I could find a nice vector program,
making flats and such would be so much easier if I could simply fill upp the area and not have to draw the edges with a fine pencil. To bad flash/illustrator has gone subscription, else I would be looking into them.
For now, I will stick to krita, but apparently they have added a animation feature, and vector tools are on the way.

Going around this forum really stimulates me for some reason... (in a way that I want to get back to drawing and animating again... have been a while.)

Well keep up the good work, saw that you stream sometimes when you draw, will have to try to catch that sometime.
Best of luck!

You could try out inkscape. Its a bit hard to understand (was for me) but its fully vector :)

Heh yeah thats the only backside of e621, tough it never really bothered me. Of course it means my human drawing skills aren't that great compared to furry ones.

I will check out inkscape, heard about it, never used it.
I also uploaded 4 images, or should I call em "sketches" to 621, right now they are all "pending moderator approval" but once that passes you should be able to find em if you search "duoiz" as an artist.
Doing em, I found I really need to get better at faces, hair and hands, so right now I am off to youtube to look up some tutorials.
I hope to hear what you think.
I´ll probably download incscape while I´m at it.

Your stuff looks interesting. Would like to see more :)
You seem to have trouble creating the upper torso, or that's at least my view on it. How do you draw? I mean in the ways on how do you build it. How many sketch layers you usually do before you go with the final lines?

Theres two main ways imo: one way is to start from the beginning so to say;
Stickmen, meatmen, add hair and other stuff then clothes. This method requires you to know what, who and how you draw, otherwise it might look strange.

The other way is to create a rough shape of what you want to make, make a new layer and draw on top of that rough shape, make it more defined each time. This works better if you dont excactly know the answers for the questions earlier as it lets you more easily alter the drawing during the "building phase".
Also as plagueofgripes says: Flip the shit of the drawing all the time.
You draw at an angle, everyone does. This means the drawing might end up distorted and that stuff will never look good, unless you call it abstract art.
All in all id say you got the general "feel" of the body right. But you should spend more time in the building phase.
like for example the piece ive worked on a little bit every now and then. If you put all the hours together. I probably have spent about 4 hours on it already and as you can see its nowhere finished yet.

The trick in bulding your piece is not to follow the lines youve made but look at them and think how could i make this part look better, if you cant find that yet. make the line thinner, more refined. Then look again. Repeat this process until you either run out of patience/time or you simply cant find anything worth improving (that should never happen, unless you're equivalent to a picasso or something).

I hope these little tips help you about, or anyone else for that matter! :)

Also if youve never dabbled in vectors and stuff, it can get overwhelming fast. I used to draw first using krita or sai and then import that picture into inkscape. then draft over it. Remember to think of vector like shapes that you put above, under, cut and glue on each other. Dont try to draw the same way you draw "normally". It might work at first but eventually you'l be stuck.

Also on another note you could try use a binary or a pixel pen when you line your work, then use magic wand or something similar to select the inside of your drawing and color that way. it should work as long as your lines surround the thing with at least 1 pixel and because binary/pixel pencil is sharp you wont get any of those annoying white things when you bucket around.

The 4 images I posted used a technic I found on youtube, it isn´t exactly stickfigure or meatmen, it is more like boxes, 2 boxes with a ball to build the torso.
Since I have a big problem drawing things at an angle or even from the front and still have volume to the parts I found this technic helpful, honestly it is probably some of my best work, that is why I don´t feel I am good enough yet to be able to use the drawings for anything but sketches.
I want to one day be good enough to atleast draw images for a rpgmaker game. (sprite art will be a pain in the ass but I will work on it).

I normaly start by drawing the "stickman" after drawing that untill I am happy with it, then I redraw it 2-3times, if there is more then 1 char in the image I do this with diffrent colors for each char, and then I start on the line work, once that is finished I start redrawing the outline with a thick pen, and then go onto flats, on a lower layer.
The tip about the line work with a "pixelpen" is something I will take to the heart, that way I will have ALOT less work with doing the flats... coloring them from edge to edge by hand is not something that I would never recommend, but the filling tool was giving me trouble, but using a pixelpen will solve that one. Nice tip!

I will probably also end up doing more concept art images before trying to draw a char from now on. I usally just draw and see who comes upp, but having a clear image of who I am to draw before hand, even if that char is a made up person, will probably help alot.

I did dabble with vectors back in 2000 but alot has happend since then, and most is forgoten, I do however know about the part that I can´t use a normal drawing style/workflow with a vector based program. Perhaps drawing characters in parts, as if I was to use them for animations, would be nice pratice, probably a step to take between concept and first real image, to get a better feel for the parts.

Since I did talk alot about shadows and stuff like that before, I find I bit cheeky asking this, but do you have any comment on that part?

In terms of your shading i dont really have anything to say. You didnt use that much shading but the ones you used were in the right spot imo and fitted with the overall quality of the pieces. Thing you should move away form is using completely white highlights, as those make the skin (or fur) look very plastic and latexy. Also make them bigger and more opaque.

One neat trick i picked up is to use a multiply layer on low opaque with a color of your choosing. This brings the picture more to life, or not. Depending on the color you chose :)

A good way to improve in your arts is to actually look at other artists. ( i think i might've said this before either here or somewhere else) You can even trace the piece a couple of times youre looking at. Wait a while, grab a snack and try to draw it again from memory. do this a couple of times and you start to implement stuff from the piece into your own style.

You should also frequently switch the way you draw. like you drew the last ones in a "stickman" way. Ofc you should find the way you like most but its good to mix up thing every now and then. This improves your skills (try to make a piece without lines for example) because you learn to think in a new way. and once you return to your "normal" way this new thinking gets implemented to your style, refining it.

How do you visualize the piece youre drawing in your head. Are you able to "look" at it in a 3d way, twist and turn it in your head, look at it from different angles? This helps the entire process of drawing.

I usally go for porn when practicing, it sounds wierd, but it is quite hard to find willing subject for drawing nude models, while on the other hand there are alot of places offering free porn, tracing photos of people, divding them into parts
(sounds like I am a total psyco... but I meant it in a way were I turn them into boxes other shapes.... ...still sounds psyco.. but I hope you understand what I mean.)
Problem is most drawn images are gloryfied, butts/chest and so on doesn´t really match reality... especialy the spine/back area, if you know what I mean. (avanger poster anyone?)
Image
(thanks google search)
One way I use is turn on a video, and for every scene change I give my self 4-5mins to quickly sketch the image, then go onto the next and so on... I do amit however that this style isn´t for everyone, not everyone can look at porn and see it as reference material and not people having sex.

When it comes to twisting and turning that isn´t a problem, aslong as it is general shaped, balls, cones, boxes, but when it comes to things like faces I have a hard time seeing them as 3d, I kinda see them like bad 3D CG, with a plasterd on face. Pointing that out gives me some thoughts, but I can´t really see a face in 3d, a nose is one thing, ball, bone, box. Eyes, balls, but a face doesn´t really show those shapes, especialy not a drawn face. A nose that is acctully built like a "real" nose doesn´t really look good in a drawn image imo. unless you go for realistic/portait. Ears are not that hard, but the face... I need to do something about that... strange thing is, I know the shape of the face, I have worked in 3d programs making faces and such, but even then it doesn´t match a drawn face.
Thing is most drawing tutorials for faces are the same, start with ball/orb, add lines, jawline, add eyes, nose mouth line... but non of them treats the face as an 3d surface... even turning it to 2/3 view it is more or less "here is how you do it from this angle", a drawn face can never really be rotated in 3d... atleast for me, suggestions or a good tutorial to adress this would be welcome, if you know of any. Or perhaps this is why alot of people draw furrys, a snout has a lot of clearer lines compare to a drawn human nose.

As for the highlights, truth be told I "Stole" the color palete from a drawn anime image of a pro (pro= in this case, someone living of their work), as in the colors. There for the white highlights... I do realise however that the white was overdoing the highlights, only someone drenched in sweat should have white highlights, and even then, maybe not totaly white.
My current "style", if I can even call it that, is more western then asian, and the color palete, even if it is good, isn´t a match...
I will also look into how to do highlights on hair... atleast that should be doable compare to the face thing... on that I don´t even know where to start.

I will see If I mange to turn out something not horrible and when I do I will post a short msg here.

PS
It is nice to have someone to talk about this with, people around me would look at me pretty strange if I told em I was drawing nudes or even porn as a hobby...

Re: Jumbo70's Art Garden

It is always good to have one you can speak/write/talk to about art. How you draw compared to them. What kind of styles they use. But its important to not try to see "whos better" because everyone has their own way of drawing. Others may have refined their way more compared to others but no artist is a bad artist, in the ways of how their piece looks like. Some may be bad mentally but that's a whole different story

This anaconda got none unless you got buns hun.

Ive tried my best to self educate myself in the makings of art and how to create eye appealing art. The thing is art is not supposed to be realistic in ways of proper body build and so on to be visually appealing to the majority of the consumers. If you pick a picture of a attractive good lookin person (pamela anderson in the younger years or just search pretty dress in google and you should end up with what could be considered as voluptuous curvy women) and then try to trace out the build of the body underneath all the clothes. The body isnt that curvy (ofc here you need to be sure the picture is not photo shopped)

This all ofc isnt a big issue if you go for realism but this more cartoony way of drawing "cant" have completely realistic body proportions to be seen as appealing.

Its great you got the body in the 3d turner in your head :) try to squeeze the head in there too. This really helps when you create art. I was lucky as ive always been able to see stuff as 3d. Even myself. You could try to "map" yourself when you walk on the streets. Ask yourself how would just this exact moment look if you were looking at yourself from a "gta2" perspective, straight from the top. Ofc this requires you to know your surroundings a bit but you could always imagine things into existence, if you don't know what actually is behind that building or so. You could also look at "difficult" objects in real life. Try to think how it looks from the other side or angle, then turn it around or walk around it and check how close you were. Seeing things in 3d is crucial, especially during the shading phase.
Ofc you can always memorize things but it might get boring after a while because you do things from memory, not from trial and error thus not really improving yourself. Just your memory.

Stealing is a word id avoid since there are a lot of social justice keyboard warriors very quickly blaming you for plagiarism, even tough at this time it would be nearly impossible to create something truly unique. As most has already been done. Doesent matter if youve seen it or not. I prefer the word loan. There is nothing wrong in using reference images (or colors), this took a long time for me to understand.

If you have problems coming up with something to draw, id suggest creating a simple generator in paper. For example:
Make 4 categories with 6 different options.
category 1 controls how many persons are in the drawing.
category 2 controls the gender of the persons for example, dice value 1: all female, value 2: all male, value 3 half male, half female, value 4 herms, etc.
category 3 controls the Lewdness, 1 being no lewdy and 6 being hardcore bondage stuff.
lastly category 4 controls the environment, Outside, inside, forest, beach and so on.^

you could add more categories in this to make a more "precise generator", a category controls extras like horns wings or another that controls races like human, wolf, cat.
This way your "toughts" wont controll what you want to draw instead you let someone else decide for you. Call it fate or a fictive commissioner, doesn't matter.

heres a spinny i created with some help from the other artist in our team :)

I kinda feel like I wanna start up blender and try to make your char in it, very nice side/frontview porportions, ofc this would be strickly hobby/pratice.
It has been a good many years since I last did something, never really felt an "itch" but now I do... :D
Since you are currently working on it, I still feel I should ask before I do anything, even if it would be, at most, just simple fanart.

The generator stuff sound like a good idea, seeing how it would be easy to create a simple script for it I think I will do just that, just for practicing...
Since I have some jscripting know-how I should be able to pull it off... If I do I will post it here on the forum as a new thread for other artist to use/to get more ideas for categories.
But it will have to wait untill I have some time to spare. It is nice to feel creative but doing everything at once will easly burn one out, and I don´t want that, not right now...

Also, posted a new image, displaying my workflow: Tried linking it here, but since it is quite big, it didn´t work that well.. check out e621-DuoIz to see it.

Also, since I read your opener, I really hope I havn´t said anything to offend you, internet and plain text leads to alot of missunderstandings, since there is no bodylanguage at all. I am still a fan of your work, and any critisim I give is given only in a hope to debate and or promote groth, because of that I try to keep everything I say to constructive feedback, with suggestions and or examples, when commeting, however I do tend to rant on a bit sometimes...
Anyway, just as you say there are alot of styles and ways out there, and even if I should saysomething like "you might wanna check this out", it is ment only as a "this look cool, check it out" and never "this is better then yours, eat it".

Truth be told I have a style I want to draw with, or atleast emulate, but I have since long ago lost both the artist name and any reference/link to his/her work. Well in due time I might stuble upon it again, untill then I will have a look at GuriHiru´s work, I like his style (he draws gwenpool comic for marvel, also did some avatar, if not all O_o)
example:
Image once again curtizy of google
never mind, the forum doesn´t like this link.. just google it :P there are plenty of his work out there if you wanna se what I am talking about.

Oh and for the stealing bit... I will keep the word "borrow" in mind, the internet is a harsh place.

I wrote a long reply but i lost it because it took too long for me to write it..
oh well, lets do it again :D . Shorter this time tough. Sorry.

You didn't offend me in any way, don't worry about it. I said what i said because there is quite a lot of bad manners out there. And id like it to stop (here not so tough, which I'm grateful for)
Also one has to be very persistent to actually manage to offend me :)

Using 3d software like blender could help you get your inner 3d machine up to speed and also in overall help you build better bodies when you draw :)
I'm all up for you to try to make a model of the spinner i showed, would be nice to see it in actual 3d.

I did a very elaborate text wall on the things you could improve on but as its already past midnight I'äm going to make it shorter: sorry if it comes as cold.
The colors you used were too bright, too vibrant. The palette itself was a good choice but colors should have been more dull to make it look better.
Shades very pretty good but the highlight shades were still too bright and too narrow.
You nailed the line-work, good job! If something should be improved on it, id suggest increasing the size of the hands a bit. otherwise no complaints. 4 sketch layers is quite little, but it worked for you so not going to write anything more now on them.
You lost the line-work on the holster and the leather color was too close to the main skin color of the lizard. Maybe a more darker duller color would have worked better?

Everyone hits a block sometimes, especially if they go guns blazing after a long break, you'l run out of ammo in no time and you don't have a ammo box yet to reload from.
Ive hit a number of art blocks and motivation drop.
For me, art blocks are highly annoying as i loose the ability to even create basic shapes. Most times time is the only thing that heals these (also check that i'm not overdosing on coffe.. hrmm...)

Motivation drops are a bit harder to counter as they might happen anytime. To battle this i usually think about why i draw and what is the purpose of it. Reason why i draw is for the people and the purpose is to create art that the people enjoy (i sound like a politician with these choices of words)
Also another motivator is the infamous dosh. Dosh lets you get better gear or alcohol.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON-7v4qnHP8

The style on the picture is very efficient. A style worth pursuing :)
Borrow works well.

Hello!

Long time no see!
Havent drawn anything really in a loong while. Buut meaby, just meaby i can turn that thing around slowly again. Creating art with my very "well" managed schedule is hard. Time i reserve for art gets gobbled up by a project were working on in cbs, yes our patreon is dead cuz pateron stuff and weve been really quiet for a really long time, but were moving forward all the time, i think that is the main point.

Anyways, here is a WIP project ive been working on the past few days, memebers in the LoK discord channel mightve seen this also, but I think this should get here aswell :)

As always, Constructive feedback is highly sought after and wished for, so please if you have anything to say about this, good or bad. Please do tell.

My goal in this particular piece is to create an art piece, completly without the use of lines, only colors and shadows and lights, both hard and soft. So far i think ive done good progress.

As for the character itself, she is called Scream, a Symbiote created from Venom, this be canon. Check yourself if interested on knowing more (well actually not sure if still canon cuz of venom movie reboot n stuff)

Working on something personal.

Trying to create an character.
Atm i got the basic looks and name figured out but pretty much everything else is still in the open like clothes or any special patterns n stuff.

Name is Meri and she wears a wristwatch, cuz im bad at time management.

I'm letting Meri cook for a bit longer before i plan on anything for certain on her.
Meanwhile im trying to do something similiar to an iron artist challenge. 1 piece every two days. day 1 for sketch and most lines. day 2 for rest of lines and color/shade.
Im hoping this will help me to create more dynamic and interesting poses aswell as improving my craft in various possible ways.

Beep boop!

I failed inktober in that i didnt do any preparation for the images i wanted to draw.
This resulted in that i only managed to get out rough sketches, which actually hurted my ability to draw :? oops!

So!
Now i finally fixed my pencils, rubbers and inks so that i could finaly draw on pen n paper again. It goes wayys faster than with computer, and hopefully this will help me get better in the long run or atleast help me with getting the right line the first time. instead of draw undo draw undo draw undo draw procedure that i got going on. I also want to feel more relaxed when i draw, hope this will help with that too.

Three pages worth of stuff with the themes of different body parts in focus.
So far ive done faces, hips/butt and chest. What should i go with next?
