just for my own fun and maybe to test it all out for my self im going back to do the dark side of the questing see what works and not if any

*EDIT* oh god im hating playing the dark side it's no fun being the bad guy and being evil

I finally registered for this forum *because* of this game.

I wasn't sure how cheesy it would be at first, but it's sucked me right in! Well done--I love how gameplay choices you make *actually matter*. This game has really grown on me, so huzzah to the Harem team!

Bugs I've noticed (and yeah, if these are already common knowledge, forgive me for reiterating)
--The name thing that starts popping up in Eowin (conversations will randomly refer to me as "Ralph" no matter what my chosen name is)
--In the W. Corsix jail, Phoebe is briefly in two places at once: the bathroom and the reception desk.
--The fishing boat will reset its location when you first get to the mainland; no matter where you land, it pops to a certain location on the beach after a little while.
--And of course the usual grammar and spelling quibbles.

--And oh, yeah... Anybody else have a problem accidentally skipping text when you're walking down and an event triggers? Maybe there's a better hotkey candidate for quickly skipping through dialogues...

Yeah, that happens to me quite often, as well.
I'm not sure it's a concious choice of ker, though, I've seen the same with other RPGmaker games.

Heh, took me a bit of time to find my own project with the forum switcharoo.

-In 0.6b the text skip will be re-assigned to shift instead of down. So you shouldn't accidentally miss large amounts of text because you happened to be walking down. It's also more symmetrical as RPG-VX does fast combat with shift by default (at least I think it's default). The text skip is a custom script, not standard in VX.
-Before the tram sequence any name reference issue is a bug. Let me know where they happen.
-There is a distinct 'fuck it' moment as I was trying to arrange world events during Phoebe trying to rescue her sister. That isn't likely to change.
-You used to be able to trap yourself on the island before the hearthstone so the boat resets to it's default position on the island. A bit jarring but similar to above.
-Editing is an on-going process. I've changed my workflow to hopefully reduce the amount of issues with it.

i have been watching and waiting for awhile i love this game.
btw i never did finish the dark side of the story i hate what my girls are doing and what i was doing to them lol
just cant get into it amazing game all in all

Let's see... Pretty much every conversation in Eowin (especially with the Circle Guild, I think) had buggy name issues.

When I first entered the Mines of Corsix, there was this weird event triggered. Out of the blue: "Withdrawing your sword from the heart of the beast..." I don't remember exactly what all it said, but it seemed like it should have been part of the fight in the tunnel around the blockade, as it involved Angelica and strange fungus.

Once, after choosing the bad-guy option to fight the Tentacle King, I still had Jessica locked into my party.

And it's kind of weird that you walk up to a guy, and rather than dialogue, it immediately asks, "Do you want to ask about explosives?" :P

Keep up the good work--I can't wait to get home and show my wife your game!

Ah, crap. And I forgot to mention that the event in the archaeologist's tent triggered again for me when I tried to go back inside a second time.

Finished the game so far, and can't wait for the next expansion!

Couple more issues:
Why does the main character have crazy-eyes all the time? His expression seems to say, "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'm a-gonna EAT YOUR FACE!!!" (Edit: Okay I take that back. On the tram, he actually has a couple of different expressions: "Wow! Your face is delicious!" and "Arrrrgh! This face is too tough to chew!")

And they're calling me "Willis" again when I first get to the Cheli village after digging the well... And the chief is still just as gruff as ever afterward.

Fight with kathleen, terra's text overflows the box. And that should probably come a little later in the fight, so only the really stupid people get a hint.

Threw me for a loop when the mayor in W. Corsix said he'd have people clear the path, but then there was the big column of fire. I spent a while trying to make sure I wasn't going the wrong way! A little dialogue to explain that there was more than just a cave-in would be nice.

A couple of dialogues leading up to and after the tentacle king fight have a different portrait for the guard-captain.

Invisible walls in dirt area in north of E. Corsix

E. Corsix cathouse--doors open briefly w/message "the door is locked" then close again.

Why does a pole-dancer have a vote in the noble council? Just wondering...

When I went to revive Donnie, it said I "helped her to her feet."

P.S. I love how the music in the Northern Grove is from Zelda II.

P.P.S. Do you guys need another proofreader? I'd love to help clean up the text...

@Throbby IDK about everything else, but the part about 'Withdrawing your sword from the heart of the beast' was probably because when you killed the tentacle beast in the passage to Western Corsix, it probably dropped some fungus. So as soon as you entered the cave, you got the event that's supposed to start in the cave, which leads to Angelica brewing you a potion to boost your strength.

It did indeed drop fungus! Actually, every time I played through there, I picked up fungus from the tentacle beast.

I'll respond to feedback in the next day or two, but I just wanted to clear up an issue that some players were having with capturing Noemi. To capture her you have to give her the means to escape the jail in Western Corsix and have cleared the Corsix passage to the point where "Tentacle Cave 1" is cleared (the lights will come back up and no more mobs will spawn). The actual event to trigger her escape is in Western Corsix. If both conditions are met her switch will be thrown and if you go back to your chambers in the fortress she'll appear.

Alright, getting back to the grindstone.

Throbby -
-Thanks for the updates on name issues, I'll try to clean those up before 6b.
-If I was pretentious enough to consider myself an artist, it would only be as a writer. For any graphics beyond what VX/3DCG provide I have to beg, borrow, and steal what I can find and accept them as is. Ralph's emotive faces are the best that I was able to find.
-The feedback telling you how to beat Kathleen used to come later but too many testers couldn't figure it out. Even with it as early as it is, I still get quite a few comments/emails asking me how to get through that fight. I really hope those are non-english speakers that can't get what it's trying to say...
-Vanessa's character grew organically from the story and developed as I wrote 0.4. When I had started that sequence she was just a general and I used a RTP image for her.
-It's just Corsix btw. Ratan's are snobby like that. But not sure what area you're referring to.
-Ariel is more than a pole dancer. Think high class courtesan more than stripper. Her character will be fleshed out a bit more in 0.6c.
-Whoops, wrote the revive text before there were any captureable males.
-Doors have always been an issue for me.
-If you are interested in a proof-reader I'd really prefer that you could work independently of me. Which would require you having RPG-Maker VX. Send me a PM for more info if you're interested.
-And I'd love to know what your wife thought of the game as well.

Dragon
-I'm nowhere near the point of testing. Probably won't get to that stage this year. Nor do I need if I'll even need testers. If I do, I'll post here and in the blog about it and ask for applications then. Apply then.

Riddle
-You may be able to customize a controller so it does the right keypresses for VX, but I'm not aware of any other way.

Corsix "invisible walls" When the harem is wandering around trying to save Our Hero, go north toward the tunnel. There's an area with bare dirt ground and two wooden buildings. Counting from the west/left-hand building's door, there are squares that appear empty, but you cannot enter: second square down, two down and one to the left, three down and one left, 3-d and 2-L, 4-d and 2-L, 4-d and 3-L.

I fixed the direct Ralph references in Eowen, but I didn't see any in the Cheli Village. Will be part of 0.6b. Any other naming issues that you all have noticed?
