given that YummyTiger essentially left here in a huff when people started whining about updates on a free game, rather doubt Yummy is going to post here again...

Since I basically started that "whine" thing - I'll share my thoughts about it.

Disclaimer: I've never meant to offend YummiTiger.

I was saying " that i'd be pissed if I was on his patreon".

Well some might understand that in a way, where you take money from people and deliver ( or not).
But thats not what I was trying to say.

My point was actually meant different.

Well I do understand that he wants to create the best possible game that he can possibly create - and thats a good thing.

So when I'm supporting someone on Patreon - for me its not like "Take your money and give me my porn". Its more like "take this money while you create it, I'll back you up, because I love the things you create and I want to support that".

As we all know by now, he asked people on his Patreon to not give him any money until something gets released, which is honorable.
The "pissed" point was just about the fact, that so many people have shown him great support, still support him after hearing many, many release dates.
You dont give him any money - but you show him " Hey YT when its done, I'll keep supporting you - with money this time. "
And then you read that he decided to finish Hunter's Quest first. Sure it is his decision - how questionable that may be.

I know that working that long on one thing really gets to somebody sooner or later and you try to change.
But many people (including me) were never so damn hyped about an H-Game than this one before. You're honestly just disappointed because you waited so god damn long to get your free porn, then the creater decides once again otherwise.

As stated above - just wanted to clarify my words. No Offense YT. Still checking every frickin day and hope for a release - and I'll probably do that every single day because I fucking want to play it so bad.
You dont do it for the money, which is wonderful - but you're missing out so many possible opportunities and $$$.

I might have gotten pissed awhile back, I don't really recall, tbh. I'm sure I defended things passionately, as I tend to get overly passionate at times.

I didn't stop posting here on purpose, I just didn't have anything exciting to post. I've been working on the game and HQ. I did put up a progress chart on Patreon (a public post), this will be my way of letting people know where the project is. Hopefully, it should also show you the sheer amount of work that has gone into it. I'd not tallied things in awhile, so it was even a little surprising to me, I thought the numbers were a bit lower actually. Looking like 38 base CGs for the next release (9 of those were already in the prologue--although this does include things like the Aylia crystal pic and the arm/rune pic). Tons of standing portraits, 8 skill graphics that vary by pride, 11 enemies, about half of which have a unique h-attack. So, there are lots of things to look forward to exploring.

Also, the "Early 2017" is my hope for the complete game, not chapter 1. I'm really aiming to get on a 2-3 month release schedule. That would allow me to shift to full time, would allow me to bring on a programmer/scripter, and a spriter/artist. More bodies would only speed things up. As for the Hunter's Quest release, I only put Hunter's Quest first for about 4 days at the end of May. That's why it is still not released, because it has remained a side project throughout June.

I've had my own ideas for games. The plot and characters are usually darker than my jokes, but it would have its moments, I guess.
Problem with those games is I don't have anyone to help me with graphical elements; you know, art and UI, that sort of thing.
Also I may as well be as ambitious or perhaps even more so than YummyTiger. I wanted to do some sort Hybrid game between Crusader King's 2 and Mount and Blade.
Give the player the ability to do anything they want; from a lowly drunkard that rapes women to the Lordus Maximus with a harem of bitches bigger than Genghis Khan's
Good or evil; you know, a sort of game that you could go spend conquering the world of just sit about having fun, with porn on the side.

Really? Check programmers here who are using parthenon. some get more as nice few thousands $ per month. Usually you must register your bussiness and pay taxes. I am working in office and they take this part from my paycheck. Parthenon allow to skip it and go into grey zone. If you take under consideration they have legal jobs and games created here are only a hobby you see they get additional illegal profit very big. Free games not generate money so registration and taxes are unnesesary.

Absolutely incorrect. Patreon submits all your earnings to the appropriate tax collection agency. To pull out any money, you're required to give them the necessary identification information. All Patreon developers submit their earnings from Patreon and are taxed. In fact, since these are "private businesses", per se, they are taxed at an extremely high rate, I wager higher than what you pay at your job. Whether you give the game away for free or not is irrelevant to the IRS. If you collect money, they want their piece of that pie.

As for living off the income, you're posting in the wrong thread. I've collected one pledge in over 18 months and am on pace to make about $1.35 an hour once I release chapter 1. Not going to be living off that. Maybe in the future, if I get more experience and better organized. I'll need to trim the fat and get this sucker running more efficiently.

As for the forum becoming a trade market, welcome to the new, improved Western H-game market. Patreon is the reason you're even seeing all these options. Without it, you'd have maybe 2 or 3 fan projects that trickled along at a snail's pace (or a YummyTiger's pace...). The competition is already pushing people to be better, and it'll only get more cutthroat. In the meantime, a huge number of these Patreons are offering their products free, meaning you pay what you want. That does not seem so bad to me.

as for being broke, im in the broke ass corner also... yet not all ppl post patreon only on pateron. such as the progress chart. or for that matter some ppl also post the public dl for their games there. just because i cant afford to put money in doesnt mean i cant help in other ways... like posting a link when the op forgot to.

OK, if parteo users pay taxes there is no problem. Thing is, how much it temp you to PROLONG process? If you claimed game will be free and can only get money during creating game is not in your best interest to finish game quickly but prolomging process as much as possible?

No, Hunter's Quest will get released without another pledge. The April pledge was tied to that release, so it is already pledged. You can see the pledge status of games/translation on the first page of my Patreon.

I've said Chapter 1 will be a free release since this whole thing was announced (you know, back when we were all young and spry... well, at least John and Randomdude were...). So, the next pledge will be when Chapter 2 is ready. Sometime when Mars is colonized, Civilization 142 "Colonizing the Earth's core" is released, and Half-Life 2 episode 3...
