Aye. It was due out well over a year ago at this point. It really makes you question his prediction dates. He must operate on some kind of Valve time.

I am aware. I've been checking his patreon like fucking crazy these last few days, and it doesn't change my stance on the situation.

Like I can figure out how to navigate Paetron, the website is giving me a headache. What's Hunters Quest???

OI'm on his page and can't find any updates like I used to.


It's fully explained on his Pateon page - I'm really looking forward to it, as I love translated HRPGs, and his added art and scenes look really interesting.

I've had a couple people who have gotten angry and told me they were done. In my view, I don't understand it. They've not paid anything. I totally understand when you purchase a product and the developer fails to fulfill their end of the bargain, but we are talking about a FREE game. You literally can donate whatever you'd like, or donate nothing. I don't see what is worth getting angry about.

When you make a ETA for a game release, even if it would be a rough estimate as you do, it is a promise made to those who follow you and support you. Most of the people who donate do so not only to show their support, but because they hope that their support will serve as an encouragement to get the game done quicker, if possible, and make development less prone to delays. Even if they haven't really paid anything, seeing your release dates crumble again and again makes them angry, perhaps because they feel like their willingness to help is not being appreciated.
I don't grudge you at all; I know you are working on this mostly by yourself, and you'll have delays which we'll have to put up with, but I do share and sympathize with the discontent of those who are willing to pay up in support of the game.

If people are getting upset to the point that they are leaving your paetron page then simply updating a chapter or something will keep them happy. I'm not going bonkers over this cause I'm not donating lol. I know I would though if I was.

I dunno about Paetron, but I understand people lost heart, like DUke Nukem Forever.

They say "It's now guys" and then delayed.

You've done this several times and it can get upsetting to be hyped and then have it dashed down. If you had never set a date, it'd be fine.

But last year, you said March. Then April. Then June. Then you said probably August. Then you said December. Then you said January. Then you said March again, then you said no ETA. Then you said "Probably early May" after this...and here we are, May over, nowhere in site. So basically you've raised hopes again and again to dash them. Sure, it's on people to realize the game is free, and you have no real obligation to release it. But you set people up for disappointment, so obviously some are going to get upset.

There's no "even if they haven't really paid anything." Until last month, they had PAID NOTHING. Not kind of paid nothing, not paid just a little bit, I collected ZERO dollars. This is by far not the best business strategy, and I've given up thousands of dollars because I want to do right by the people willing to support me. Therefore, I refused to charge anything, at any point. I did not run 12 or 15 monthly cycles like a number of other games, I did not run pledges for small tech demos like the few games doing content-based approaches. No, I worked on the game for over a year, kept people updated on Patreon, ran content polls, posted Lore Posts, put up teasers, etc. without running any charges, because I'm not in this solely for the money.

I put up front in my Patreon page that I'm a stupidly optimistic person who is going to be prone to miss release targets. I stopped giving ANY release dates after I missed last August, but of course, people seem to think it is mandatory to do so. I turned down multiple posts asking, "when, when, when?" When I finally decided to give a rough estimate, it become an official release date. Mid-May was the first "official" release estimate I'd made since last year. I did so because I'm working part time, and thought I could guarantee myself plenty of time each week to work. I won't make that mistake again, because apparently, I still can't count on that. If I give a release date for Aylia's Story going forward, it is because the game is done and in final testing. That's it.

Ultimately, I say again, this is a free game. The vast majority of people who are "fed up" with the development are not supporters. They are people "fed up" with how long it is taking to get a free game. In my mind, I don't follow that logic. When I played Violated Heroine, Garnet, and the many other unfinished, free indie games, I simply enjoyed what I could play. Was I impatient for more? Sure, I was, but I never once got angry at the guy working to build me a free game. You're welcome to feel however you please. I can understand being frustrated, I can understand wanting the game, but, the notion that my supporters should be "quite pissed" struck me as overblown. I would agree if I ran a Patreon like nearly every single other h-game developer out there, where you pledge every month. Then, I'd expect to see progress every month, this is not the case.

Don't worry though, I won't post any more release estimates on LoK. That way, nobody can get frustrated when I miss them. It'll instead just be a pleasant surprise if one day you check and the game is released. I thank everyone for sticking with me, I do appreciate it.

Yea, you tell them YummyTiger, I agree with your logic and will wait years for any kind of game to be made properly, not cruddy and rushed.
I might not create games, but I will test them, Then I will give advice on what I think needs to be added, removed, or improved.
