I've been kinda thinking about making a game like SimBro with RPG Maker MV and 3D pre-rendered graphics. But I think I wouldn't be able to do randomly generated girls like this game does, it would all be specific characters like Julia and Oyko. So maybe more like Hentai Sim Brothel.

Depends on how you'd want to do it but it's certainly maneageable. I would have the personalities decide certain specialties on the girls and have the specific characters help with that. It's all about how the systems tie to each other.

Also looking into if it would be possible with Rpg Maker MV, but the snag I found would be the same as AceTheSuperVillan, the engine can't make girls with parts like simbro. Premade girls are no problem, and with the new dragonbone plugin it would be easy (read alot of work but not hard) to remake the game in RpgMakerMv, seeing as there already is a sideview battle system, character lvling system and so on and so forth. If I was more of a programer I might even be able to figure out a way to get the dragonbone script to grab the parts from diffrent files to create a way to make random mashup for the characters, making changing hair and what not on a charactar possble. If not there is always unity...

Oooh, and just a, well, a hint kinda, Unity, dragonbones and krita are free, unlike flash, and I belive the graphics used for all the girls are also free to use... with proper credits ofc... and we have alot of people here on the forum making small things every now and then... Would it really be impossible to make a OpenSource community kinda of thing?... Sure the project couldn't be put under a patreon if it was open source, but... well... just saying...

From what I've heard, Flash is going the way of the dodo, at least as far as making games is concerned. The absolute best program you could use is probably Unity, because you can use the skills you learn in it and apply them to more serious projects later, if you need. Unity's well-respected in the industry.

You have a good mindset. The major reason Simbro sucks now is likely because they have one (MAYBE two, but doubtful) person working on it. If you want to make your game good though, you probably are going to need to learn some scripting/programming, especially if you're looking at Unity.

One of SRD's RPGMV plugins allows you to change your character's appearance in-game using the character builder graphics. If you knew what you were doing, you could probably reverse engineer it to work like SimBro does. There are also a couple plugins that allow you to make "instance actors", the way that SimBro works. But randomizing their appearance in a way that allows you to watch them fuck would be difficult.

There's also Smile Game Builder, which is like RPG Maker but in 3D, this would allow you to use 3D armatures instead of 2D armatures, which look better, but as far as I know, SGB has no plugins and doesn't allow scripting like MV does, so I don't think you can even make plugins. SGB does not have an outfit system, but you might be able to stack map events on top of each other to get the same effect. Wouldn't work in combat though.

FlashDevelop, Flixel and Stencyl are free.

I tried Unity and it's a complete fucked up pain in the ass. I dread even turning it on. But I have read that Unreal Engine is going to start adopting Unity's business model of letting minor developers use it for free, so that might be worth a try at some point. But for now, I want to put my hard earned 3D Animation degree to use and not have to worry about learning how to program games again. If I did a SimBro clone on my own, it would be very simple, focused on artwork.

An open source, LoK community brothel sim would be cool. You could totally put open-source stuff on Patreon, you just probably wouldn't make as much money. But the point of Patreon is basically to say, "hey, I was going to make this anyways, you wanna pay me for it?" Although, I'd probably rather see an open source version of Corta's Splatformer or Noxico than SimBro. (Actually, Noxico might be open-source, but too programmy for me)

They've released a 2.6B now, not sure what's added or fixed.

Glad to see they're communicating at least a bit more, I don't think people would mind the slow pace so much if they didn't just drop off the face of the planet for months.

CHANGELOG for 2.6B courtesy of F95zone

- Fixed recent Alice/Reception girl event. Now it finishes how it should be, plus they stole her personal item in the end. Which could be a start for a new quest in the future.

- Launched party assignment for slums. Be sure you have at least 25 rep, to be able to use teams. Clear all threats at slums, then form a team at city map and drag the whole team to the assign point. There you'll be able to choose 'offer girls', 'defend' or 'recruit'.

- Peek scenes for slums added to the whole peek cycle through reception.

- To get the results of hiring task you should check your team at the location. We should probably add notifications for this kind of events. Like a card list of candidates you can browse from your cabinet.

- Fixed a lot of small bugs that were encountered during diving in the old scenes.

As usual, with each update they bring there's bound to be new bugs where it can make the game unplayable

It looks like they haven't learned much. The very first fix also added new content that's basically just a story tease. They're more focused on new content instead of refining the content that's already there that's barely been touched since implementation.

I highly recommend using Unreal Engine 4. The full program with tutorials is free for anyone that profits less than $5000 then you pay them %5 which is modest in my opinion. I

Well... 5% of patreon can be quite a bit, buuut, and I havn't read the fine prints of neither Patreon or the U4 enignes EULA... but is patreon considered "earnings" or "donations"?

I wish I had alot more time... Using unreal 4 to make p0rn games sounds fun... But learning it, and brushing up my 3d skills to a level where my most advanced skill isn't bumpmaping... it would take to much time... saddly...
At the moment the most I would have time for is making a texture or 2...

If it's 5% of earnings over $5000, that's not bad. So like if you're making $6000, it's (6000-5000)*.05 = $50?

Yeah, thats what I understood from it. I know.

It can definitely save a lot of time switching to 3d, but I love animating in 2d.

I tried that 2.6B (EXE) & it just runs GOD-AWFUL... I'll stick with 2.5a (SWF) until a new version comes out, it's at least semi-playable (provided you avoid assigning teams to the Slums & entering the Gym).

Don't know. It's probably archived somewhere.

Also, the Simbro team are apparently working on a ton of bug fixes. They've been putting up quite a few posts discussing their changes. I'll believe it when I see it...

If you check on the latest page on F95zone Simbro post, someone dumped a handful of version that seems to date back to v1.7.

Well all those bugs they claimed to "fix" never went away, they made it a lot worse with glitched out encounters in slums. What made the new version worse was that the game can't save your file. You had to do a few modification in the folder to get it working again and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

What still angers me is that just when I was about to see Simbro fall below $6000/month they managed to hook back their supporters or get new ones to bring them back to around $6500. Why can't these people that are still supporting them not see that the updates just keeps making the game worse and not worth investing anymore until they get the bugs fixed?

probably the same reason why "Breading season" could survive that long and actually become the most paying game in Dev.

The last version of this that actually worked semi-decent was 2.5a, 2.6 is a total WRECK, not even worth playing anymore; the interface is screwed up, the models are screwed up, the Gym don't work proper (not that it ever did) & the slums break after you finish clearing out the first set of thugs (the one that is supposed to allow you to assign a group afterwards). I've been spending my time playing other games, which is saying something because this was usually the first flash game I would run, until I made the mistake of overwriting 2.5a with 2.6 & can no longer find a download for 2.5a to get back a version that actually works semi-proper... :arrow:
