Quickies

Postby oneeyezero » Fri Mar 13, 2015 8:15 am

Hey guys been a while. Got a new job and don’t have much free time anymore but I've been screwing around with learning how to animate sprites and made these three games for practice.
These are little practice “quickie” games to figure out how sprites work so don’t expect anything too complicated or fancy in the H department.
The top down shooter has some glitches I can’t figure out how to get rid of:
-it starts to slow down after the 2 min mark ( I guess due to enemy spawning?)
- If you run out of flame thrower you’ll sometimes have to reload the page to get it back.
-The speed of the enemies increases each time you restart the stage. So If you die refresh the page to get them back to normal speed.
Besides that enjoy.

Got some new quickies for you guys, or should a say monthies. Had some issues but got them all ironed out…. Hopefully.
This time I was mainly experimenting with spawning stuff. Think I got the hang of enemy spawning and bullets (finally….)
Animated some tentacles (its harder than it looks  )
Started to experiment with adding sound to my game. In the frog one there was a popping sound whenever you popped a bubble and a gunshot sound in the cowgirl one but they were really annoying and loud so I took them out. (Not sure how to adjust the volume of sounds in flash yet)
And my first sucky attempt at making music. I’ve never made music a day in my life before and it’s been fun screwing around with this music program I found.
(might be a few audio glitches here and there…..)

Happy you enjoyed them, I agree with you on the H-scenes though. Realized they were meh after I had already finished them.
Heh, was just trying something new. Wanted to focus on making the games fun, might come back later and add a drawn game over pic instead of the sprites.
When I finally get off my lazy ass and make a new Cutie game I’m thinking of using sprites for the game play and regular models for the game over screens.
Just curious but what was your high scores in each game and did you beat each game? Were they too hard?

Hey glad you are back :D

You really made improvement on the gameplay for sure much more fluent and precise !

The characters are easy to control and respond well to command.

The H scene are basic but you can't expect too much from a sample of pixel game either so I'm eager to see what you do next ^^
Bad english spotted !

I actually really liked the sprite sex... But I guess that's just me...

Other then that the games are very simple but well made...

bounce 8 points Didn´t know It was beatable
RS was the hardest one for me as I could only do slight damage to the plant thingy before getting destroyed by the infinite spawning creatures score was 30 or so
Safari game was the only one I could beat took me like 20 minutes or so to lear the route as it´s linear and the different obstacles told me I was going somewhere and wasn´t on an infinite loop like in flappy bird. can´t really remember the score sorry.

All the games are beatable . For RS use the big flamethrower by pushing space and an arrow key to do major damage to the plant.

I don't suppose there's a chance we can expect quickies starring Captain Booty anytime soon, right?

Started to work on new models for Cutie 2. Don’t know when I can start on the actual game but I’ll keep you guys informed.
Here is the WIP of the new cutie model (not sure about the dreadlocks) compared to my older models of her.

Looks like the latest model shows promising improvement. Though I prefer the dreadlocks from the 2nd version IMO :3

Still screwing around with my cutie model, trying my best to find the right level of juiciness. Also I made her head bigger……..was her head too small in comparison to her body before?

I also liked the harpy game. Think once in done with cuties adventure I might revisit a few of these and expand on them.

Happy you guys like the games. Thinking about including them as mini-games in Cutie 2. Speaking of which, here are 2 new baddies for it, the Minotaur and the Naga.

Think I’m better at drawing monsters then people, so I think I’ll focus on making enemies for a while. I’m definitely getting better in the art department (I still hate drawing hands  ) but I can always do better. So any criticism or advice is appreciated.
