Well Well, Maxy, you have not even gotten done with 25 minutes of the game and your calling it quits?
Indeed WASD does not work unless you set the controls to WASD, in the low corner you should see a keyboard looking thing, click it and drag the movement key from the arrows to WASD.
You clearly arn't a reader also for you would know what to do after getting the Eevee, but seeing how you are impatient. Go to the end of what you can in route one with the broken bridge, head back, spearow episode one tribute, then head to vermillion city.

As for the problems with damage and other messed up mechanics, we can't fix them and are the reasons we are swapping engines.

As far as bad design or boring, we have hundreds of fans whom would disagree with you for us.
I might not create games, but I will test them, Then I will give advice on what I think needs to be added, removed, or improved.

Actually the problems with damage are visual only and have to do with rounding in the flash engine. Humbird0 set it up to round down when reporting damage, not round while dealing it, and round down again when reporting health. So you're probably dealing 3.5 damage, reporting 3, and showing 4. But as for not respecting dialog...that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but there are plenty of people who would disagree, myself included. You want to skip through all dialog and get a nice little quest summary telling you what to do? Play an MMO. Even the original pokemon games make you read through the dialog to know what to do next, though the early games have a lot less dialog than we do (but by White/Black, I think they're getting close). If you're going to skip text in this type of game on a first run, you're going to get lost.

And to someone above, yes there have been numerous changes to the mechanics in this game. For instance, Humbird0's trainers were equipped with very little dialog and losing to one would end the game, his wild battles wandered around the grass, there was no fishing engine, and the break-rocks and cut-trees had to be dealt with again every time you entered the map. The changes we wanted to make are one of the driving reasons we've been trying to move to an engine of our own making (the other being inexplicable bugs we can't fix without cracking open the engine files, which none of us were equipped to do). Some of the changes we wanted to implement simply couldn't be done in the existing engine.
I'm not mad. I'm only forty and eighty percent crazy, and that's split between two personalities, which makes me almost half sane.

I tried clicking on the movement keys but to no avail. Considering most of the game is controlled by the keyboard and elements to click with the mouse are rare, I didn't expect drag and drop functionality built in. My mistake, however in my defence, it's not indicated those are editable and I assumed they only serve as a guide. Besides, I see no reason why not make both settings work at the same time.

' Go to the end of what you can in route one with the broken bridge, head back, spearow episode one tribute, then head to vermillion city.'
Or play a different game and save the time.

I admit, I'm being way more harsh than I should in here, but I am really tired of games that just dump lines of lines of text on someone. I don't mind porn gams having a story, I don't mind them having a dialog either. But in this case I started reading dialog... then there was more dialog... everything I was doing was clicking on dialog to skip, and the game did nothing to make me care about it in the first place. I didn't expect David Cage Experience, I expected a game. Where you DO stuff.

As for mechanics, good for you. Not going to complain on that then.

As for fans, spare me please. Everything has fans, no matter how bad it is. I play games like that, I gave you a list of things I have a problem with which I consider bad design. By the end of the day, I left the game utterly bored, because the dialog was overwhelming and boring, the actual combat was boring, and the game was not intuitive enough for my likings. You may either focus on taking those into account and designing games to be more dummy-friendly, or ignore them and focus on the people who love the game for what it is.

Yeah, I get what you mean with the numbers. I just want to point out, I'm not against dialog in general. Slave Lords had dialog and it didn't get in the way even a little bit. My only problem is that I was sitting there, clicking on the dialog boxes, waiting for them to end and for me to start doing stuff. I don't play actual Pokemon games for the same purpose as I play Porn Parody games of Pokemon. Put story in your games, put dialog in your games, but don't flood me with it and call it 'storytelling'.
I believe text dump is not a valid form of storytelling in video games. Video games are for interaction, not reading, therefore the story should be woven into gameplay instead.

You obviously don't play a lot of old school RPGs where limited 2D resources have storytelling in the form of text dumps, either narrating or through dialogue.

Your first mistake was picking up the game and expecting it to be just another run of the mill parody Pokemon game with no real story or point and mostly just with anthro Pokemon pinups. Our game is story driven, be it in what visuals we can create or what we have to add in using text. We're not making just another pokemon porn game, we're making a Pokemon game with porn in it. There's a difference and when you realize that you can either enjoy the game for what it is or detest it for the same reason. Either way, you can't really complain about a game unless you actually play it. And you didn't even make it through what is essentially a prologue that shows why Pokemorphs came to be and the results from it.

I described my experience with the game. I have played a bit of Pokemon Red in 2001 so yeah, I haven't played too many of them. I still think expositional text dumps are a bad storytelling technique.

And for the love of everything that's sacred, 'detest it for the same reason'? I don't detest the game, or hate it, or anything like that. I tried to play a game, not read a book. Even if the game had no porn in it I would still think it's dragging out any action for too long.

And hey, you like it this way - more power to you. But don't think I'm hating on the game just because it's different than what I'm used to. I do appreciate the time you took and the effort you put in. I just wish it had a smoother experience.

Reads his intro page.

Well then. Put our logo on the list of games you won't play cause you're going to hate the methodology in our game design and storytelling techniques in our 2D, lore rich and story driven games. Carry on elsewhere, there's nothing else for you here.

I was going to make a big, overly rant-y comment on this little issue, but I'd prefer not keep it going.

I do have two things to say though.

1) Max: If you don't like a game, there's no need to insult it, which is basically what you did. You mentioned problems and called it poorly designed. If you were trying to give criticism, you should have offered a solution or two. It just sounds like you're hating on the game 'cause it doesn't instantly give you action, in a game where the main method of storytelling is text.

2) Deadman: Did you have to egg him on? There are two lines that sound like you're TRYING to turn it into a fight.

Both sides did something unnecessary, but let's call it there and keep the thread clean. IF it must continue, please let it be in PMs where it won't bother or involve others. (That includes responses to this)

Now. On topic: How's it going Dapper? You guys getting any closer to actually making progress? xP I could have sworn you said you'd be releasing the game in March last year...oh wait...I was the one who said that..>.>...Anyway, Happy New Years to all here! Even if I'm quite late to say it. xD

I'm a flash developer myself and I'm generally interested in Flash games, which is why I didn't just discard the game as a boring water-pourer, and decided to express my opinion. I did mention problems I've had with this game, and the only part which I consider as any form of an insult in my original post was 'boring and badly designed.'

Also to quote my first post: 'I do like it when you need to work for it the titties'. Your claim of 'you're hating on the game 'cause it doesn't instantly give you action' is therefore invalid.

The reason I'm still here is because I don't want to be seen as some asshole who came to shit on a game because he can't get the action immediately. The problem was with the text dump instead of gameplay, presented slowly on small text field.

And no, my job is not to offer solutions, my job is to tell you my opinion of the game. Maybe if I invested more time in it I would have enjoyed it more.

But please, don't make it sound like my opinion is irrelevant because I don't like the game. It makes you sound like you only want to hear praise.

And I'm happy to leave it at that, I just wanted to clarify that I didn't intend to insult the game.

Oof. I already knew they could have copyright problems. The chance of GameFreak finding out about PokeMorph is very low in my eyes, but I understand the circumstances.

Guess I have to stick with Tierwäch as soon as it comes available.

Postby Dapper Gent » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:10 pm

My apologies. It appears the announcement I made here didn't go through.

Yes, as of the 15th Pokemorph is on hold, likely indefinitely. My personal legal advisor who helped through previous issues recommended shutting the game down for awhile due to some pending changes to copyright laws as well as some moves Nintendo/Pokemon have made towards the end of '18, namely giving several Pokemon, like Pikachu and Eevee, their own official brands. The only alternative to protecting the game would have been to renamr everything like Professor Poak, Cumander, Boobsaur and so on but we felt it would have affected the integrity of our game and what we wished to accomplish with it. This all took place at the end of December. We wanted to make sure we had a plan B before we made the official announcement.

With that said, Tierwäch is coming along nicely. We'll be making a new thread for it as soon as we have official art for it and have solidified the characters. For more details about it, feel free to visit our patron page. It has the announcement as well as some development information for the public though patrons will get to see the Tiers first.

To everyone here, we just want to say thank you for your support over the years. We enjoyed making Pokemorph and deeply regret that we couldn't take it further. Maybe one day we can return to it but for now we're moving on. I know everyone here is as disappointed as we are but we hope Tierwäch will be just as well received, if not better received as we take it to heights we couldn't with Pokemorph.

Edit: I'm going to go ahead and post a spoiler for some of the Tiers. The ones on the left are the starters. The ones on the right are on our 'tentative' list.

These look amazing. The sole fact you intend to characterize both male and female versions of the Tiers show great potential!

Hello All,

I'm brand new to the forums and a recent player of PokéMorph v1.63 and I do want to say this is hands down the best 18+ "adult" NSFW Pokémon inspired game of its kind.

When the news broke that Dark Impulses would not be able to complete the game going forward as of this moment, I was heartbroken because I had come to love the game and was shocked that it would be hindered by outside forces (legal and copyright) so early in the storyline development.

I would like to provide a service to my fellow PokéMorph players, with the permission of Dapper Gent, ValTurNaa, and the entire Dark Impulses team, by creating the Official PokéMorph Walkthrough.

It would cover: All the known events in game thus far from Pallet Town to Route 5's endpoint of Chapter 2, All the catch-able Pokémon, and Relevant Hidden events (i.e. getting the Butterfree in Viridian Forest. Not at all obvious like Cosplay Pikachu or Clumsy Charmander).

I want to put this together because being new and having played through it roughly twice (currently on my third run), I have had to search through the forum pages to get even a hint of what's actually in game versus what was intended to be put into later chapters.

Thus, for those that still love this game and those who may come after me and become players of the best "technically incomplete" game out there, I would appreciate the opportunity to write that and post it here whether as an attachment or under a Spoiler tab.

Please let me know if that would be something you would like to see posted.

Thanks for this awesome game!

Yep! Male and female variants of just about all of them, with some herms thrown in though those are explained through SCIENCE!, well, biology. Like a tadpole who has both genders but doesn't become one or the other until stage 2 and then it depends on the gender ratio of its pod.

Even the player will have the choice between a male or female avatar. Hopefully we can even add customization to the sprites and battle arts as well.

Don't worry, I will. I'm making it a personal effort to communicate more with updates and other information. Though once we have more information on the new game we'll make a new thread with a link to it, our patreon and our discussion/recruitment thread before we lock this one down.
