DrawingStuff with Asian

Postby AsianP3rsuas10n » Tue Oct 21, 2014 1:14 am

mods please move this topic if it doesn't belong, I have no common sense to put things in the right places

So, lately, I've gotten back into flash and well what better place to start than by drawing a bunch of random things.

I come for a couple reasons.
-Show my work and receive feedback

-Create a place to just pile on drawings people create

-Make a place for game designers to come and use art that they like

So feel free to give me feedback, post your own creations or ask to use creations!
I think this is a great way to compare the many different art styles that people draw with.

So without a further a do
Here are some stuff I drew in the past few days of flashing(mostly weapons) :P
And a little animation I whipped up to see how my sniper would look xD

I will be drawing more random stuff and adding it on here.
If you wanna use any of my stuff just ask, answer will most like be yes.
If you need me to draw anything, again just ask.

I don't draw well. But I try and I want to improve. Please any feedback will be very much appreciated!

Hi there! Your weapons are amazing! How do you keep the line so clean in flash? I'm stuck with the old cs5 and never get too much addicted to it, but I recognize that it's a very handy tool when you want to animate something fast!
That's why I decided to give it a try once more, but when I draw my models the line always fucks up ( I use the brush, and the pencil tool to put some color into the shapes).
Some already told me it's better to use the pencil, which I'm not fond of... what can you tell me about this? Would you mind to share the methods with which you build your assets?
Thanks buddy, and well done again!

If you want some constructive criticism, I think you could keep some shapes of the sniper separated in the timeline and move them when you shoot, that way the gun won't look static.
Or maybe you could overlay a carriage, if the original asset hasn't got one, the moment you shoot.

@Off Topic, for precision, I use the line tool to create a rough shape, and then I use the standard cursor to bend the lines just like I want them.

I do the same thing; just to add on to this - as an extra step should the need arise (masking, misc whatever), you can go to Shapes -> Covert Line to Fill to change your edited drawing into fill (paintbrush) status from line (pencil).

Same here, except I'll also add "hairline" lines the same color as my fills, and use these to "connect the dots" inside my shape. This is to prevent Flash from randomly merging points when I'm dragging a curved line. It also keeps curves and circles stable when I start adjusting them manually. It's extremely important for anything involving curved rectangles, or round shapes that aren't perfectly circular. (I.E. limbs and breasts, respectively.)

The downside is it's a little extra work, the upside is increased precision and control.

I have a question. Is it possible to scale a movie clip while keeping the lines inside the same size? I tried making a hypno disk that way, and it didn't work.

Well, busy week in life for me. No time to do anything haha. I did help my friend with his little project though.
I took one of the stock pictures and kinda upgraded it. Nothing special but I still like to see what you guys think.
I'll be working on more animals for his little game, so I'm sure you'll see more.

Them 5 minute hind legs though. If anyone could kindly show me how to properly draw a tail, I'd appreciate it. I could not get a tail drawn for my life.

Yes. In Flash CS3 or later, after you set the line thickness, set the line Scaling style to "None." This will create lines that, no matter how much you shrink them, will always be visualized as 3 pixels wide or whatever.

(Note: I'm not sure if "convert lines to fills" will trace this shape correctly or not, especially if it's a spiral.)
