Alter's Tip Jar

I don't want your money I want your tips on improving! Long story short, I recently tried my hand at some animation in flash and it didn't' come out too well ( A lot of people actually hated it XD). I've actually been lurking these forums for quite some time, but just now decided to jump up and speak and ask for some help! I don't mind awkward or even mean comments, but I do mind progress. I really would like to make my animations better, because at the end of the day I want to put everyone in a fap coma. I have a ton of ideas to do it too D:

Couple of things to improve: the ass jiggle doesn't seem quite natural, though it's fine. The short thrusts shake a second time, making it look worse imo than a single shake. Other than that, the animation seems solid. More effort could be put into facial expressions to add some more emotion to the scene, but it looks fine to me.

Anatomy could use some serious work, but you're probably just looking for animation tips. There are a ton of models floating around the forum if you want to use them.

You can pick up more experience looking through the Tutorials section of the forum, but I've lost track of most of the impressive animation that I've seen.

KatsuO_O had some good animations under his belt
Digfree has some interesting animations iirc
Dactillion Vinnie has an animation thread with a lot of animation examples
I don't remember who does the animations for MiM:PUT, but it's probably Ivan Aedler.

Check all that out, there's a lot to learn about animation from our guys and gals.

Thanks for replying Zues, but I'm a little curious, what would you change or like to see different in the anatomy department. But I'll definitely take a look at what you mentioned

Looking at the rather jerky movements, it seems like you are animating it frame by frame, rather than using tweens. If that is the case, then I would recommend that you look up motion/classic tweens, as it is made for this kind of animation where you are using a set of drawn bodyparts.

As for anatomy: inconsistent hands/feet, asymmetric breasts, lack of knees, improper hips on the brown girl, left arm thickness on the light girl, improper shoulder on the brown girl, and the white girl's face is wrong.

Heh that bad huh? XD Could you tell at all these were Animal Crossing characters, I was curious about that too? I tried making them a bit more closer to their proportions in the game, so I may have oversimplified some parts.But I will definitely keep these in mind. Thanks again Zeus.

Hello there, Zeus. Not so active anymore, but I'm still here.

I downloaded the file and took a look at it. There are tweens there, so you got that. The problem is that the frame rate is too low and that body parts are just shaking back and forth now and then. You should at least work with 24 frames per second when using tweens. I use 30, because it is noticeably smoother. Under the frames, you can see a number and the fps, that's the number you should change.

I also took some time to animate it myself. Some body parts wouldn't rotate for some reason, so I had to take them out.

Two things I have to say here. The button on the lower right has the hit box only for the lines, not sure if that's intentional but it makes it a bit hard to click. Second, I've only had flash for three months and I've been working at 15 frames per second. Should I up that for whatever I make in the future?

The hit frame inside a button acts as the area that can be pressed, but it won't be visible. If it doesn't have a hit frame, it defaults to the visible shape of the button. Which is the problem in this case.

I would up the frame rate as soon as possible. You don't want to get comfortable using one frame rate and then have to switch over because the animations aren't turning out smooth enough. 30 is always my recommendation. I used to work with 24 for the longest time, so it wasn't a huge leap, but even then, it did throw me off a bit. However, if were talking about frame by frame animation, then that is a completely different deal. Even as low as 12 works in that case, frame by frame tend to look a lot smoother than it actually is, if it is done well. Of course, it also helps that you only have to draw 12 images per second.

Hey Katsu, thanks for taking a look at the file for me, hmm hey how did you do that by the way? XD Anyway, I guess the default fps was set to 15, I didn't even notice it till now, and it makes such a huge difference. But I'll definitely try another with your's and everyone elses suggestions. Say do you remember which body parts were giving you trouble, just curious.

I used a decompiler to create a Flash file out of the information in the swf file, Sothink's swf decompiler to be specific. That is also why I had some trouble with certain body parts, it doesn't always do a very good job recreating the Flash file.
