Well i like that idea allot.
I've had the name change on my mind for a while but i find coming up with names more difficult than actually making the game. :o
I think im going to put the name i like at the end of the poll, and the names highest voted and see which ones sticks the best.

How about "ark rancher"? (arch-rancher)
Due to the english orthographics it doesn't work so well, but there are plenty other possibilities how to write it.

Anyway I just got inspired by H.G. Wells.
How about "Things to cum" ?

ill try using arch- rancher for a bit see if that roles off the tongue. Though Things to cum sounds like an amazing title for a porn mystery game rather and adventure game.
I never read H.G. wells work as i enjoy fantasy novels and myths but i know people who have enjoyed some of his work.

Naming things is hard. Have to avoid any similar names, have to make it short and interesting enough to remember, all while trying to give off what the game is about.

I think having Space or a similar word in the title is helpful to distinguish it as being fantasy/sci fi. Exotic Business and the rest of them are a bit vague. People won't know by the name alone what your game is even about. Space Monster Rancher sums it up better than any of the rest in my opinion, but there are probably similar other options, if you don't like the Monster Rancher bit. It isn't all that interesting just like that anyways. The "Rancher" term in ship setting seems a little off and could give the impression that it's a farming simulator as well.

In my opinion, people should kind of be able to tell by the name that it is:

a. A hentai game
b. A monster breeding game
c. A sci fi game

In that order. None of those names really have all 3. "Space Monster Breeder" would be better but is still a little boring. Thinking up some interesting vocabulary to explain it to your liking would probably be better. I actually have a similar concept, so I don't want to share my name ideas exactly lol. If it's something you intend to work on for quite a while, the name is really important.

Actually I beleave that the H content becomes obvious once the 18+ warning pops up...

Anyway, you forgot:
d. It should be easy to memorise
The length however isn't so important. since titles tend to be shorted like: MiM:PuT

This gives the possibility to play with it: 'Organic Research on a Galactic Yacht' or in short: ORGY
If you define breeding as artificial selection and therefore a kind of research on organic matter, this title is even somehow justified.
I wouldn't consider it tough since it gives a wrong first impression.

To return to my previous suggestion: space arch-breeder
Short and with a pun, that doubles the content.

So I've been power-housing my to do list. next update coming soon. A major problem ive been having is this stupid name distraction. Im only going to set this once so the next name will stay(Unless there is a major upheaval). Ive updated the list the 6th is the end of the votes. Any one that has the most votes im setting in, as im ok with any name chosen from that list. If it comes down to the i hate it winning, ill just rethink some names and have a one day poll until a winner is picked. Vote and a thanks to the people giving me suggestions on what i should do.

Well yeah my point was that it should be nice even abbreviated, if it's long. MiM:PuT works pretty well. I just wanted to give them more to think about anyways, in line with trying to tell people what your game is about with the name. If your game is good enough, it'll be spread around eventually and a good name helps that.

so far it looks the name stuck even though i never really meant for it too. SMR Semi automatic ranch, lol. yea i understand where you are coming from fruit its just really difficult to actually apply to your own game.
Space & Monsters = S&M would work nicely but i think it would attract more of a bondage crowd.... Dunno Might add this in the list

Hopefully. The problem is, that recently changed jobs, to a freelance artist. And while that is exiting and working out well currently, I have a difficult time finding time to work on this. Also im not the most enthusiastic of programmers so ive kinda been putting it off. ill add in some spoilers of some of my updates, but if a programmer or an animator wants to help continue the project that would be sweet, I wouldnt mind Leading the project, I know what the game play looks like... programming takes much time that i dont have.

So unless someone wants to help continue this, your going to have to wait untill i can find a breather from real life.

I have many other visual updates complete, but the code i ripped apart and is no longer functioning. I have to spend a lot of time to put it together. :(

So i liberated a design from a game i am working on. The design isn't going to be used so do you think i should use it for the hud? Its just a rough but i could mock it up, or do you think the other design works better?

Do you think it fits in?

Well, the rough concept looks very rough to say the least. Though the layout does look interesting nonetheless. Maybe you could vector out the concept design a bit more. As for the ark design, I'd say that needs a bit more improvement IMO.

I'd say aiming for a minimalist HUD design might benefit you more. If screen space is cheap, a beautiful and complex HUD is the right choice but if screen space is valuable then you should stick to a more compact HUD.

In the case of your game so far, screen space is very cheap. In this case, the HUD you're suggesting might be a great way to add visual interest to the game as a whole, as it looks quite interesting in its roughed stage.

Thx for the input. Im in the process of finding out exactly what information the hud needs to display, then im going to rough out a similar design and Program it to update to the Data stored in the game. Hopefully the player will be less confused with the game information.

I also wrote up some dialog for the ships ai/ Tutorial/ main menu character. Though until i add the features, it kinda un-necessary. I have a feeling this will be more of a normal game than an 18+ game, at least untill i have the time to fiddle with animation, and finish the core programming. Any contribution to animation, or someone who can handle programming would be nice. This game is for always going to be free and any contributor will be noted in the credits.

Im going to set up a bounty blogger. People can donate to setup bounties on items i wish completed. if the bounty is met, the contributor takes the prize. As i wont keep track of who made a bounty, only the bounties themselves, if i am to be the collector i will shift the bounty over into an items i desire to have completed. If I should finish with this game, the bounty will either move to a new project or stay with me.
I plan on releasing the files for download, and use when i am no longer have a need to design this project.

I dont know if this system will work but to get it started i will put $25 in bounties. If its clear no one contributes then, i will remove it no harm done.

Check back here for the link to the blogger. Ill try to keep updates every day/week and pictures as items develop over there. Like always, comment on if its a good idea, bad idea or if you have no idea what your talking about.

Ive been working on the storyline. Leave a comment on my last blogger post if you wish to hear my entire plan for gameplay/storyline so far, or if you would rather be surprised. Depending on the results, it will be up late 5th to 7th, as i will be writing it out and editing it entirely for you to read which takes time.
