Space Robot Game?

Postby dobbo151 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 12:53 pm

Okay... So I am very new to flash making and I'm trying to make my own game, not a particularly easy to make one either.

The concept is this;
Get robots (will look like girls... lady bots... you get the idea)
Upgrade robots/ build robots
enter them in tournaments
robots fight and the loser gets raped by the winner (seems like a crude way to put it but hey...)
winner gets money (well the owner does)
buy better parts/ robots/ win more tournaments
Become ultimate robot fighter

So far I've made my own little intro screen, a main menu, an in game menu, an intro and some sort of fighting mechanics. :)
the thing being that as I am new to flash I'm gonna need a lot of help with coding,
I'm also gonna need to replace nearly all of the graphics in my game as I'm just using placeholders at the moment,

I'm just gonna post up problems as they come and hope that people can help me solve them :D

What I'm currently working on:
Okay intro has been re-made to be far less messy, Next up is possibly making the robots menu nicer, graphics and animation wise. The sex scenes and the combat mechanics are currently getting worked on.
Current Problem:
Minor problem is that it seems to flicker with the new action scripted fade in

One thing people will need to know is how the battles will actually work. It can be really easy to program, but it can also be really hard to program depending on how you want the battles to work. If you want it to be automatic battles where you don't have much control, then that is really easy to program. If you want it to be a 2D fighter where you can control your character, have combinations of moves, and an Ai that is competent, then that is much harder. A turn based system isn't too hard, but it always comes down to how much depth you're looking for.

I wouldn't mind just throwing my Robot girl in a pit and auto fight. It would be like the good ol cock fights in Thailand :D

Okay well what I had in mind was a turn based fighter, with animations.
turn based like the old final fantasy games and animations like...well pretty much every other game on this site XD (mostly the playshapes type stuff)
although if other people can come up with a better system then that would be cool too (I like the sound of that automatic one) :D

well anyhow, first problem I've got to throw out to anyone willing to give it a shot.
It works fine when testing it in the flash maker (ctrl-enter)
but when I "publish" the flash using flash CS6 the .swf file that it puts out comes up with this error;
error 1 of many no doubt.jpg
It seems that all of the things I gave actionscript names have this error attatched
error 1 of many no doubt.jpg (37.15 KiB) Viewed 34272 times

Okay dis-regard this...it seems to work fine when uploaded

However if you've tested the game then you'd realize that the maintain bots menu is broken as hell, my problem here is that I don't know how to make a button that does something (my test one being the close menu button) be created by another button (the maintain bots button).
It complains that the createdButton.addEventListener doesn't have a target when i try to compile it.

Your intro is awesome. I really like how you have the emotions of the character, even for placement graphics it really adds some depth and push to the story that I like. Even though there's not to much to the story (yet?) It's really interesting!

Turn based would be fun also, are you thinking like having different move sets for different upgrades and gear? Maybe it could be like you have to put a certain piece of gear on to gain the advantage against a famous opponent. I like the idea of having one robot to form a relationship with, and just upgrading her from lame to fame. That's just me though, I like story :3 I honestly never had fun on turn based except Paper Mario, so my support of it would be neutral.

If you went the cock fighting route, it could use like a cheer factor. It's like upgrading your robo girl, throwing her in there and hoping that you prepared her well enough, yet at the same time you could have the realtime battle happening for us to watch, and if we cheer or yell something at the right moment she can get a critical blow on her opponent or a nice block. Maybe even like sexy low blow. Like groping to mess with the opponents circuit panels.

Just some brainstorms if you didn't have a specific system locked in.

Also with those buttons, i'm not sure if this will help, but looking at this at a glance it sorta seems like the same concept. I'm also trying stuff out but don't have a grasp yet, so hope it helps.

I like the idea, although it all really depends on what the robot girls look like. Would be neat if the owner could have sex with his bots as well.

some good ideas, thanks guys :)
one of robot girls will (If I'm allowed to?) probably look like a modification of Samus, but more android like and then I will also have other types of robots in there, maybe Flying ones etc.
(also Knight Cream I think that tutorial is for making a smooth transition between roll-over and roll-out buttons, but thanks anyhow)

Dude, I'm not gonna lie, the dialogue is pretty good, and you're animation of the bot in the garbage is great. But (not to disregard that whole scene and throw it out the window. God this feels rude to say) I think it might be better if the character didn't see the bot. This would allow you to be more in depth with the bot creation from the start. Unless, of course, you're going to be adding a paint-shop feature where someone could go and change their bots aspects for a small price. Wouldn't it also be cool if you could be of both genders for your character, rather be restricted to man (or woman). (This is a thought by my cousin who likes to lurk and use me to post ideas she has.) I had one more little idea, is there gonna be a hands-on training option? Where you can boost your bots stats with certain "uploading software", or other things like that?

This is all that I thought about that I thought I'd bring to your attention. I like the thoughts of this game very much and cannot wait until you begin to get your own scenes and such put into it. Alright, I'll stop typing the random ideas I'm getting before I get over-board. Kurai out.

Haha don't worry man, I'm not offended by that, I was thinking of making your own character customizable as well and pretty much all of the other ideas that you said :D (great minds think alike I guess XD) But if I did then that stuff would come after I get the basic game up and working (being able to enter fights and such) but hopefully some day I will get them features in.

I guess they do, don't they? Heehee, I'm gonna let you know now, with the concept of this game being so awesome, I am going to be checking in to this quite frequently. So make sure you update and post here regularly! You don't wanna make me mad! You know why?...
Because I know I'm gonna love your work, and if you don't I'll be sad. XD
I'll be staying tuned, bro!

Okay, I'm not sure if people seem to notice it when I update the original post, so here is me asking for some advice in the comments; should I put the sex scenes (involving two separate movieClips atm) as removing both movie clips and then adding a new movieClip to the stage that has both of them in it, or should I arrange the two movieClips on stage so that they interact. My thoughts are that the first method would be easier to do and look better, however It wouldn't be so great for keeping the details of each movieClip (e.g. if one robot was pink and one was grey, would it be possible to make that show up in the new movieclip?).

From my experience the way most people do it is to do the scene in one movieclip. Coordinating 2 separate MC's to move together is way too hard.

Maybe ask the creator of Breeding Season for advice. viewtopic.php?f=34&t=2954 The sex scene you are going for seems pretty much like what he has built.

In case anyone missed it, these are not androids. They are gynoids. Android refers specifically to a robot given a masculine form, the feminine version being as stated a gynoid.

Just wanted to clear that up. In other news, what little there is of the game looks pretty good for core mechanics.

A sad post time guys, I'm staying at my parents house for the next month or so and thus will very likely not be able to work on this in case I get caught :P
also sorry for the nearly impossible to beat enemy, I uploaded the version where I'd put the enemy strength way up to test the losing animation :P

Hey RussianUser
I got your message about wanting to take over this game although as I don't post to these forums much I can't reply via the private messages system
but yeah I'd gladly give you permission to carry on, modify or do whatever you like with this game.

I would've carried it on myself but I might start pursuing a career in games development and can't really put an adult game on my CV, so I guess my efforts will be going elsewhere :(

If you want I could put the project files up for download somewhere? (there is a bit more in those than what has been uploaded here)
