Dog Logic? You did not stop giving me food, you shot me down. And I have not bitten you. I barked about how other dogs could get a better meal. And the funny thing is that you hardly would have noticed it. If I had not barked about it, there would have been close to zero chance that you would have discovered it. In other words, it would have been food you would probably not have missed. You would not even have noticed it if other dogs eat it.
I have a better metaphor for this logic. There are two companies. One company finds that the other company is doing better things and starting to use them. The other company says that only prototypes can be used. The one company finds a solution by telling the consumers how to take the other company's files themselves to make the most of their program. The other company gets angry and say that now the one company can not use anything. It forces the one company to shut down. The one company tries to find a peaceful solution, such as paying the other company for the files, even when the one company is a non-profit, but the other still say no.
It's a better metaphor and more real.

The more you try to fight the situation the worse it's going to get. Personally I think you need to just stop, but if this is really so important please PM them instead of posting publicly. It's making what would normally be a happy occasion less than adequate for the rest of us.
ValturNaa Wrote:Look, Hunden. It's really simple. We gave you permission to use some of our stuff. Not our best stuff, but stuff you couldn't make for yourself. You asked for more, we said no. Then you turn around and encourage everyone to steal our stuff for your game. It isn't that people couldn't have done this on their own (and we never would have known if they did, it's true) but it was the blatant and public "I want you to steal this from these guys because I'm not allowed to use it" announcement that made us change our minds. It's our content, created by hard work and a dedicated team, and we get to decide how it's going to be used. I don't understand why this is hard to understand.
And you can always lose your reputation. That is crucial in small companies, small towns, and indie games alike. Without a good reputation, you're dead in the water. That's as true for present projects as future ones. And the more you defend encouraging piracy, the more reputation you lose.

It's not the end of the world. I'm not telling you that you have to completely shut down your game, you just can't use the assets that we have created due to your recent actions. It took us two years to get to where we are now. It's been hard work getting here (2 1/2 long years of me riding my team to maintain production) and you undermined our efforts. Archer was right, we were very generous with you but that generosity ended, now it's time to move beyond it. Here's my advice from one lead designer to another.
Download the most recent Humbird0 game engine and port your maps over. This will provide you with a Pokemorph clean copy of the editor (minus a few items we shared with Humbird0 that are now part of his base engine. You can use everything in the latest version of his engine, even if we made it).
Use your old game as a template to rebuild it. You'll still be in a better starting place than what we had when we started using his engine.
Connect the maps and do a run through to see what all needs replaced. (Tiles, textures, sprites, etc)
The rest is pretty much cut and paste when it comes to content; dialogue, scripts, sprite placement, etc.
You won't have any many pictures and sprites to play with but now would be a good time to start trying to expand your team. See if you can't find an artist and spriter to help you. I'd actually highly recommend it as both will give your game a nice personal touch as well as separate it from the other Pokemon games.
The upside is that this will be a great time to tweak the game from the ground up as you go. Get rid of a lot of the errors and gaps, from dialogue to empty rooms to doorways that go nowhere.
I understand it's inconvenient and frustrating but as I said before, it's not the end of the world. You still have the means of building your game, even if you no longer have near as many pieces to use. If you really care for it then this incident won't stop you from keeping it going. And as I told you awhile ago, make sure you have explicit permission to use what material you gather. If someone says no then simply find the means to create it yourself or find another resource to use. And who knows, maybe after some time has passed then we can readdress this situation.

You're not getting it. You're still not getting it. You weren't telling people to take pictures you had permission to use. It was the opposite. Once the list was completed you would have had access to 447 out of 453 pictures. We said you couldn't use a total of 6 pictures (out of 453 potential pictures) because they will be in the finished product of our game. Instead of accepting that we would not be including the sets for Abra and Cubone, you posted instructions on how to take them anyway. That is the part where you're stealing. You were doing it second hand by acting through others, meaning you were more guilty than they would have been.
And yes, it can get worse. It can still get much worse. As Val pointed out, your reputation is still at stake. That can potentially ruin any chance you have at returning. I could also still pursue legal actions if I wanted to but to be honest, it'd be more hassle than what it's worth but I'm willing to fight to protect my company and my assets if it comes down to it. So yes, things could get worse.

keradi01 Wrote:So I got a bug in Cerulean.
I went to the Gym but was told to go to the visitor center. I go to the visitor center and pick up the tickets. As I try to leave the room, Reed crashes in and forces my sprite into the lower-left area of the screen, just outside the wall of the building. Reed and the other characters do their little conversation and while Willow and Eevee's sprites seem to properly move to the center of the building after the scene, my sprite stays stuck in the black area outside the wall. So I'm stuck. This also causes the character sprites to duplicate in different positions and stack on top of each other sometimes.
I've tried loading and reloading (using a flash cookie) but the bug keeps repeating like clockwork.
It'd be greatly appreciated if anyone knew how to avoid it or get myself unstuck without restarting the entire game and could tell me.
