aaalrighty... lets see here..feedback?
yay!palandus Wrote:And here I thought you didn't like the idea of paywalls. Okay, fair enough.
It is like Microtransactions in AAA; the developers intentionally stretch out the grind, to entice people to buy the microtransactions to help them overcome the grind. Basically they ruin the gameplay experience, in favor of milking customers. I'm not saying that you are doing this, but it is said all the same, that your titles are starting to veer into this direction. I get it, you want to make a living off this, and I'm not blaming you specifically, but I feel bad that when people go from doing it for fun/hobby, to doing it like a job, that their personality shifts and all their values that they had, are thrown away in favor of acquiring more dough. Oh well, such is life, right
for this one, the design philosophy was something along the lines of "more playtime = more engagement = more fun"
did I hit the mark on that? ...
apparantly not. for the year or so this was in development, I'd only heard good things. so that's what I went off.I welcome this sort of critisism .. I only wish you'd have all let me know sooner
palandus Wrote:Generally though, when a developer creates a cheat code to reduce the grind (ie Guarana cheat) or bypass the grind altogether (ie Gallery cheat), it is fairly telling that the developer themselves knows that the grind is harsh and that the good stuff, that people want to fap to, is locked behind a whole lot of time invested. This works great for an actual video game, that someone plays to try to win, but when the "prize" of winning is the stuff you want to fap to, then that means you can't fap for a long time until you get to the good stuff. Hence the value of a Gallery Mode. Anyway, I'm ranting, and I think I've spent enough time on this post and stuff, and I think I'm just going to leave the forums for a while and mope. Maybe in a year or two, I'll come back and check up on your stuff, but now I'm out.
firstly, the headstart cheats have always been a thing.
(that hint under the cheat-bar itself) click the icon or type my name and skip all the early grind. easy.
also, I was actually asked to nerf that because apparantly it gave away too much for free and "spoiled the experience"
sure, you clearly have the opposite opinion, but let me know. because seriously, that's the only feedback I'd gotten
(though, on reflection... I was wrong to do what they asked for. the real problem wasnt the head start, it was clearly the basic starter pack )oh, and gallery mode code is given away as a reward when you use the ship and beat the game --
which is something I should have added a long time ago, franklyas a side-note on the instant gratification bit .. making 'popcorn' is something I'm really trying to avoid falling into.
mostly because diving right into things and having mostly non-interactive xxx really isnt working with the strengths that games innately have..
if flash games want to compete with things like SFM, then we need to try- having something to show for our much longer development times
DerpGracious Wrote:To be perfectly honest, I was a "BHGH" supporter until last month when I saw the cheats were put behind a paywall after having it supported long enough. I find this practice to be completely intolerant against the supporters. Did I play the game? yes I did and I even enjoyed it and after being through with this project so much time, yet I still did not feel complete for not being rewarded for finishing the game just as I would be in many other projects.
that's fair.
.. no, really. it is.
but I still feel like need something special to give back to my supporters for you know, supporting me.
~ for giving me the chance to follow my dreams and make this gig my one-and-only purpose
I've tried for
months to operate as a simple tip-jar, and that clearly wasnt working.
still.. I'm open to ethical ideas, anyone
DerpGracious Wrote:Putting additional outfits for your highest "inner circle" supporters is something I would clearly understand as you are gracefully giving them their own special cut for being on your side that much, but you are not complimenting those who support you, you are doing the opposite, you are taking stuff back! You did not know how to counter the special stuff for your highest supporters and instead of making effort (Completely my opinion, not a statement) you just took back from your supporters... Cutting what they had just to get more money (you may obviously deny this, yet please try to understand that this is how it makes you look right now and slanders your reputation at the moment).
I think part of the problem was the huge hike between the early access and the inner circle price
cheats are down a level
(they're open right now to all he old beta testers too) and I already give them out to anyone who asks
I try to be good. I try to avoid having to do patron-only updates. I dont lock previews behind the wall. no
'free' censored versions. I dont even do the whole
"public gets the last copy when the new $50 one gets released" thing that a lot of other projects do.
so, unless I'm gonna take up something
completely new like supporter sketches or something..
then what else can I give? vaevictus Wrote:My bad! I confused it with another forum, it is not flueee, it is a meeee, Victus!
welcome back at long last Vid Wrote:I must be missing something, I DLed the 1.25 version you just released publicly, but I don't see anything like the Shep in your screenshot, with the black lipstick and all. I'm guessing that's what was meant by "pale Shep and OC" in the changelog above, but I'm not sure what OC means or if I'm missing something. I found how to change hair colour but is there another button for changing the... art-style, essentially? Thanks!
when you finish the game, the end scene now gives you that code
** try a re-download if it's not there.
(its part of a hotfix patch) your save
-should- still work on the new version.
