FruitSmoothie Wrote:I don't see it as a start, mainly because I could draw that in like a minute, haha. Drawing is an important skill for game making but it's worthless without the other parts, and all that's shown is a background made in paint, no story posted, no ideas, no characters shown, etc, etc. There should really be a requirement for posting here (Story, game type, game mechanic ideas, character bios/art, programming skills, etc), as opposed to just in the Creative forum (Where you post IDEAS, Creative Corner is for In-Progress Games)

If people don't start their post off with some amazing story, character images, game mechanic ideas, etc, you can almost guarantee the "game" will not be made. People wonder why the track record around here is so bad, stop letting people post half assed ideas where inprogress games should be. I'm not trying to attack anybody, just speaking in general. I think Creative Corner should be more selective with what it allows in here, cause it seems to drag everybody down seeing 95% of the threads be trash/trashed. I'd rather have 10 active threads here with results than 300 filled with hopes and dreams.

True, I see your point, for sure. I wasn't well versed in the forum rules nor did I think about the fact that there was no real substance for the op to contribute initially. Still, this guy got bashed pretty hard for his ability. I just felt obligated to protect his desire to engage in art in general.

For some reason i thought this was a second thread of yours.

Ya but really the picture kinda bland.

Wall, Floor, Pillars, Light, Door, Tile, and Prospective are the only things that I can think in that picture off the top of my head.

then I suggest showing us something closer to the finished product so we can give you a better critique.

Aye. Also, what are you looking for by posting in here? Besides criticism. There's plenty of that.

I'll criticism everywhere all up in this bitch. Goodjob TC for actually creating the start of a game finally, but can you give more information about it? Obviously seems like an "Escape" type of game, like little problem solving and puzzle games and such. I don't see where any hentaiish gameplay comes in, is that planned? I'm not even sure if this site disallows non h content. Basically, what are your goals for this game?

Well, for what's been done, it works.

I can't say much other than that, really.

I've always enjoyed this style of game.
Big, grinning thumbs up. Everything seems to work up to the point of things that do work, work.

Well it's nice to see a start of something. I do like how area's highlight when they are clickable, too often in escape games there's a lot of blind clicking involved and trying to find something obscure by luck or with a walkthrough.

The art still suffers perspective problems, the toilet is really bad about that, I'd suggest a front view instead of that ackward 'mostly top view' you have for it, same with the sink, really make sure you're doing everything proper in one point perspective.

The game is taking form and you are improving. But I've found a couple of things that I think need improvement:
- Text buttons: the mouse must be over the text in order to click the button (for example with the "back" button). You can fix this simply adding a box behind the text in the button (and making it invisible, if you don't want to display it).
- As Trunks said, the toilet perspective is wrong. You can easily fix it resizing the height of the sink. Well, I've done a quick edition of your image with paint as example.

The actual text is (at least now) "Not many people survive the tests that we perform at this compound." It's grammatically correct as is.
If you notice this notice, you will notice that this notice is not worth noticing.

This is a "Compound" so there is an outside to this room, but to answer your question yes there will be porn/hentai.

If anyone thinks they can draw my characters better, and you can show me an example drawing I'll add your drawing into the game to replace mine.

this looks good! I can't wait to try it out later tonight.... I will be back tomorrow to tell you what I think! ^^;

edit: back again. Slightly intrigued, but there are several details i thought i'd point out.
  • The mechanic behind the door and the lock is not coded correctly. I assume that the thing under the bed is a lockpick? I found that the door can be opened regardless of whether you have the lockpick or not.
  • I'm not sure how to use items. I found the plunger and the lockpick. And I worked out that the "i" button opens up inventory. Perhaps you should implement the item functions in conjunction with the toilet and the door lock?f the item found under the bottom bunkbed is actually a piece of wire, perhaps a function with the shiney thing in the sink can be made? (like, using the wire to fish it out.)
  • The outdoors is REALLY BIG. ahaha, but I still walked all over the place. A point i should make is that if you're pressing the "down" key, the main character keeps on moving her legs even after I stop pressing down. However, the leg movements stop when i move forward a bit.
  • I was kinda lost on how the item menu worked and how to exit out of things. I think you could make a proper Main Menu, and have a section dedicated to "in-game controls"?
  • Make a faster movement button. Seriously. I mean, your walking function is fine, but the slow movement drained my enthusiasm for exploring the grass area REALLY fast >_<
  • I realize that EVERY OTHER PERSON here has been talking about the artwork. Personally, i don't care. I love the direction your game is going in, and I really hope it becomes a really good mystery/puzzle game. Out of curiosity, have you heard about 4chan's CYOA? (Choose Your Own Adventure). I was reminded of it, and I REALLY had enjoyed that, so I hope your game meets my expectations! :D

Yeah I have been working on adding the first sex scene, been changing some of the in game characters, and have been adding more stuff that will allow you to escape the room. (You kind of figured it out to easily in your last post so I figured I'd advance the difficulty.) There will be an update by the end of the month or beginning of next month. What I'm shooting for is to have the first level completely finished in my next update so you and anyone else still following my game can look forward to that.
