Yeah just removing the magnifying glass thing (and anything similar) and leaving the images in a gallery afterwards would probably be a good idea for future endeavours.

That's a good idea.
The game's flow would've been relatively un-interrupted (until you inevitably open the menu afterwords)
and it would give people something to look forward to after the scene itself.

Make marle stand still for a few minutes, then click on her when she changes poses in game.

Marle needs to be fully dressed for the "wait-just-wait" thing to work. If you restart the game, it'll remember all of the pictures you've already found.
