Man I wasn't aware of the "penalties" of lurking. I wanted to give flash editing a try myself and wanted to speak to Corta personally but apparently that feature is still disabled... :\

Anyways, I love your work Corta, and as a little practice of my own I wanted to try editing the Natsume2.swf as well. May I know what programmes you use and how difficult it was as well as any tips you can give? Googling how to do a flash edit/reskin doesn't really give any tutorials haha! D:<

Haha thank you for that, and no it isn't patronizing at all! (: I'd much rather something honest that might be harsh but helpful! In school I've had a few supplementary lessons with Flash, but that was almost 10 years ago and with a definitely outdated version of Flash. We made small animations, but ultimately nothing interactive and on the scale of Zone nor yourself. D: In the event that I wasn't able to contact you (that's now moot of course :P), I was going to use a Flash Decompiler and change all the graphics to what I wanted her to look like. :? Hoping the idea isn't completely mistaken... D:

..we're not really going to be using most of those skills but knowing what's up is a huge boost.

nope. you got it.
for your first job I'd keep things simple. try to avoid having to re-animate objects.
try to pick an edit that isnt too far from what it was originally.
(take h-key girl 1 (one of my first) for example, a few basic re-colours and a slightly painted over guy.)
take a look at how each MC moves around the stage, where they pivot from and what it's 'connected' to. (visually, not literally.)

then, you're ready to draw over everything.
also, time-saving tip. most decompilers will treat clone graphics as completely separate things. (for example, most of the blink frames) spot them and copy over the original to save yourself some time and filesize.

Flash Decompiler

there's probably better ones out there, but I use sothink swf decompiler, myself.
it's got features you'll need later for graphic recovery. (we'll talk about that when you come across a vector that gets painted incorrectly.)
mostly, though, you just want it to turn your .swf into a .fla that you can work with.

Also, you should let the artists know to use minimal amounts of anchor points when drawing vectored characters to reduce lag in performance.

One more thing, can you also provide the attachment of fonts used in this template as well? I'm missing 4 of them.

Alright, so it seems I cut a few too many things from the art template..
added back in old hairs, no-clothes and show/hide nude button.
(updated in the old post, no real need to upgrade if you're in the middle of something, though.)

also, in the past, I've noticed /f/ and /v/ crying about DOTA girls..
and seeing as it ain't all on me, anymore ... feel free to expand the roster to both games, artists.

clean art and awful-jaggie messes dont effect performance that much, it's more about aesthetic, these days.
so, it's not really worth bothering anyone over.
I usually tidy up whenever something comes my way, anyways.

One more thing, can you also provide the attachment of fonts used in this template as well? I'm missing 4 of them.

just go for default, I'll be gutting all the art goodies by hand.
so, the missing/weird text wont make a difference at all.

Well, it's mostly the icons in the buttons and the order arrangement that makes it kind of hard to determine the functions. Some I can guess but overall I'm doing mostly guess work. Maybe have simpler icon designs to make it easier and rearrange the buttons in a more organized fashion could help.
