Setting:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

In this universe, all electronics have computers that are connected by a digital space, called EDEN, which serves as a sort of internet. This digital space is accessed by transferring your body into data. This RP is set in a futuristic America, with EDEN used by everyone to such an extent that everyone also has Digivices, which hold a person's ID, digital inventory, money, and in the case of hackers, the Digimon capture program and their Digimon.

Digimon, for those who are new to the series, are Digital Monsters who, in this universe, are used as hacking programs to protect themselves, and attack others, as well as assist in hacking.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Your character is an amateur, currently freelance, hacker, who has used traditional methods up until now. They have recently considered the possibility that it's time for an upgrade, and have decided to consider getting their own Digimon program. This RP opens with your character at the Black Market, realizing that if they do want a Digimon and Digimon Capture Program, they only have enough cash for an In-Training one.

Abilities: [You get 5 points to select abilities with, from the shop down below.]

Shop:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Hacker Skills:
Invade: Invade a digital space by fighting off the space's security.[Successfully invaded spaces are under your character's control as long as they are there unopposed]
Trace: Create a simple weapon[Such as an Axe, a Sword, a Spear, a Bow and Arrows, etc. The weapon's effects and dice damage bonus are adjusted based on what weapon it is, and what weapon your target is using, if any.]

Code Scan[1 point]: Scan a target Digital Space to determine its security before attempting to invade it, or scan an enemy to determine its attribute and element. This skill can also be used to gain instant access to locked information without a skill check.

Acceleration[1 point]: Double your character's speed for a turn.

High Security[2 points]: Enables your character to tether Digimon to locations and Digital Spaces to prevent others from invading. Cannot be used on enemy Digimon, instead uses the encounter roll to determine the tethered Digimon [Digimon tethered can only attack enemies from a certain range and are not considered programs owned by the tetherer, they simply stay there and attack whatever comes into range. When defeated, they become Digi-Eggs and are sent to the Digital World. When this skill is used, a random Digimon is selected. This skill has a cooldown. Digimon tethered do not Digivolve. Has a cooldown.]

Function Call[1 point]: Call a Digimon to your location. [Digimon called this way are not owned by the caller, and are determined by the encounter roll.]

Restore[1 point]: Restore a damaged Digital Object to perfect condition. [Doesn't work on Digimon or people, does work on Obelisks, non-Digimon Hacker Gear, Zero Arms, etc.]

Master Controller[2 Points]: Construct an Obelisk in a successfully invaded space, giving your character remote control over that space. [Allows remote control over real world objects that successfully invaded Digital Spaces are associated with, examples including Power Plants, Factory Machinery, stores, vehicles, hospital equipment, etc. One obelisk at a time. Obelisks cannot fight off Invaders and are destroyed when their HP reaches zero. If another Hacker restores a destroyed Obelisk with the Restore Skill, it is now their Obelisk.]

Zero-Arms[2 Points]: Your character owns their own Zero-Arms, an autonomous Digital Object, programmed to follow their every order.[Zero-Arms, in this universe, are human-created Digital Objects. They do not use DS while active, can be sent away from the player an infinite distance, and are capable of sending reports back to the owner while separated. Applications include surveillance, combat, hacking, disruption, etc. Zero Arms are damaged beyond operation when defeated and must be personally retrieved, as they do not instantly return to the owner's Digivice unless ordered. If a restore skill is not used on a defeated Zero Arms, they will need to be transferred back into the owner's Digivice and need time to rebuild themselves.]

Malware[1 Point]: Your character builds Malware and uses them to spy on others. Malware can also be used as status effect traps when discovered. [Malware can be planted on characters and objects within melee range of your character. Your character can have 3 Malware active at any time. Malware can be discovered at the time it's planted with a skill check or an intelligence check. If planted at a location, a skill check can be initiated each time your character comes in close proximity. If planted on a character, a skill check can be initiated each time the Malware is checked by the planter.]

Advanced Trace[1 point]: Your character has practiced the Trace hacker skill frequently enough to be capable of Tracing more complicated weapons. [Your character can trace hand guns and explosives, as well as simple weapons. Weapons created by Advanced Trace have a higher damage modification roll.]

Illusion[1 point]: Your character has practiced creating fake digital bodies with no collision, as well as altering their own appearance.[Your character is capable of creating decoys, as well as altering their physical appearance.]

Generic Spell[1 point]: Your character has put time into copying a single generic Digimon spell, and is now capable of casting it, using DS instead of SP.[Select an element, and your character is capable of casting a generic spell of that element. Thunder, Flame, Water, Dark, Light, Neutral, Grass, Wind, Earth.]

Reinforce[1 point]: If your character's HP would be reduced to 0, it is reduced to 1 instead.

Mend[1 points]: Your character can restore 10% of a target's HP.[This ability costs DS to use.]

Disruption[2 points]: Your character can initiate a skill check in response to another hacker's hacking attempt. Winning the skill check will negate their hacking skill and prevent them from using it again in the same encounter.

Generate Mass[2 points]: Your character can force terrain to generate in an unoccupied location until they leave the area.[Generated terrain has HP and can be destroyed.]

FireWall[2 points]: Your character can block Invaded Digital Spaces with a FireWall until they leave.[Firewalls are weak defenses that are immobile, have one attack, and have 75% of the stats of your Hacker in each category.]

Bruteforce Attack[1 point]: Alert the security force in a target Digital Space.

Crash[2 points]: Crash an invaded Digital Space, preventing it from operating until it is rebooted.

Natural Selection[1 point]: Rather than this Digimon Digivolving based on your character's actions, you may select what this Digimon Digivolves to.

Recuperation[2 points]: Regain 5% SP every turn.

Mimicry[2 points]: This Digimon is capable of copying another nearby Digimon's Signature Skill.

Abomination[2 points]: Can be used in battle to inflict damage to an enemy Digital Body[By biting the target] and regain HP based on the damage dealt, and also allows your Digimon to eat other Digital Bodies[Eating a Digital Body will cause your Digimon to lose 1 Max HP permanently, and will add 1 to a random stat permanently. Eating a Digital Body also causes your Digimon to gain +1 ABI, but also may eventually cause mutations].

Skill+1[1]: Your Digimon starts with an extra skill.

Electrically Charged Mandibles[2 points]: Your Digimon's basic attacks may paralyze the target.

Spirit Crash[3 points]: Your Digimon's presence drains extra DS from other nearby enemy Hackers.

Autonomy[2 points]: You may give your Digimon a personality, and your Digimon may leave your Hacker's side to perform other actions as instructed, like a Zero-Arms. Zero-Arms Sheet:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

[Your Zero-Arms gets 120 stat points to spend]

HP: [When this hits 0, your Zero-Arms is damaged beyond operation and must be recovered. Multiply your Zero-Arm's Defense by 3 for its value.]

Appearance:[Zero-Arms typically look mechanical in appearance and are capable of transforming into an object or vehicle. You may give a detailed description or provide an image.]
Attribute: [Your Zero-Arms can start as Data or Free]
Element: [Your Zero-Arm's may be selected from the list.]
Strength: 1[Your Zero-Arm's physical strength, determines the damage its physical attacks inflict, also used during strength checks.]
Defense: 1[Determines the percentage of damage mitigated against physical attacks, caps at 50]
Intelligence: 1[Determines the percentage of ability damage mitigated, and improves chances of recovering from status effects, caps at 50]
Speed: 1[Improves your Zero-Arm's chances of striking before your opponent, landing hits, escaping battles, and passing speed checks]
Agility: 1[Improves your Zero-Arm's chances of evading damage, also determines whether your Zero-Arms succeeds in passing Agility checks.]
Technique: 1[Improves your Zero-Arm's chances of succeeding during skill checks and is used for ranged attacks]
Tech Level: 1[Using your Zero-Arms to invade and hack Digital Spaces or defeat opponents has a chance of raising its Tech Level. Each time its Tech Level is raised, it gains a stat point which can be allocated as you wish.]

Skill List:[Choose two generic skills from the list in the OP.]

Hacking Skills: [Starts with Invade and has its weapon built in, which is uses for its basic attacks. You get 3 points to select Hacker Skills for your Zero-Arms.]

Mechanics:
Distance and AOE:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

There are three distances, and once per turn, you may alter this distance by one grade. The distances are Close[Melee attacks can be carried out at this range]
Medium[This is where the vast majority of ranged attacks may be carried out. All ranged attacks only have this range unless specified]
Long[Very few attacks can be carried out at this range. An attack can only be carried out from this range if specified.]

AOE attacks, like explosives and small area attacks damage the target enemy and all other entities and objects within close range of the target.

Attacks and checks:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

For checks, the formula is as follows:

[Insert stat]+1d20=[x]-[opposing stat]+1d20=[x]
If the above comes out negative, you fail the check. If the above comes out positive, you succeed. Stat reductions are also taken into account during these steps.

Close range basic attacks use this formula:
[Speed]+1d20=[x]-[enemy agility]+1d20=[x]
If the result is negative, your attack misses. If the result is positive, you roll for damage:
[Strength]+[Weapon roll]-[Target defense as a percentage]=[x][Fractions are rounded up]

Ranged basic attacks use this formula:
[Technique]+1d20=[x]-[enemy agility]+1d20=[x]
If the result is negative, your attack misses. If the result is positive, you roll for damage:
[Technique]+1d20=[x]-[enemy defense as a percentage]+1d20=[x][fractions are rounded up]

Ability damage uses this formula:
[Technique]+1d20=[x]-[enemy agility]+1d20=[x]
If the result is negative, your attack misses. If the result is positive, you roll for damage:
[Intelligence]+1d20=[x]-[enemy intelligence as a percentage]+1d20=[x][fractions are rounded up]

Status effect recovery uses the following formula:
[Intelligence]+1d20-[enemy technique]+1d20=[x]
If the result is negative, you fail. If the result is positive, you recover from the status effect.

If I missed anything, please let me know.

here's a message to say that i'm making my sheet, but i wanted to ask a few questions first.

how do you decide your digimon's element? the wiki page for my digimon doesn't display anything of the sort. and for hackers; do they get points to spend on their skills too, or can they just select them for free?

In responsee to attribute and element:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Most In-Training Digimon don't have an element or Attribute. In most cases, I'll be referring to one of the games in the series that give elements to the Digimon, like Digimon Story, Digital Card Battle, Digimon World, etc. If you have questions regarding specific Digimon, you can feel free to ask me. Some can also be guessed based on what 'type' they are, for example Poyomon is a Jellyfish, so he would typically be Water, while others can also be decided based on what Family(Virus Buster, Wind Guardian, etc.) they belong to.

At this point, your Digimon will most likely be Free Attribute with no Element until it Digivolves. I listed Element and Attribute so that everyone who reads it would know they're a factor. That said, I completely forgot to mention what kind of factor it is, so I'll explain that here:

Attribute are like RPS. Virus>Data>Vaccine>Virus. When battling a Digimon that's weak to your Attribute, they take 15% extra damage, and the same goes for Attribute.

Water>Flame>Grass>Wind>Earth>Thunder>Water
Meanwhile Dark and Light both get a bonus against each other.

If your Digimon has dual advantage against the opponent, their bonus amounts to 30% together.

Further specifics on skills, abilities, and attacks:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Hackers get 5 points to spend on hacker skills from the first shop. The second shop is for Digimon to spend their own separate points on passive abilities. The Digimon Skill shop is for you to select which four skills your Digimon gets in addition to its signature[The signature being the Digimon-specific skill it has, which it loses when it Digivolves and gains a new one in its place, dependent on which Digimon it is]. I'll also take this opportunity to mention that Digimon have unnamed basic attacks that they can also use, which passively have the same element that the Digimon itself has[Meaning that if you'd like to just give your Digimon utility-based skills, it could still attack with its basic attacks and its signature.].

I hope this explanation was clearer than the OP. Feel free to ask further questions if you have them, or request that I elaborate further.

Name: Seo-Yeon Bellamy "Irene"
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Image

Background: Seo-Yeon Bellamy is the only daughter of the CEO of a prestigious trading company (named Kemp Bellamy). Her mother was a model whom her father had grown attracted to (named Lee Sa-bi), and she was the product of a brief tryst the two had. Her mother had died during childbirth and her father didn't know she existed until he was contacted as her only living family member, but thankfully, he had the heart to take her in despite the strangeness of the event and the possible scandal. Seo-Yeon was raised in a rich, balanced environment, though she was well sheltered from many aspects of life. She lives in Massachusetts, but had spent a lot of time touring around the world with her active and adventurous father. Due to this, she's learned many things and was taught many languages by her father's tutors. She can speak English, Spanish, Dutch, and some French. Her tutors also taught her a variety of different subjects, as her father wished for her to be properly educated for when she took over the family business, something Seo-Yeon's confessed to wanting to do since she was a young child.

Seo-Yeon wasn't the most social of people, however. Travelling as much as she did meant she made very little friends, her father was a party animal who would never return home without a companion (she found that repulsive), her tutors were all fairly by-the-book, and she was an only child. Her father didn't realize how much of a problem this was until the two settled down in America so that she could go to college. Seo-Yeon struggled with people greatly, and she attracted a lot of attention from her peers. But her frosty demeanor (the attitude she learned from her tutors, she defaults to it when she's uncomfortable) and awkwardness kept most people from approaching her. Except for one person.

This one person was a young woman named Jules, the daughter of a tycoon. Jules was a narcissistic bookworm who also had no friends, and was 'kind' enough to take pity on Seo-Yeon and try to befriend her. The two hit it off with a rocky start (especially when Jules gave Seo-Yeon the nickname of "Irene" because "Seo-Yeon" is apparently a weird name), but became friends through their love for books. They were inseparable afterwards, and as Jules was her only friend, Seo-Yeon became incredibly attached and dependent on her.

Which proved to not have been too good of a thing, since Jules was much like her father in that she loved to party and cut loose. Jules would often drag innocent Seo-Yeon around, trying to break the girl out of her shell and teach her to enjoy herself more often. Which somehow lead to Seo-Yeon getting pressured into becoming a hacker. And on that day, she was taught a valuable lesson. Friends exist to get you in heaps of trouble and nothing but.
Personality: Seo-Yeon had a reputation for being a cold, intelligent, and unforgiving woman. That couldn't be further from the truth. The real Seo-Yeon was an awkward girl who had trouble opening herself up to people and had a fear of fun. She's an anti-social know-it-all who was very confident, but just didn't know how to deal with people. She had your typical moral compass, but her time with Jules had taught her to be a bit more selfish and less resistant to small crimes. She's a very methodical and in-the-box type of person, who prefers traditional approaches to more creative ones, with a pragmatic and realistic view on things. She's incredibly dependent on the few she lets into her heart, like Jules, and is easily influenced and pushed around at that point. Kind of reminiscent of a book in how boring she can be.

Seo-Yeon's father is a very free, caring, and fun-loving man. He's many things she can't understand, and his inability to restrain his sexual urges kept her opinion of him low. She's also deeply worried that such a man is her father and refuses to think about their possible similarities (does she have his sexual drive, is she gonna turn out to be an irresponsible parent, will her spending habits become incredibly excessive, etc.), though she does love him.

Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Curie is a fair-skinned girl with long, peach-colored hair and pink eyes, she's very short, and usually wears headphones, a white sleeveless hoodie with fur on the edges and cat ears on the hood, over a white sleeveless T-shirt, over a green long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of white short shorts.

Background: Curie was born in Idaho and spent her life being dragged from state to state with her parents, as her father was in the Military. The constant moving prevented her from making any real friends, as she could never stay in contact with them outside EDEN, and forced her to often spend time with her mother, as she couldn't find anything else to do. This, of course, would not normally be a problem, however her mother often forced her to do things with her that made her uncomfortable. It wasn't until she had reached 12 that she discovered that what her mother had doing to her was rape, all this time. This discovery drove her to begin teaching herself how to hack, to get away, however her pent up sorrow and rage caused her to use these newfound skills to create trouble for those around her, by taking control of Hospital equipment and pulling the plug on patient's life support and causing accidents by altering traffic lights. This massive amount of newfound sadism eventually became apparent to those around her, at the age of 16, prompting her family to disown her, showing Curie that she needed to keep this side of her hidden. While she was never stopped by the police, Zaxon was a constant thorn in her side, driving her to not only hack for her own personal gain and amusement, but also to eventually become such a powerful Hacker that she could personally end Zaxon as a team.

Personality: She tries to appear and act cute and innocent, but deep down, she secretly causes accidents, sometimes leading to death, for her own amusement, and doesn't mind conducting illegal activity.

Background: Karina is a pure hearted soul who wouldn't hurt anyone without a very good reason. Native to Russia, the dissolution of the USSR had brought hardship upon her family. They were true believers of the USSR's ideals, and they very often got into arguments and fights with those that prefer the modern Russia. Karina often ended up in the middle of it. She was kidnapped by the more assertive enemies of her family and held for ransom, with no harm done to her. Her father being a wealthy, by Russian standards, individual was able to pay off whatever ransom they demanded. However, this just fostered more hate in their family. Except for Karina. Karina could not fathom why her family was so hateful of those than believed in a modern Russia over the USSR, and why those that believed in a modern Russia hated her family so much. She often researched it on the computer that her family was able to buy, but still could not understand it all. During her research however, she learned to become a hacker. Mostly by accident, as she learned to find and manipulate the source code of open source sites as a way to pass the time. However, she then stumbled upon the digiverse, and found her escape from reality. The digital world proved to be much more friendly and happy than her world, at least the areas she was in. She ended up growing very fond of it, and ended up creating her own servers where everyone can have a safe, friendly space in her country that was anything but. She highly idealized this friendly world, and actively pursued and crushed those that sought to disturb the peace. Ending up having taken the role of a peacekeeper, she became very adamant about rules and being a good person. Those who sought to create chaos were enemies not only to her and her server, but to humanity as a whole. They were the reason her country was such a mess. While she couldn't do anything about it in the real world, she made it her goal to do something about it in the digital world.

Personality: Karina is a good natured, friendly person who believes rules should be followed and everyone should be a good person. She could care less about ethnicity, religion, etc. as long as that person is good in her eyes. However, because of her adamant views, she often stood very late nights on the server, and slowly developed into an insomniac. While this usually isn't a problem, it often provides a lapse in thinking or judgment when dealing with situations. She may also suddenly fall asleep if she gets too tired.

Background: William was born to a pair of very doting parents who were always proud of how smart he was, but the boy found his studies just didn't challenge him and he grew bored. Starting in Sophmore year, he learned about how to hacking into people's private spaces in EDEN. It allowed him to see EDEN in a new light, and he began to hone skills on accessing private data in secret. Mostly people around him where the stacks were little more than embarrassment for his victims. He never did anything with the information he found. Simply knowing it in secret was enough. Keeping his activities hidden from his parents was the most difficult part as he found new ways of protecting his secrets.

Things changed as he found himself preparing to go to college. Realizing his parents would no longer be around to wonder what he was doing from hour to hour, he realized he'd need to find a new way to raise the stakes in his illicit activities. That meant more well-secured targets than he'd ever dealt with before. Even he was a bit concerned about his chances, and so he decided to finally look into getting himself a Digimon to help him along in his activities. Still, he didn't want his parents to know what he was doing, and higher education wasn't exactly cheap, so he scrapped together what he thought he could spare planning to get whatever he could afford with it. He didn't expect to get anything top of the line, but he'd thought he'd at least afford a Rookie. Oh well, that just meant he had to raise it up. Just one more challenge to put himself to.

Personality: William can be very self-assured to the point of cockiness. He can sometimes have a hard time getting motivated, but when he does, there is little he will allow to get in his way of his objective.

Name: Minerva Thompson
Age: 19
Sex: female
Appearance: Minerva takes great care in her appearance, and has a fondness for wearing expensive, but stylish clothing and jewellery.

627b442240945c300cbb1c0d3e9eab15.jpg (37.43 KiB) Viewed 1282 times

Background: Minerva Thompson was born in Concord, New Hampshire to a well off family. Her childhood was without most worries and she excelled at school. Although Minerva wasn’t nerdy or awkward, she made few friends. She was distant and even condescending to those that didn’t keep up with her. She had better things to do than involving herself in the petty high school drama of others, but she was loyal and helpful to the few people she did deem worthy to befriend.

Minerva’s learned from her cynical father that the world consisted of three kinds of people, those that want your money, those that want all your money and those that want your money really badly. Remembering this, her goal was to make sure she got herself into a position of power and wealth. To that end, the opportunities of EDEN weren’t lost on Minerva. She used her time she didn’t need doing homework to learn how to hack.

The experience was trilling and fun for her. Hacking gave her a feeling of power and a rush of adrenaline that was sorely lacking from her life. Normal hacking soon didn’t satisfy Minerva anymore, and she set out on her own to find a digimon and truly become a master of EDEN.

Personality: Minerva doesn’t consider herself evil, just realistic. The world is divided into the powerful and the powerless, and you’re allowed to use most methods to get into power. Although she is willing to cheat and manipulate, she’d never betray those she does hold close and befriend and she doesn’t enjoy provoking unnecessary violence. If she does have to fight, she won’t hold back, however, her inner sadism taking over from her cold calculations.

MrBlah/Irene
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Name: Seo-Yeon Bellamy "Irene"
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Appearance: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/c9/db/96/c9db ... dbaef5.jpg

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Name: Curie Bennington
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Appearance: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0e/40/48 ... b56e6a.jpg

Digimodification:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Each Digivice has a card reader on it, which allows Hackers to scan Digimodification cards to use in battle. These cards are specially made and collected by hackers, and allow them to temporarily alter a Digimon's physical properties, appearance, or abilities. Each Digimon's duration before correcting their bodies back to normal is determined by their stats. These alterations from cards are treated by Digimon as status effects, causing them to roll for recovery each turn a card is active until their bodies revert to normal. Digimodifications can only be applied to a Digimon once per battle, but all cards are re-usable outside of that limitation.

Card functions include add-on abilities, passives, stat modifiers, basic attack modifiers, Degeneration, and in some rare cases irreversible mutations or Digivolutions.

Cards can often be found on the Black Market, and by defeating enemies.

Hacker Tier:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Hacker Tier is loosely connected to Reputation, but is a different state because it is how powerful your Hacker is perceived to be, regardless of how much other hackers like or dislike your hacker. Your character's Hacker Tier changes based on your Hacker's actions throughout the RP, their hacker skills, their Digimon, and their Zero-Arms if they have one. Taking on high-risk tasks for a team or client, or simply for the thrill, will affect this as well. Failing tasks and cases will cause your Hacker Tier to decrease, as well.

Hacker Tiers are each split into three, with 1 being the highest of that tier, and 3 being the lowest.

Reputation:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Your hacker's reputation is how much other hackers respect your character. The lower the number is, the less your hacker is respected by others, however, some hacker groups also prefer a negative reputation. Basically, the hackers who hack only for personal gain remain at or around 0, hackers who act as vigilantes have a negative reputation, and hackers who are generally seen as malicious have a positive reputation.

Cases:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Your character can use their Digivice to anonymously place their name into special database to be contacted for cases by individuals, like a mercenary. Completing these cases will help improve a hacker's tier, and allow them to change their reputation. Your hacker's reputation and tier will also determine the nature and skill level of these cases.

Similarly, depending on your Hacker's reputation and tier, they may be contacted by Hacker Teams for case,
allowing them to gain standing with these teams, and possibly giving them a chance to join them.

Note: The shop in the OP of this thread, both for Digimon and for Hackers, will be updated every so often. Please check it frequently to information on newly added Hacker Skills and Digimon Abilities.
