Hunter School 2 (OOC)

Postby porne » Wed Apr 12, 2017 3:02 am

I figure that since it's come up, I'll create a thread for anyone that missed their shot at the first one. This is another option to run in the Hunter School setup that is used in Huntress Lina or in Hunter School. I'm perfectly fine with further customization if anyone has requests.

The general set up is a modern urban fantasy of a school/college for monster hunting. Characters are broken down by 'class' which defines their skills, rather than purely their roll. Players will be part of a four person team, and they'll need to hash out responsibilities and team roll in game. The bulk of the characters time is spent practicing their skills in class, as a team, and in a 'danger room' set up, with eventual forays into the world to hunt demons and such. I tend to run magic as moderately powerful, but characters will generally exhaust themselves if they push too hard. Magic outside of combat is more likely to succeed, and planning ahead is encouraged.

As with most urban fantasy, you'll find zombies, werewolves and vampires and such, but I'm cool with most fictional creatures. The more magically powerful, the more likely they are to be ruled by whims or instinct, and thus more likely to attack humans. Humans are strongly dominant, but demi-humans are present. For the most part, school staff accepts both demi's and monsters with self control.

Standard Character Chart:

Kinks:
Anti-Kinks:

12 Pts, max of 10

Special Skills: You get 2 skills for one of the above points. Keep it fairly reasonable, but they can be powerful. If you've got a magic user of some kind, really basic spells are free, or you can take a magic specialty that gives you access to more powerful abilities of one kind in exchange for penalties to other types of magic.

I have never done an RP on here before, and while I have years of experience of roleplay on World of Warcraft, I've never done much forum RP. I'll need help with rules and such but if you're willing to take on a noob I'd love to play.

Name: Obera Atiliet
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

She’s very short for her age, from the top of her head to the tip of her tail she’s only around three meters tall. Most of that extra length apparently converted itself into her serpentine hair, a set of twelve snakes sprouting from her head which have grown long enough unchecked to gain their own personalities, though, due to their proximity and the energy they share with her, they are more like smaller copies of her than their own creatures. Each has enough length that they reach down to her shoulderblades or, perhaps more impressively, her nips, and they have enough width that four of them can easily form a curtain over her face when she’s feeling a little antisocial. Down from her head, she looks like an average nineteen-year-old girl, a little sharp-edged around the jaw and nose but nothing that might look out of place, unless you fail to believe that the blue-ish purple tint to her lips is not her natural color. Her eyes are similarly and abyssal blue-purple, at least, they look that way through the large round tinted goggles that you can see them through, and you should rather hope that’s the only way you ever see them. Speaking of her eyes, they always seem to bear this slightly worried, thoughtful expression, as though at all times she’s making a plan and doesn’t like her chances. Her skin is smooth, pale and sunless, not carrying a single mark, pock or spot, and lacking even the muscle definition that usually comes with having to transport yourself by slithering all the time, this particular girl clearly leads a slightly more sedentary lifestyle based on the more rounded definition of her belly and her waist. Her chest, similarly, is a full and healthy D, but that only serves to make her locomotion more difficult. The entirety of her unusual figure ends at her thighs which, as is normal for her race, dissolve slowly into a long and thick scaly snaketail patterned with sequential stripes: Red, black, yellow, black, so on. The only break in the pattern comes early on, right ‘between’ her thighs where, in theory, it should be, is a thin pink line, the whole of her female anatomy only mostly hidden behind her scales. Her headsnakes repeat the coloring, but not the pattern. Instead, the color appears in quarters down the length of every snake. Red from root to a quarter down, then black for a quarter, yellow, and then black down to the end of the head.

Species: Gorgon.
Class: (Currently: Ninja, Soldier, {Healer}, Mage, Warrior)
Backstory:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

When her traditionalist Naganese family found themselves in dire straits, an offer was made surreptitiously between the Obera’s mother and a trader of, should we say, exotic pets, and four of a brood of thirteen eggs were sold to make up for costs. However, on her pre-consciousness trip to her fate, one of the trader’s more dangerous pets broke free of her magical restraints and called down a bolt of lightning on the truck they were being transported in, stopping it dead in a more dangerous neighbourhood and giving her time to kill the driver and trader and make her escape. In the commotion, Obera’s egg rolled beneath one of the seats, overlooked by the looters and demons that took the rest of the eggs and still-chained creatures away, leaving it to be found by one of the investigators who arrived hours later. The old man, feeling sorry for the misplaced and forgotten child, pocketed the egg and took it back to his home. It was only a moderate surprise to him that, despite the abuse it had taken, it still actually hatched, and out from the shell slithered an undersized and mute young gorgon.

She was raised rather interestingly, in that, given her body, she couldn’t very well be given freedom to live with the officer, his wife and their two human children. So, she was put in the largest, most open room with as much verticality as they could, with the added benefit that the two children never went in there, not that they weren’t allowed to until she came. It was all the same for her, though, as she loved it in that study.

Her saviour did a bit of research on her old family, finding that since selling some of their brood the matron had become overtaken with a sort of sorrowful madness that had broken her remaining family apart, giving ample reason not to return the poor stunted girl in the library. She had no record of ever existing, meaning that becoming a surrogate guardian would only be a matter of registering her under his own last name and making sure he could provide a good home or education for her. The first part was simple, the latter, however, turned out to be tricky, as while his wife had urged to keep her at home, the two children were appalled with her, and did not take nicely to discovering that she’d been taking food, care and attention away from them while being such a freak of nature. They were furious at their parents that they were never told about her, and they, being two boys raised to their role, had no idea how to treat a girl that was also a snake with snake hair and goggles she can’t take off that was apparently meant to be their family. She found herself the target of significant venom and bile from the two of them, though with her lacking a voice or even considerable will making these incidents known to her adopted parents wasn’t likely to ever happen if they’d never found out on their own. The more the couple tried to help, however, the more the two children lashed out at her, and as she grew and developed breasts and a feminine body, the brothers who had never recognized her as family found their cruelty growing more sexual by the month. She was sent away when she lost her virginity to her ‘brothers’ under threat and force, and had to be moved to a boarding school that would actually take students like her while her parents worked to determine exactly how much trouble the pair of brothers ought to be in for what they’d done.

[this is getting a little long, so I'll leave it there. There's more which might explain some of the odd bits, but I don't want to overwhelm]

Kinks: Humiliation, submission, bondage, objectification, petplay, capture, force, giving to the victor the spoils.
Anti-Kinks: Extreme gore, death, that’s… it.

12 Pts, max of 10
STR: 0
DEX: 2
CON: -1
INT: 6
WIS: 3
CHA: 2

Special Skills: Options are[Stonegaze {She takes off her goggles and attempts to petrify an opponent with a look. Petrification is reversible, and wears off after around two-three days depending on the size of the victim, but can affect anyone if I forget to put the goggles back on}, constrictive hugs {She has the ability to grapple people with a full-body bind, keeping their arms and legs still without much effort on her part, as long as they are around as tall as the tallest human. She can also hold on tightly to anything larger in size, and if she gets around their neck she can incapacitate them with greater ease}, serpent kiss {She can remove or add poison to a creature's system with a kiss, the effectiveness of this ability gets weaker each time she uses it over the course of one day}, milk-snake’s blessing {Her breasts produce milk at a rather astounding rate, quite unusual for someone her age who's never been pregnant before. This milk may or may not also have magical properties}]. A majority of her self-teaching in terms of help fighting has gone toward medicine, using a mix of magic and chemicals to mend her own scales and soft flesh after incidents, and heal her brothers and father after altercations at work or school. In honesty, she's really not yet qualified at all to fight anything threatening.

Lord Butts, I think you came to the right GM.

Ash, I think Stonegaze might be a bit too powerful. I'll let you have constrictive hug as a racial ability, but you'll need to make a dex roll against your target, and they'll get a turn or two to try and break free before they're unconscious. You also won't be able to move way from your opponent, but your hands will be free. Also, don't be surprised if events come up where you've got a disadvantage of some kind to try and balance you out. If you want the magic abilities, it'll cost a point. Let me edit that in.

A word on magic systems. Unless anyone objects, this will run on a simply INT roll for each cast. If you take a magic specialty, you can use low power magic without the INT roll, and have access to higher power magic within specialty. However, you'll have a penalty to all other forms of magic that the character can use, generally totally unable to use magic outside of specialty in combat and having to make an INT roll outside of combat.

Weapons will be made of 'magical disruptive compound' or laced with it. MDC will result in always being able to damage something, but unless it's something entirely animated by magic, it will do no bonus damage beyond that. Using silver on werewolves, or holy weapons on undead will not only prevent them from healing, but will act as poison if it's lodged in their body. This prevents any kind of weird type immunity situation. Magic users can't use magic when there's MDC in contact with their body. For all purposes, anything taking place in a simulator or whatever we will assume that the material has been swapped for dummy rounds, and the simulator knows how the stuff should react.

I tried to keep a balance between being realistic (there's no reason a gorgon would not be able to use stonegaze as much as she wants) and being reasonable (a young and inexperienced gorgon would not be able to petrify someone forever, and they also wouldn't be able to turn the power off) Balancing factors I tried to include but might not have made clear: In exchange for stonegaze, my character is mute. They don't have a voice, which means they can't cast any spells that require verbal incantations, nor can they easily call for help should something goes wrong. Also, stonegaze only works if I can look directly in a character's eyes. What it's meant to be is a last resort if something bad's looking at me and no one else can presently help, along with a way to temporarily stop heavily injured people from dying. However, if you still think so, I'd rather just not have it than have another consistent disadvantage, so I'll give it up if it's going to cost me more than one of my skill points.

This character isn't meant to be super powerful, so I'm glad you're telling me things like this. I just also want to play her race just as much as her character. Any alternative like paralysis for a round or maybe a charm gaze or something?

Hello, I am also a bit of a noob myself, having only had one experience with a forum RP before this, and it died off pretty quickly, so I still consider myself brand new. Perhaps we can build a bit of a noob party :P (For spells I'm going with a sorta lesser to greater kinda thing, so from worst variant to best it goes Petty,Lesser,Normal,Augmented,Greater,Superior,Masterfull,Legendary. So a normal spell lets say can raise a corpse of any kind for a set duration. and a Legendary can raise any corpse for until it dies and it gains a sword, flames, and has a protective barrier around it and is sentient.)

Name: Iris
Gender: Female
Appearance: 5'8" 152 lb
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Image

Species: Human
Class: Mage (necromantic field)
Back Story: Iris was always fascinated with the dead, having been in a area surrounded by death by nature due to a high present of corruptive forces, it soon became clear to here that it was her calling. Having found a book on lesser necromancy in a ruined library, she had studied it intensely, learning some basic necromantic spells. She had practiced with them for a long time, coming to possibly know how to cast even greater spells, unfortunately there was something stopping her from continuing on with the practice. Corruptive powers. The powers came to hate Iris for having their victims rise up again and harass them when she wasn't looking, and had multiple times attempted to kill her for her talents. Every time she managed to escape though, and that, deciding her current area was to hostile for her to continue her practice, she went to the Hunter School, that way she could turn the tables on the corruptive forces, and continue to practice her powers and possibly even learn greater ones. And save the world while she's at it to maybe.
Kinks(Major ones are bolded): Futa, necrophilia, dominating, tentacles, blood, gore, ovipositors.
Anti-Kinks(Major ones are bolded): Submissiveness (on her part), scat, piss, nothing else.

Petty Detect undead (Basic, Once every 10 minutes, the caster can detect any undead or necromantic tainted objects in a 50 foot radius)
Petty Raise Dead (Basic, Can raise one corpse below 50 lb for 10 minutes, corpse must have 50% of flesh remaining)
Lesser Raise Dead (Can raise one corpse for up to 30 minutes, corpse must have at least 50% of flesh remaining)
Lesser Raise Dead, Poison aspect. (Can Raise one corpse for up to 20 minutes, corpse must have 75% of flesh remaining, corpse gains a poisoned appendage or poison ability, poison is also considered Lesser, dealing a max of 2 dmg per turn for 3 turns)

Ash: I did not spot the part about being mute, which I will not demand. Temporary paralysis is fair as a racial, I'm just trying to avoid one hit kills for things which are very powerful.

Littlemankitten: I don't know if everyone is going to be okay with necro, and I really would like you to elaborate on what you mean by that and blood and gore. Futa, dom, tentacles and ovi are fine, but those others give me pause. Your spells are fairly balanced as far as I'm concerned as you've pretty clearly gone necromancer specialty. Also, if you do proceed with this character, others are going to be a bit weirded out, as undead and necromancers are usually enemies, although the school is fairly open minded, all good?

Well, to Iris necromancy isn't an "evil" thing. She does necromancy because to her its just another skill used to aid in combat or life. She doesn't wish to kill people or see the death of all life. Necromancy is just using the tools that life gives you. To help her case she does despise senseless killing and hates those that wish to see the death of the living, to her "evil" is still "evil". Also I can get rid of blood and gore, I just thought in the area she grew up in it would probably be a common occurrence and she would of developed interesting tastes, but if you want it removed I will. As for the others, well, as long as they don't try and kill her Iris is fine with it.

It's okay, but I'm concerned about what you might want. Fucked by zombies/vampires or whatever is fine. I really don't want to do anything like have a rotting chunk of zombie break off in your character during sex or anything, ick. Is that okay with you? I figure undead are a common problem because of crappy necromancers that unleash them because they don't care. Might do a bit of focus on sending you after undead menaces because of your specialty.

@Ash, I'll give you full stonegaze if it's weak enough that your opponent gets to make a saving throw, powerful creatures will have an easier chance resisting it but might get stuck with a lesser effect.

I dunno, sounds pretty sexy to me ;)

As for the stonegaze problem, how about a compromise. The effectiveness of the stonegaze will be based on, say, my int versus their dex, if they succeed they're unaffected but if they fail they're frozen for the rest of the combat unless they are with a healer of their own? And in exchange, my character can use it whenever they want on a maximum of one target per round, and they're not mute. Sound like a deal? It's almost starting to sound a little underpowered for my character's primary ability, I'm going to need to add some better healing-based skills in to help with, say, her actual class.

I'll think on that a bit, and get back to you with my ideas. Assuming, of course, that Bind and Stonegaze are the only special abilities I'm allowed to keep.

Yea that's fine, we could have no undead do anything like that to and that's still fine, its more of a generalization than anything. Iris may be completely ok with rotting zombie in her but us well, maybe not XD

That was what I was thinking of when you mentioned necrophilia, and I'm not up for that sort of stuff. Sex with various undead is fine, just don't want to do anything rotting stuff.

Back Story:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Early in her childhood Sophie was a child of a Beastmaster. Her father, owner of a large Dire-wolf, always taught her the importance of life, both human and monster. Her mother taught her to be clever and keep aware of her surroundings at all times, never to left her guard down. Together the couple raised her until she was a teenager, teaching her the ways of the Bow & (Rifle : assuming these exist). Slowly she learned to connect with the local wildlife, Taming her first dire-wolf at an early age. Sadly not long after her idyllic life shattered when a Werewolf killed her father and his wolf in their sleep and stole her mother away. In the midst of night she awoke to the screams of her parents, her wolf leapt into action to save her owners parents. not but moments later did Sophie see her beloved companion's blood splatter across the flap to her tent. She screamed and fled into the forest, she could hear the Werewolf chasing her. It was at this moment she would have been struck down and brutalized as the werewolf's play thing if not for the Wyvern that swooped down and plucked her from the ground that night. At first she struggled but once it had set her down in its cave did she see the light in his eye's, something she felt inside told her there was no reason to fear. It was from that day on that Sophie and Syabux grew from Predator & prey to close companions.

Syabux can fly for an unlimited amount of time on his own but when riding it is reduced to a few hours of sustained flight without rest. Syabux has the abilities to spit streams of fire and alternatively a paralyzing poison. Having grown up with and developed such a close bond with Syabux she can communicate with him by reading his moods and actions, similarly he understands his master in the same way. This give the pair the ability to scout and spot enemies for each-other.

Strategist: Promotes Team cohesion and provides passive buffs when in sight of teammates.
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

When in a group or team scenario Sophie thrives, Because of this all of her teammates (meaning Sophie doesn't receive these) benefit with +1 to STR, DEX & WIS. Also allows for a tactical awareness that provides others knowledge of enemies even when out of sight. (ex: Sophie or Syabux can see them by line of sight but others cannot, yet they know where they are allowing for attacks without L.o.S)

Suggestions are open for the details of the Strategist skill if you think anything else would be helpful.

First idea is something specific against wolves, werewolves and lycanthropes, something maybe having to do with wolfsbane or silver-influsion in your gauntlets, but that'd be equipment, not skill. Maybe your character has some sort of monk-like ability, like an improved dodge or stunning punch? Or maybe it's something sexual, like, I dunno, an energy strike that causes instant orgasm. There's a few ideas, heheh.

If anyone wants to switch their gender to futa, that's cool. Or everyone can share Syabux or whatever Iris summons. Otherwise, I think I'm going to start getting it ready. Did we want to start with a test or just have everyone grouped together and doing their first training mission together?

@Stick, you trade 1 point for 2 skills.

I've never done anything with a pet before, so I'd like any recommendations. My default would be that Sophie is stuck ordering Syabux around for her turns, rather than being able to let the wyrven act totally independently. Once Syabux is busy eating a minotaur or whatever, Sophie can draw her weapon and support the others. But, I've never run one before and I'm not familiar with how other games handle it. Did you have a particular preference weapons wise? Soldiers trend toward tech based weapons.

@Lord Butts: it will depend on what you want to do. Basic weapons are 'free' and won't cost you any points. Did you have any other things you wanted to build your character around, like maybe basic ki manipulation that would let you do more damage if you've gotten a chance to gather energy at the beginning of the fight?
