Hmm, I am a big fan of D'n'D and and wish to make a request that would be more suited for D'n'D but also makes a bit of logical sense. Could the use of a weapon like a rapier use the DEX modifier instead of the STR mod? In D'n'D Rapier is classed as a Light, Finesse weapon. Meaning that the DEX mod can be used as an alternative while using said weapon. I am simply wondering if this could be the case in this RP as well, as it would make sense for a character lacking strength to make it up by using their DEX instead, especially with a weapon like a rapier. However, if you decide not to let it be like that, then I'm cool with that as well.

Sure, that makes sense. Let me go change, although you rolled fairly high as well. Blocking would still use strength if you try to tank it though, as opposed to simply deflect it, yes?

Yes, I imagine blocking with a shield would still take STR. Although, the shield itself should probably give a small bonus for blocking.

The Tunneler bug is still at full health, despite several people attacking it, and these two character decide to leave because there isn't a 100% chance of death... Really? Let me tell you, falling out of a plane without a parachute at the height of 33,333 ft is not a 100% death chance. (World record of surviving free-fall.) Yet I do not think anyone would risk it if they had a chance. Heck, I wouldn't even risk it if there was a 70% chance I wouldn't die, because all of a sudden those 30% come along and bite your ass off. So I personally am having an extremely hard time seeing Vanessa's and Katarina's point of view... Well, unless they're total assholes looking for any excuse they can get to simply not involve themselves in the fight.

Vanessa has less than a mag left (which I had to deus ex machina in the first place and feel guilty about), her intention to avoid this fight was made clear from before it even started.

It's okay, it's taken care of since somebody got a natural 20. It can be executed or enslaved or whatever. This was a poor idea on my part I think. Moving right along. Sorry for the delay.

Okay, does anyone have any specifics besides the anger issues they'd like to take care of before it becomes night time and such?

Yeah, I don't take kindly to people pulling guns and shooting my character. For lack of a better phrase, when that happens, "it's on", because IC there is really no way back from that - you have tried to kill my character, in this case while they were walking away ignoring you to end this engagement because as the Vampire Hunter character it's a bit awkward when the Vampire character starts going all evil pyscho blood sucky.... sought of leads to having to take action (hence the bluff warning with garlic spray... you gonna do that stuff, do it in private where the Vamp Hunter can't see it  ).

Option one is there as a response to the attack on my character, it is the natural reaction that would play out in that circumstance - you have tried to kill my character, I will now try to kill your character. If people wish to change their action, to follow the path of deescalating the situation, there is no need for Option one to happen, hence option 2 - which I prefer

no real attempt was made on her life. katarina fired three shots at vanessa's shoulder, not quite at her head, and there was only an intent to injure and annoy her rather than outright kill her. i get your response being attacking her back in character, that's perfectly fine. but you went terminator mode and outright erased her from existence without her player nor the gm's consent.

IC what is the discernible difference? Upon being hit and turning, Vanessa sees a threat who is aiming a weapon and has fired and hit her. It does not matter where the hit is, a hit to arm/shoulder could be just as much a near miss of the head as as an aimed shot. Why would Vanessa stop to question in that situation and risk getting shot again. No, the threat is ended. To say otherwise is to accept the kid that brought a gun to school was just trying to show how cool it was...

I would assume both Vanessa and Katerina's actions would require GM rolls to succeed. Also, as I have said from the begininng, I am more than willing to change Vanessa's actions if the threat/ attack is removed. If there is no harm there is no foul.

I will unfortunately be away for about 8 days starting tomorrow. As far as I'm aware, I will only have access to mobile wi-fi, if that. I will be a lot less active starting tomorrow. Just so that people are aware.
