Pendulum monsters never go to the graveyard. Put them face-up in the extra deck so you can summon them later.

They go to the grave if discarded or detached from an Xyz monster as an Xyz Material.

This is pretty much exactly how I felt looking up the rules after all these years.


Thanks everyone for all the explanation. I'm still not sure to what extent I'll actually put all this to use, but knowing what I'm up against will still help immensely. Deck should be finished shortly, here's the character sheet.

Bio: Always a gloomy child, Lydia preferred spending time alone to whatever activities the other children were engaged in. Though her parents thought her behavior unhealthy, she felt perfectly content keeping to herself, but that didn't stop them from pushing her to learn to play Duel Monsters. Dueling held little interest to her at first, you needed another person to play with after all. But once she learned of the world of darkness that could be created in the holograms, she put together a deck that could take both her and her opponent there. A true place of tranquil darkness that she enjoy in peace forever and ever....

THE LIGHT, IT BURNS!: Nothing sours Lydia's mood like being dragged into the light. Anyone who does so is sure to bring down the ire of Lydia's sadistic side and end up publicly exposed in the light they love so much.

Bio: Katherine is certainly not the world's next superstar. Shy to a fault, she has few real friends, and rarely stands out in classes. Even her teachers stuggle to say something other than "she's got good grades." And for the most part, that's what she is, a dutiful student who keeps her nose out of trouble and stuffed into books. While maybe not the best duelist, she does have passion for the game, and hopes to be able to work more behind the scenes of the game; making grand holographic stages and amazing worlds for duelists to battle within.

Katherine likes spending a lot of time with her computer, and always has a laptop with her that has strong access to wireless internet, a virtual desktop, and access to plenty of pictures of cute animals. She always wanted a pet, but her parents were allergic, so she has to express her love for animals with cat videos and the like.
