Halo. Operation: Counter-strike.

Postby Rogueybear » Sat Sep 26, 2015 12:24 am

This here thread ye stumbled upon is acting as a recruitment thread, it is however, entirely likely and providing we get some recruits in the first instance , this thread will go on to host the event.

So without further ado, a quick synopsis of the plot:

Reach our fortress world, the last true bastion of humanity is under siege by the Covenant. The last major colony before the greatest gem of all, Earth. Even now our fleets and armies endure massive losses and pyrrhic victories. More and more cities helplessly fall to the enemies might each day. It's clear: we cannot win through conventional means, but we must strike . Troops striking from the shadows, working behind enemy lines and destroying resources that cripple their front. Eliminating data to protect our own. Subtlety is advised. We must use the limited assets and personnel we have; The elite Spartans, the fearless ODSTs, and the resourceful ONI operatives. No longer can we wait, this is our stand, it is time for Humans to go on the attack, it is time for a Counter-strike!

The RP will be set intrinsically in the city of Quezon at least for now.

RP as the antagonistic covenant could be possible, but I'd like to keep it limited. If your dead certain you want to give it a try though, send me a notification and bear in mind that an encounter between the main group and any covenant character is probably going to end violent, both sides could risk capture but don't bank on it.

Character Sheet:

Name:
Military Unit:
Load-out: Excludes unit specific. Try to be sensible. More powerful ordnance should limit your ammunition and alternative choices. I do not want anybody running around with an infinite ammunition rocket launcher etc. Secondly it is possible to start with a covenant weapon in your load out if you really want to, but I'm going to enforce a minimum technology level of 7 for that. 2 frag grenades come as standard unless your an ODST in which case it is 4.
Bio:
Armor Ability: If spartan III or build specific i.e jet-pack for ODST.
Stats: 30 to spend , maximum assignable 10 to each
Precision:
Strength:
Stealth:
Technology:1-5 covers UNSC Tech. 6-10 covers Covenant tech, both increasing in lethality as it requires a higher number. Please bear this in mind if you want to scavenge a weapon off the battlefield or indeed start with a covenant weapon, if you really want to ;) .
Driving/Piloting: Same as Technology really.
Speed:

Spartan-llls- The successors of the Spartan-ll program. They are “expendable" yet deadly super-soldiers of the UNSC. Trained to succeed at missions that would normally be called impossible to others, they are efficient soldiers, trained by the best, to be the best. Spartan-lll units start out with an extra Armor Ability and the highest armor durability and limited shielding.

ODST- The shock troopers of the UNSC Marines, these soldiers dare to do what few could even dream of. Professionals in working behind enemy lines they are adept in the way of stealth, but also in direct offensives. ODSTs start off with a Jetpack, Silenced Pistol (M6C SOCOM), Extra Medpack, 2 aditional Grenades, 2 Extra Magazines for Primary Weapon. Medium Armor ranking

ONI Operative- The Agents of ONI Section lll. Many of ONI’s field operatives work alone, relying on their gadgets and intel to see them through each mission. However it is rare for them to work alongside soldiers since sometimes their goals don’t directly affect the tide of battle. Even so sometimes secrecy must be sacrificed for results. Your armor is the weakest, so if you get into a firefight try to rely on your teammates. ONI agents start with 2 types of gadget and with three of each, a unique semi Tactical intel receiver (in the case of the absence of an ONI operative the squad leader will be given one too,) this allows updates on the battlefield, Radar dampening armor. An ONI operative will have a considerably easier time working with tech than a spartan but that's only a rule of thumb.

Trying to make each unit class viable to give them a use and so not everyone is running around as the same class, some variety really. :?

Stats; Precision affects precision, with all ranged weapon including grenade tosses. Its not done through calculation but bear in mind you wont be throwing a perfect toss or scoring that critical hit every time the lower the number, the more off your aim will be and it will take you longer. Strength affects melee capability and your own endurance, chance to hijack vehicles and break things. Stealth affect chance of being spotted on radars or through sight. Technology affects hacking, operating scavenged alien tech effectively, gathering information and how effective your armor abilities/gadgets are and recharge time. Driving and Piloting affects how well you drive/pilot all crafts, someone with a low score probably won't be able to fly a covenant drop-ship very well. It also affects any on-board weapons of said craft too. Speed affects reflexes, reload speed, running speed.

Provisionary right now. Spartan-llls start off with their armor abilites and SPI-Armor (Strongest of the lot).
ODST will start off with a Jet-pack, silenced pistol and another med-pack so potentialy two in total.
ONI operatives start off with an extra slot of equipment, like the Power drain, Bubble Shield and such.

Some available Armor Abilities: Active Camouflage- Lasts for two turns if moving, three if standing still. Armor Lock- Lasts for two turns. Drop Shield- Lasts for three turns or until shield is destroyed. Hologram- Lasts for two turns. Jetpack- Flight lasts one turn

Available Gadgets: Bubble Shield- Lasts for two turns. Power Drain- Instant Use. Trip Mine- Last for four turns. Portable Gravity Lift- One turn. Radar Jammer- Lasts for three turns. Flare- Instant Use followed by a turn of blindness to anybody in the vicinity, however it will also render the user semi blind if deployed in close quarters, preventing an attack that turn. Regenerator- Lasts two turns. Deployable Cover- Lasts for 5 turns or three turns of incoming fire then shield is destroyed. More could tech could potentially be acquired on the field.

Like to give a huge thank you to Reaver for his support in putting this all together. Even if this unfortunately doesn't go as well as I'm hoping.

Looks like that is everything. If you are interested you can do one of two things. Create a character according to the CS and post it here saying you are interested. If you have a query or would rather keep it private for whatever reason, feel free to PM me. Please, just don't spam my mailbox.

In other words allow personal armor permutations? Don't see why not, it's your character, customize them how you like, can put it in a descriptor or something hmm? :)

well we're here now, I can understand how irritating putting something like this together and then not getting a response is though (personal experiences elsewhere)

Not irritated, just find it funny. There should be a CS topic maybe a page or two back, put CSs there I guess.

:O. Sorry I kinda missed things, had email alerts off and I've started to check back every week or so. Things haven't been to great for me IRL and things on the forums seemed to have slowed down at one point I thought the attempt had failed and was just being ignored , last time I was on about a week ago, whilst it read the last post was away back in October! It was thanks to a personal message from Renara, this came to my attention again. Anyway I am still up for the idea, as Reaver said there should be a CS on the first page or so, I an re-upload it if necessary. Great to finally see some interest ;)

there isn't a separate topic for Character sheets , as far as I can tell (looked back as far as the beginning of the original topic (as in the one before this))
however the CS is available at the top of this

Normally for stuff in the OOC chat, this is the place where you place your CS and whatnot. People have done seperate topics for regular OOC and the sheets, but it's usually preferred to have it all in one topic just so it's all within the same topic.

So if you want to fill out a CS, you can do so here~

Yeah I'd be done to join too, I'm a huge Halo nut so I'd love to try a Halo based RP. Fill out our sheets and just post them here then?

Umm, I guess you could just post it here, try keep it all to one thread, its less cluttered that way? No harm in it.

Well I guess I'll go first and hope this actually comes to life. Also added some Halo 5 stuff, hope thats cool.

Name: Jasmin Rawly
Appearance: https://chan.sankakucomplex.com/post/show/4859066
Class: ONI operative
Military Unit: ONI section 0
Load-out: Suppressed DMR with Sentinel Scope(8x Magazines),M6G magnum(6x Magazines), Frag x2, 4 inch titanium knife/bayonet. VISR. Gadgets: Radar jammer, grav lift
Bio: Jasmin was initially an Intelligence officer For section I, where she learned much in espionage and infiltration. She quickly grew restless of this and tried to reach for something greater, and before long her devotion to guarding humanity no matter the means was noticed. Picked up by the fabled section 0 for her unwavering loyalty to the UNSC and the greater good, offered a position to become used to as one of the branch's few 'controllers'. She is charged by her superiors to monitor possible internal security risks as well as being a sort of covert watch dog to make sure all ONI branches and cells conduct themselves correctly within policy, regulations, and discretion. She is rotated through designated units as required, typically staying for only a few months to examine a specific individual under question and try to steer them back into fold before a breech occurs, or eliminate them discreetly should all attempts of redirecting said individuals efforts to furthering ONI's goals fail. Of course though she has other uses. She is essentially a trained assassin and should the need arise and her location convenient she can be directed to remove targets at ONI's discretion whether they by human or alien.

Jasmine is above all else pragmatic and analytical. She will do whatever it takes to accomplish her mission, no matter what happens to her. She takes great effort to appear as the stereotypical ice queen when doing conventional target elimination, but during observation her personality tends to flip flop as necessary to get closer to her assigned charge. For the most part though she tends to be playful with a sharp wit, like a cat playing with a mouse, acting mysterious and aloof and garnering amusement when people become perplexed by her presence and origins.

Stats: 30 to spend , maximum assignable 10 to each
Precision: 5
Strength: 1
Stealth: 7
Technology: 7
Driving/Piloting: 5
Speed: 5

Let me know if thats cool or not!

Would love to see this rp make it, especially since I helped design it XD
Also Operatives don't get an armor ability, they get two equipment, because Stealth is already a viable option and we can't have it too easy now can we? :P As for a all silenced loadout, thats up for Roguey to decide
