Interest check: StarCraft/Dark Heresy

So I have an idea, and that idea is to steal adapt the Dark Heresy mechanics for a StarCraft setting rather than Warhammer 40,000.
Instead of Inquisitorial acolytes fighting mutants, heretics, xenos, and daemons, you have a UED team fighting....mutants (changed by alien DNA or tech), heretics (rebels, including the Dominion), xenos (zerg and protoss, natch), and daemons (xel'naga qualify, IMO). And possibly upgrading themselves using zerg biology or protoss tech.
Timeframe would be between Queen of Blades and Wings of Liberty.
Or, I can do Dark Heresy with an Ordo Malleus inquisitor.
Ask questions in this thread. If there's enough interest, I'll post another OOC thread for chargen, setting, etc.

I find the Starcraft idea super appealing, mostly because it is one of my favorite games, but also because the world is interesting. We would probably get to choose from the many different infantry terran units, like Marauder, Marine, Ghost, Firebat maybe, Medic maybe, Reaper and Spectre. One thing that I am wondering about is the upgrades and abilities. In the first Starcraft game you spend your credits to upgrade your units abilities to make them stronger. Basically they start off vanilla, but quickly transform into fancy units with powerful abilities. What I am wondering is how that would transfer over into RP Starcraft. Would we have 'missions' that we played in and every time a mission was complete we would get some credits to upgrade out weapons and stuff, or would we already come with some of the abilities and just run the game in an open world type thing?

You'll do missions, get resources and experience, and get equipment and ability upgrades.
Marine, Medic, Ghost (long-range assassin), possibly Spectre (Imperial Psyker). Possibly heavy armor like Marauder, Firebat, or Reaver.
The main thing is to look at the Dark Heresy classes and do something with them that will fit into StarCraft, and I am more than happy to help out with that.

Never played DH, but have vague idea about the system. Love the Starcraft idea, though!

This is a basic info post. As more questions come in, I will add to this post and fill things out.
Setting:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
This takes place after the events of StarCraft, Retribution, and Brood War: the UED has lost their fleet, and needs to find out what happened, so they're sending out a much smaller fleet for recon in stealth rather than recon in force. There is a suitable planet, Cthonia, which has a large transient population as refugees flow in and out. There are rumors of aliens around, but those are just rumors....right?
Characters:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
All characters will be male or female humans, females preferred. Everyone is light infantry of some sort to start with: marine, medic, or specialist. I'd rather not deal with psionics to start with. This may change, later, and if so, anyone who wishes can remake a psionic character (ghost or spectre).
Mechanics:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
We're using Dark Heresy mechanics with StarCraft flavor text, and some liberality of mixing and matching chargen options. As such, you will need access to Dark Heresy info, or, at least use this character generator (
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhroller.html) to get backgrounds and packages. Example: the Sororitas class is allowed for any background, not just the Schola Progenium. Also, I'll assign a set of die rolls to place with your stats.
Advancements:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
As missions are completed, characters can capture equipment or samples and use them or have them researched for various bonuses, or buy advancements with cash. Also, if lucky (or unlucky), you might have xeno DNA implanted into you and change you, hopefully for the better.
Goal:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Official: figure out what is going on in Koprulu, and get info back to the UED. Unofficial: there are lots of randy humans and aliens out there....

Will we be going straight from one mission to the next, or will jobs be available at our leisure?

I am sure there will be downtime between missions for various consequences to start showing up.

How much longer will we have to wait before we can start building characters?
