Roleplay Sub-Forums

While re-posting the recruitment thread, and in response to discussion about number of threads per role-play in General, I'm considering add sub-forums to the Roleplay section to try to make things a bit easier.

The sections I'm thinking of are:

OOC Discussion
Out-of-character discussion; to be clear, this wouldn't be just another General forum, but would contain all out-of-character threads for a role-play, linked to from the main RP thread. This would allow more complex role-plays to have threads set aside for character-sheets, general discussion and so-on. Still nothing too excessive, but it'd help reduce clutter on the main forum which would be for a single active thread per role-play.

Recruitment
Instead of a single topic, a sub-forum would be used for role-play ideas. In this case a games-master can simply post a thread with their idea, and people can reply to it directly with ideas, feedback, or requests to join. This'd probably be a lot easier than the current… well… cluster fuck of a thread :)

You shoud think about making an archieve, just to seperate failed RPs from finished ones.

Why. Dude why not just delete the failed ones. Also why put extra work on the mods. If it failed only the newest of new members will necro it.
At least give us a better out line of how this works than "Make sub section."

The OOC subforum should also include recruitment forums.

I don't like the archive idea because no real use, it wont reduce space or anything. Instead of archive, what we did in other forums is edit all the posts into a book or something, then post it on the internet and delete the IC.

This will help reduce space, however most of our RPs are 18+, so ya, posting them on the internet will difficult. I also would not recommend someone saving them to his/her computer, because if the computer breaks we loose good stories.

~~~
The failed ones should be deleted, but at least make sure they are failed instead of blindly deleting. For example, my New Edan RP failed, no real good story, only two erotica sceens, it failed. However other RPs have good stories that could be salvaged for later RP use or etc.
@Blue Dude, we cant delete them as only mods have rights to delete and i loathe to PM Taria for it meaning i have to keep bothering Thaedael and Renara for it. (Either of them will probably sacrifice me to dark gods for it :))
(I can't believe I'm doing this)
If Taria is too busy I'll go back and move all the OOC/IC threads to their subforums, then ask players/GMs if they don't care if this RP is deleted (If I assume its failed).
I have enough time to do it, it will take a while though because while I can be on all day, its not 24/7, its more like once every five or ten minutes, so it will be a slow (but effective) process.
~~~

That will mean me being a temporary GM, you can trust me not to abuse it, I will only move RP threads and ask GMs if its ok to delete some.

When a mod would be required to move it to the archive so unless you explain your idea in greater detail it right now just sounds useless to even you.

Raven please read his post again. I don't wish to repeat what has already been said.

Look, Suraru's idea(after his edit) sounds cool but there are lots of missing player whom we cant reach. They have their closed RP's, i mean whole 4 page is filled with them.

1. I become a temporary mod.
2. When I can, I organize the RP section by moving IC posts into the IC subforum, and moving OOC posts into the OOC subforum.
3. When I come across a failed RP, question the GM and/or the players if its ok the delete it.
4. ????
5. PROFIT!!!

This organizes the forum so Taria doesn't have too.

Note: I am busy, I do have a job, but I can get online at many points so I can do it, but it will take time.

That is basicly my idea.

@Raven, ya, thats why I said or the players. If I can't reach any of them, I'll just stick it in the IC subforum as a completed RP.

Well if you are going to be making all the other sub-sections Renara, throwing in an archive section wouldn't be too much. However it doesn't change the fact you can't organize it without posting in it after you move it, which once again I could do but then I have to keep bumping groups that continue to move. So unless there is a reordering function, which I don't think there is, it is a bit of extra work but considering the amount of threads it has it could be done relatively fast in a few days.

That being said I still think the RP-section is more effort than it is worth considering the maturity level of the rpers and what they contribute as a whole to the forums, but that is not my call. However with Taria on board now it is going to be more manageable so whatever you do I am behind you as always.

You do have a point here, I was more mature before I start RPing XD

RPing reminds me of playing pretend back in elementary on the playground, just now I'm doing it with (hopefully) more intelligent adults who know how to story write, which makes it very fun.

In other debate forums you will find me more acting my age, not my shoe size, and you can also see this in other members not just me. The RP section is a great place to chill and have fun. It does use a lot of room, and few members actually contribute to the rest of the forum, but getting rid of it will piss people off.

~~~
That said, back ontopic to Raven, ya, but what would have you a mod do?
Personally, I don't see the point in leaving a whole bunch of dinosaur bones laying around. Yes the old RPs were fun and good works, but no one's going to need that material ever again, let's not leave scary giant piles of threads for newcomers to be baffled by. Either way, I'm not really busy and can easily devote my time to moving/deleting threads around once an official plan is decided upon, until then I'm sitting on my hands and making opinions like the rest of you.
Archive second just doesn't make sense to me. Ren already said no to the idea and the only differnce from when raven first told us the idea is that he added 1 line of information.
About the actual topic, I'd see no reason to add any sub-forums while the activity remains this low. Of course, if it goes up at some point, it will be direly needed with a sub-thread; But I'd say it should be dedicated to both recruitment and OOC. Maybe make the threads the same, turning previous recruitment threads into OOC threads.
@ suraru I am just shutting up. I realized that indeed we are taking this too seriously. I mean i dont even contribute to forum and just here because Rooie, Laa, Reaper, Blue, Gorbaz, Hades, Janna, Foxxy.... you know everyone except Taria.
Because Rooie, Reaper and Laa are GMs worth playing with, and their games are usually enjoyable i stay here. Their games are great for chilling and not too complicated. A mistake i do with Ulanor. This forum isnt a serious RP place, rp is a secondary option of this forum, not the primary function. Its something you guys do to chill out when not contributing to other things.
Meaning making RP's with good background, solid rules, and especially putting Sex to a side position would result in a failiure.
So whatever you do guys, i am ok with it.
I disagree since the topic is subforums and that is what raven was trying to get. but moving on.
So what do you mean by "recruitment thread" just to make sure i know what your saying.
Agree on both if they are automatically linked! I like being able to jump between OOC and IC alot because when i do have time, it tends to be alot of time.
another idea im probably going to put in the suggestion forums is to put the posts you posted in in the last few days at the top of the thread list sort of like a sticky. Ill check if it was submited already though
