I agree generally a gm doesn't do rolling unless their is an npc. however everyone wants their character to win. and unless people can physically see you made that roll and didn't just put a number in they are going to at the least find it suspicious. and nor will they ever believe you rolled two or even 3 20s in a row which is as easy as roll 3 1s in a row. people just won't believe it because it's that unlikely regardless of how possible that is, on that account anyone who genuinely rolls three 1s is always going to be able to get away with it by picking a different number or reroll the dice. the gms on here do the rolling to avoid stuff like that generally.
Moving on if we are doing a rolling where severity of rolls and attacks is entirely up to us. we will all need to come up with a system. there isn't an attack order we go through so it can't be i rolled higher so I stop that person's actions. i'm thinking we each get two rolls, one each for defense and attack. Showing that we are all acting not waiting for people to act.
If your defense roll is higher you avoid damage by whatever means. if your attack roll is higher than their defense roll this is where my measured severity rolling idea comes in.
5 points or less and you do small cuts scrapes and bruises depending on attack used is how you identfy what type of small attack happened.
6-10 points medium. you're hurt it's not life threatening but a several more of these and you're going down.
11 or more i'm thinking this is you're struggling hard. you're in constant pain(or pleasure in case of lust magic).
That gives us three levels of severity to work up. lets assign them dam points for a table. remember this is just purely for us to have a reference of how to treat combat, if you disagree with this or i'm stepping on hailey's toes ignore it.
weak hit - 1/2 point. (this is you cut your arm on a thorn bush stuff it hurts but you can't killing anyone with these so i don't think they warrant a full point)
medium hit - 2 points (this is you got hit and it's rocked you, you have to spend time recovering from this it's like an uppercut or knee to the crotch. it fucking hurts but it takes a few to actually put someone down for good.)
heavy hit - 6 points this is I've broken your arm and you're two steps away from being dust that's the level i'm thinking about.
I'm thinking at starting level strength we have 18 hp. this stops any instant 100 to 0 from my dam table and the way rolling works, it's very difficult to get a heavy hit because they only need a ten in their defense roll for it to be impossible even if you roll a 20,
That is how i think we approach the rolling. as for who rolls we'll need to decide that before we continue. if everyone trusts eachother fine we do our own rolls. if not we've all got a nominate someone and Hailey doesn't want to do it so either someone in the rp does so or someone gets an outside friend to roll.
Thoughts?
