Weapon:
Ocean's Hallow - Mara dislikes to fight, rarely drawing a weapon, if she can avoid it. Nonetheless she is more than proficent at using her personal longbow to great extend. Since only the bow, but not the arrows, is made of the legendary material, she can't harm a dragon with it from the distance. In close combat, she can use the unbreakable bow to about the same extend as a curved staff. People say, that you could hear the sound of waves withdrawing from the coast, once she pulls the string back, with the force of rushing waves hitting the target upon the impact.
Magic: Water
History: Mara was practically born into the order... well at least that's how the stories of the recruits put it. Originally she was born to two parents of the rare elven families making their home in the harsh north. Far away from their forests and rivers, these elves adapted to the glaciers around them long before the humans came. They created whole palaces out of nothing but perpetual ice with strong magic, using their excellent senses to hunt the beasts of the frozen wastes. Yet, like so many other archievments, most of it was lost, as the humans came... But that time was long gone, instead Mara lived in a small village not far from the borders of Central Autum, where the land was still cold, but endureable. Upon one faithful morning, as her father was gone to join a hunt in the icy tundra and her mother tending the house, little Mara walked over to the river that ran along just outside of their house. She just wished to play around, maybe meet some friends later, but like so many good stories, this one came with a surprise. As she came closer to the river, she could see that it was a jewel of the color of the glaciers. Of course, she didn't know what it was, but she knew, that she had to keep it. She hid her treasure beneath her bed and days passed, while she kept her secret. One faithful night, on a full moon, she could her something slowly breaking apart beneath her bed. Afraid of what it was, she rose from her sheets and looked beneath it. There she could see the reptile head breaking out of her treasure.
Not to mention how surprised she was... but all fear was gone. She hugged the small creature, carring for it secretly the next days. She sneaked away some of her own food, sometimes that of the few animals her family possesed. But with every day passing, it grew harder to hide the dragon, as Azarea grew in size herself. Only a few weeks later, Mara's parents discovered the tracks and this time, they were undeniable. Afraid of what the dragoness with the silvery scales would do around the area, once she was grown, they wanted to hand her over to the order. Mara didn't want this, she didn't want to seperate herself from her new friend, never and for no reason in the world. After a dispute, that her parents lost to their four years old daughter, Mara returned to her room to tell her new friend the good news. Both lived happily for the next seven months, Azarea growing rapidly with every passing day. Sooner than they though, Mara's parents had to change their mind, as a group of Riders of the Order came to pass through the village.
They convinced them, that Mara and Azarea would be better edjucated in their new life. With their heart breaking, Mara's parents let the Riders take the dragon and their daughter move with them. Indeed it was the best thing they could do. Mara developed nicely within the order, even as there were so few children of her age and responsibility. Quickly she came to see the order as her new family. A friendly Rider, whos name was Selra, replaced her parents in teaching her everything important in life. Well, at least whenever the Archrider of the Order had enough spare time for that. With guidance from the elders and the example of her fellow Riders and their dragons, both Mara and Azarea quickly rose through the ranks as well, becoming famous for being the youngest fully fledged Dragon Rider known. Her kindness and sense of right and wrong made her quite popular not only amongst the Riders, but also the common people as well, seeing her as some sort of idol.
As Selra passed away, Mara hid herself in her room for weeks only talking to Azarea or when she was forced to. Few knew how closely she was really attached to the former Archrider. As she finally emerged from her sadness, she found the Order in a state of change. With Nelren having taken over the leadership. At first she was hesistant to follow, she knew Nelren and was sure he was a good leader, but still... He had replaced her beloved Selra far to quickly for her liking. Mara was far from fully accepting with the scale, the Order now mingled in the politics. She was sure that they already had enough influence and to overthrow Borna was just a unnessecary step in the wrong direction. She saw other Riders, her former brothers and sisters, breaking from the order to forge a life of their own. She was tempted to do so, but was optimistic, that she could convince Nelren and the others to return to the former path. They were Dragon Riders after all, champions chosen by the noblest creatures in existance to defend the world from any threat, why should they wish stray from that path?
Name: Azarea
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Rider: Mara
Appearance:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Strengths: Being a silver dragon, Azarea is naturally adapted at resisting the cold, even using it to her own advantage, as the fogs and clouds never impare her vision. Naturally talented at controlling the temperature, she can lessen the heat generated by her breath of icy-white fire down to the heat of single human's body temperature. Her agility and speed has yet to find its match amongst the younger dragons.
Weaknesses: Azarea is a being of condratictions. While she, like all dragons, is a being of fire and the sky, her linage is of different sort. Wearing the cold as a secondary power involuntary lessens her inner fire and as such, her ability to breath it and resist attacks made out of pure fire. At the same time she has to fight the remainder of the predator that lurks within her, in its eternal battle against her sense of morality and rightness.
(Hope that this is alright! Mh... I might at more detail to the background later, but I really should get to bed!)
