1. map
The middle of the map has an endless ongoing battle, with high-class demons and angels going against each other led by the generals of each faction. There used to be keeps there as well, but in time both of them have been bested. For low-levels, this area is best to be avoided. Hell, even high-levels should think twice then to come here!
The whole area is filled with rubble, ruins and craters; not much unlike the first world war.
The second ring of the map is a little less fought over, but is of amazing strategic value. The keeps on these lanes have just enough range allow artillery barrages to rain down onto the middle lane.
The bridges leading towards the middle lane have all been heavily fortified and heavily stationed by both sides, the angels from the first ring and by the demons on the second ring. The ruins are equipped like fortresses, and taking these key positions is nearly impossible.
The third is again less fought after by both sides, compared to the second. This ring is used mostly as an indirect way to transport armies, for the bridges between the lanes can be used for great ambushes to the second lane. The third lane is riddled with broken siege works and trebuchets, making sneaking highly effective.
The fourth lane is definitely the less sought-after lane. This because the lane is too far away from either base to be used as a quick way for an assault, and too far from the middle for any successful ambushes. Generals have tried to use these outer rings to their advantages, but often perished in the ordeal. There are keeps stationed here, but these are seriously understaffed. The major sites of battle are the ruins stationed near the bridges of the rings, and the halls leading towards the third ring.
~addition
The bridges between lanes are heavily fortified by both races, so crossing a bridge without at least an army to back you up is nearly impossible. The only way to cross one these days is to sneak past, which has grown almost impossible due to the sheer numbers of guards present at all fortifications. Only a soul sneaky or agile enough will be able to make it past the fortified ruins on either side of the bridges.
