BackstorySpoiler (click to show/hide):
Years ago, corruption began sprouting in the west of Arae, though it was so insignificant, the stories that reached the Inquisition were nothing but speculation and would-be campfire stories. They mostly brushed it off, but not known for taking chances, a scout was sent to the West to investigate. Weeks passed, and no word returned. The stories of the corruption grew more abstract and terrifying as time passed, and the Inquisition finally mounted a crusade. When an army of holy warriors marched to the west of Arae, what they found horrified even them. Women lay on the ground, drooling ivory seed out of every orifice, some even still being pumped by stray imps seeking to get one last good fuck. The charge was led, venturing into corrupt territory and slaughtering demons with the wrath of God Himself.
This continued on for a full year, until they reached the heart of the darkness. The army had been defeated. Yet there was one heroine who managed to lead the small party that remained time and time again to victory, and everyone trusted her more than they trusted themselves. Once in the epicenter, the very source of the corruption that has defiled so much of their land, they entered a sanctuary that was previously a holy church, yet it had been severely tainted. The small party gazed upon a dark, ornate throne. Sat on it was an inky-black figure, a man. Though this was no mere man. As he stood, he roars out a rumbling laugh, shaking the troops' very bones. He snaps his fingers, and the church is enveloped in complete darkness. Dark laughter echoes along the walls of the once-holy structure, and the partymembers are quickly plucked from the Heroine's company. When the darkness cleared and she opened her eyes, her former comrades lay around her on all fours, stripped naked and being raped openly by demons of such terrifying proportions, it made her shudder to even look. She unsteadily pointed her sword and raised her shield, yet everything about the inky-black man walking towards her was putting her to rest. Her gear was feeling so heavy, and her slit was becoming increasingly moist...She could feel her nipples hardening beneath her plate armor, and the air she was breathing in smelled so good. She could not resist the corrupted aura emanating from the man, and she was utterly at his mercy. Rape quickly turned into orgasmic bliss, and she surrendered herself fully. The corrupted man would be known to all as the Dark One, for he had defeated the Inquisition, and his next target was the entire land of Arae.
This entire concept is a Crusade to a battle royale, which will be known as the Ultima Bellum. Up to 10 people will be sent on a quest to venture to the Ultima Bellum, and then slay one another until only one remains. The last one standing will be crowned the Champion of Arae, and they will lead humanity's last-ditch effort to battle the Dark One and rid the land of the corruption that has taken over a hopelessly large portion of it. The journey will be long and arduous, and filled with encounters with corrupted (Or non-corrupted) creatures/people that will assist, hamper, or attack you. Keep in mind that the very land itself can be turned against you in some areas, and venturing for too long into soiled territory may very well prove your downfall.
Keep in note that this will be my first time GM'ing and this roleplay isn't nearly as beefed up as some others out there are, but I will try my best regardless and I hope you'll give me the chance.
This experience will be hardcore in the sense that there will be no lying about D20 roles as is prevalent in some other roleplays, and I will roll things that might seem enigmatic. For example, starting a fire successfully, climbing, being convincing, sprinting away in a fight or attempting a combat maneuver, and
then rolling for damage, etc. This will
not be a roleplay where if something bad happens to someone, they can say "Oh wait, but I have this thing that no one knew about all along, so that doesn't happen to me!" Bad shit happens, deal with it.
All types of characters are welcome, be it an 8' giant, a 4' goblin, or anything in between. However, don't get too carried away and make yourself ridiculously overpowered, because you will be quickly shot down. The aim of this is to create a fair and interesting concept for everyone, while letting them play out a character that could be considered "Too-tough" or "Out-of-place" for other roleplays.
The use of magic:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Magic is allowed, and if your character is a preferred spellcaster, they will start off with three spells at 1 intelligence. The lower your intelligence, the less likely you'll succeed in spellcasting. If you are a mage, every 4 points gives you access to remember/learn two more spells. Using magic however, costs mana that is replenished through rest, special foods, especially high nutrition intakes, or is given in certain special situations. In this sense, there are no cooldowns on spells, nor do you require special robes or clothes to use them (Although there is equipment/clothing that allows you to hone your mana to more efficiently focus it, resulting in less mana consumption.), but overusing them can exhaust you very quickly and will more than likely kill you if you are not careful. Depending on the power of the spell, it will drain more mana and in turn, drain you. Your mana pool is based on your intelligence. Magic will require you to speak the rites of a spell out loud if you are a beginner, but if you are a confident/proficient enough spellcaster, you may simply think of the words and your will shall become reality. Keep in mind however, that this is dangerous, because your mind could easily wander to something else during the rite, and you could botch the spell and potentially kill yourself or target someone/something else that you didn't intend to harm. Wanting to set a campfire alight with magic without speaking the words, only to have your thoughts straying to how strong your arms are getting, could quickly lead to lighting yourself on fire and seriously injuring yourself. Do this with extreme caution.
For any of you who are still interested, the character sheet can be found here. I won't bother saying which traits or debuffs are allowed or disallowed, that's up to the player to decide. But making a character that's extremely overpowered in this sense will not be accepted, please be rational. Female characters are strongly preferred, though males are still allowed. If you are confused or want more info on anything in the character sheet, view the OOC character sheet spoiler.

OOC info on core stats:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Keep in mind that you have 30 points to allocate into your core stats. Core stats typically won't go over 20 unless stated by yours truly. Every third point in a stat costs two stat points. If your strength is topping at 3, you'll have to spend two stat points to get that 3, and so and and so on.
The character's age typically shouldn't be over 30 years old, and shouldn't be younger than 18.
For equipment, this is what the starting player will begin with. Don't bother picking something like full plate armor, holy swords, unbreakable shields etc. because you will be finding equipment in the Crusade, and depending on what you've acquired by Ultima Bellum, equipment will be provided for you. You should not have anything advanced, only pick very basic things, like rusty swords, a weakened wand/staff, patchy leather armor, etc.
Spells are optional, but not everyone has the ability to use them. If you are a mage-focused character that is quite obviously dependent on using magic, you will be guaranteed a spell-user. Anyone else that is not dependent on magic however, if you so request, you may be sent a roll on whether or not you can use magic. Anything under 16 will result in you not being able to use it. In tandem with this, you only start off with one spell, and may only gain another spell every five points of intelligence, as opposed to starting off with three spells and gaining two more every four points of intelligence, as you would if you were a mage.
Strength: Self-explanatory. Helps with lifting, damage with most weapons, increasing your carrying weight, etc.
Dexterity: Is a requirement to wield certain weapons or perform more acrobatic maneuvers. Dexterity will also count for your reflexes and so on. Depending on the situation at hand, dexterity can increase your damage with certain weapons.
Constitution: Every point in constitution will give you one health, every third point gives you two. This skill will also be considered if the player contracts diseases/life threatening injuries. You start with 20 health at 1 constitution.
Intelligence: Your ability to craft things, your proficiency with magic, understand complex engineering, lockpicking, identifying enemies and remembering things, etc.
Charisma: Your ability to interact with other people, be convincing at persuading others, along with a lust-attack boost to rolls based on your total charisma points.
Perception: Your ability to sense danger, perceive things around you, appraise items to see exactly what they're for, and sizing up enemies/people to see if they could be a threat to you.
Luck: It's a strange thing, this one.
Corruption: You may start at 0-10 corruption, this is of course up to you and is a part of who your character is. The higher you are corrupt, the more your mind will cloud and you will be more easily subject to the dangers of Arae.
The player may also choose to be a part of a faction, or create their own. Depending on their faction, they get a very minor boost. (Do not abuse this if you are creating your own.)
Faction list:
Ju'rela Corp (1-2 damage increase with heavy weapons)
Defender I'hos (1-2 damage reduction in some instances, based on a roll)
Falling Stars (+2 to sneak rolls)
Venombrawlers (+2 health)
Steelsong (Some resistance to lust/corruption)
Voruk Raiders (1-2 damage increase with light weapons)
Kuria Backwater (You start with a silver dagger that has slight bonuses against certain enemies. If your corruption travels above 20, attempting to wield the dagger will burn you.)
Hunger, thirst, and basic survival needs will be prevalent in the Crusade. You will likely have to fight and scavenge as much as you can, and be very careful what you eat or drink. Although everyone is aware of the Ultima Bellum, fighting amongst yourselves in the Crusade itself is not suggested. You will likely need all the help you can get if you actually wish to make it to the end. The Crusade is one journey, Ultima Bellum is another entirely. Do not link the two together, you will survive longer that way.
Engaging in a wide assortment of activities will give you corruption. Removal of corruption is not especially a cake-walk, and you may have to pay a price in some instances to tone it down. If your corruption travels above 50, you may no longer participate in the Ultima Bellum, for you have strayed from the path. You may however, seek ways to tone it down below 50, at which point you will once more be allowed entry. If you have no interest or simply cannot get your corruption below 50, you may travel around to any other player who has not yet reached Ultima Bellum and fight/corrupt them so that they too, will become a servant of the Dark One. The roleplay will end if at any point, no one is eligable to enter Ultima Bellum.
Upon entering Ultima Bellum, the battle will not begin immediately. Each participant will be given an allotted time to rest and recuperate while they wait for any others who have still yet to reach Ultima Bellum. There will not be a waiting period for other individuals who are too corrupted to join, the Inquisition knows the status of each and every individual participating. If the last eligible player is dying in a ditch while there are three other contestants in Ultima Bellum and everyone else is either dead or too corrupted, they will have to wait until that one person dies, becomes too corrupted, or manages to make it to Ultima Bellum. This is done so that everyone may get a fair chance at being the Champion of Arae. Keep in mind that refusing to fight in Ultima Bellum will not be tolerated, and you will be quickly shot down. Your mission is to become the Champion of Arae and defeat the Dark One, thus bringing peace to this rapidly-deteriorating world. That is not to say that you cannot make friends, they just are not to get in your way of becoming the Champion.
Teams in Ultima Bellum are allowed. Virtually anything goes, with the golden rule being that only one person may emerge victorious, and every other contestant must be dead. However, if you do anything to sully or otherwise usurp the Inquisition in Ultima Bellum, for example, attempting to spark a revolution, you will be shot down. The people need a champion, not a ringleader. As was said, there are virtually no rules in Ultima Bellum, so you are encouraged to be creative should you make it this far.
To conclude, this roleplay will be hardcore, in the sense that no lying in D20 roles will happen, basic survival needs are required, difficult decisions will arise, and dying means that you are more than likely out of the roleplay, so
cling to life as best you can. Even if you are rolled a Nat20 in a hopeless situation such as you're completely surrounded by massive demons, you won't get very far. Bad things
will happen, you will have to accept this.
