Welcome gladiator, to the Cock-iseum!

By orders of the emperor, you have been chosen to fight in the Cock-iseum for the entertainment of capital citizens and the emperor himself. We can only imagine how excited you are! If you are not excited or wish to decline this invitation, please mention your complaints to the guard posted outside of your cell. He will not release you, but your complaint will be noted and filed away.

As you know, after our recent victory over the neighboring empire Uralt, our people have grown bored and restless. Always eager to appease the public, our emperor Theros invented the Cock-iseum, sating the public's need for both mindless violence and graphic sex. Two competitors enter the arena, they fight for the amusement of others, and the winner gets to rape the loser. Everyone's happy!

The rules to the Cock-iseum are simple: Once a week, you will be thrown into the arena to fight either another competitor, fight in a 4-man free-for-all, or fight an exotic beast we've shipped in specifically to fight. Win your fight, and you'll gain a point: first person to 25 points is the victor of the Cock-isuem, and will be let go while everyone else is executed. If you lose, however, you'll lose 2 points. Don't worry though, everyone starts with 10 points. Sounds like a high cliff to climb, but don't worry! Your pointless struggle against the system while fighting for your life just makes for better entertainment!

After every fight, you'll be free to roam around the Commons, a sectioned off part of the Cock-isuem made special for the gladiators. The Commons is where you'll eat, sleep, train and relax between fights. No weapons are allowed in the Commons, and any violence is punishable by death! So play nice with your fellow gladiators while on break, or else!

We wish you the best of luck in the Cock-isuem, and hope you do well. If you don't, we at least hope you put up a good fight. Nobody likes a sore loser, and in the Cock-isuem losing makes you a different kind of sore!

Mechanics

In the Cock-isuem, there are three ways you can defeat your opponent: Either beating them into a pulp and lowering their hitpoints to 0, using magical spells to lower their hitpoints to 0, or getting them aroused enough where they are no longer able to fight.

If you chose to physically attack your opponent, your strength stat is first looked at. That number, plus whatever bonus your weapon is giving you, is the amount of damage you will do. I then take a look at your intelligence stat to determine if the attack is a critical or not, which deal 150% damage.

After those calculations have been done, I take a look at your target's agility stat, which determines their chance to dodge the attack. If the attack goes through, their hitpoints gets lower and lower until it reaches 0, which means they have lost the fight.

To increase you possible physical damage, you should increase your strength stat by training in the Commons.

If you chose to magically attack your opponent, your intelligence stat is looked at first. That number, plus whatever bonus your chosen spell is giving you, is the amount of damage you will do. Spells cannot deal critical damage.

After those calculations have been done, I take a look at your target's agility stat, which determines their chance to dodge the attack. If the attack goes through, their hitpoints gets lower and lower until it reaches 0, which means they have lost the fight.

To increase your possible magical damage, you should increase you intelligence stat by reading in the Commons.

If you chose to sexually tease your opponent, I take a look at your seduction stat. Unlike hitpoints, seduction goes off of percentages, with 0 being not aroused and 100% being too aroused to continue fighting. As this number gets closer to 100, you are less likely to dodge or land attacks. Your resistance to these sexual attacks is your willpower stat.

You CANNOT increase you seduction stat, but the more times you have sex with the same opponents increase the effectiveness of each sexual attack.


I haven't fully ran the numbers on everything, so some of this stuff is subject to change. I may change up the character sheets a bit, and add a couple traits or so.

Backgrund: Akoth had been living a poor but peaceful life out on the outskirts of the empire. Helping to grow the crops and tend to the livestock of his adopted family. He was found by a farmer and his wife when he was just three years of age. Working on the farm was tough for the child as he was put to work at the age of six but years of that lifestyle had him grow accustomed to the early mornings and long hours. It was very unfortunate for Akoth that one day as the guards were patrolling and inspecting his town that he had tripped on someone's unattended bags and came crashing down on one of the guards. The guard didn't take too kindly to that and it didn't take long before he was detained and thrown into the Cock-iseum, he had no qualms with dying in this place but he was intent on getting out and going home.

I'm interested though I do have a question. Aside from how stat distribution works how will enemy selection work? Will you just select opponents for us or will there be a bill board with opponents to select.

Background: Elisandra was the daughter of a minor noble family of the Uralt Empire. When her home fell her and her father managed to escape safely, hearing of how the Empire treated the nobles they hoped to hide their identity and start anew within the Empire itself where no one would expect them to hide. They had hoped to cross the border undisturbed disguised as a pair of commoners but Ellie had made a mistake that cost them their freedom. Elisandra had held on to a keepsake from her home, a small magical bauble that shined with many beautiful colors, the object was found in her possession and they were detained under the suspicion that it was stolen. It wasn't long before their identities were found and they were both in chains. Guilty about getting her father caught she was all too willing to take her only chance when she was offered a way to earn not only her but her fathers freedom if she could only win a certain competition.

I hope you don't mind me giving my character two peoples' freedom if they win but I thought the additional motivation would be interesting.

Background: Megaira used to be a bit of a name in her little community as someone who would visit eligible men and give them some comfort when their wives, loved ones or any significant other is away. Thing is, she loved to mess around with them, spending days and night making them eating out of her hands and other places, while once the job is done she returns home with a large sum of money jingling at the side of her hips. All while doing this when she's a committed woman herself, having grown sick with the lack of passion they had when they got married and want to seek some thrill in teaching some young bachelors and suitors how to properly love the woman they enjoy being with. Eventually she got caught in the act, exposed wide open and is arrested right on the spot with no clothes on, along with escaping death from her angry husband brandishing a knife and, literally, stabbing her in the back. Twice. Hearing about this deal, she find this to be a great opportunity, being able to have sex with anyone while being watched by a large crowd cheering for her (when they're more rooting for her to die)... sounds like she found her calling!

BIO:
Æsa had been tracker and hunter, making a living with her family on the borders between Uralt and Empire. Her father had always taught and preached isolationism, other peoples' problems were other peoples' problems and not theirs, they held no real allegiance to Uralt. When the Empire's armies stormed across the borders, they stood back and hid as armies clashed and men were slaughtered. When Uralt fell, her father kept on trapping and selling his wares as if nothing had happened, though she noticed a sadness creep into him.

On the day they came upon a group of commoners fleeing the violence, Æsa's father surprised her by agreeing to lead them to the border. Her father seemed to become a new man, his chest filled with pride and he ordered to her to guard the daughter of the family they escorted, and Æsa was happy with this change. Alas, it was not to last, as the treachery of the supposed commoners was revealed at the border. As the guards tried to arrest the disguised nobles her father flew into a fit of rage, attempting to free them, but was quickly brought low.

As her father was stripped of his shirt and flogged to death, she saw the terrible scars that already had wracked his body, service from previous wars. Clapped in irons along with the deceiving nobles, she was sold at market to a man known more for his lechery then his gentleness. After several weeks it became clear to the man he would not turn a profit by whoring her to his friends due to her violent nature he entered her into the Cock-isuem to make his profit that way.

Definitely waiting for the stat issue to be clarified before I make a character sheet in earnest. I would also like to know how you plan on handling spells. Do we start off with any spells, and how will they be balanced compared to weapons? Will there be casting limits (MP, spells per day, cooldowns)? The premise seems solid, but I would like more details before I throw my hat into the ring.

Bio:Morito has been born and rised on a somewhat isolated village on the mountains,without many kids of his age to play around and more then enough free time to spend, he decided to start learning martial arts out of pure curiousness and since his father knew a few moves he started training at a pretty young age.The years passed and Morito grew up to become the kind of man that everyone relies on at his village,his father had stopped teaching how to fight a long time ago but Morito kept doing his training on his own and got pretty good at fighting.
One day he decided to go down the mountain towards the nearest city after some resources the village needed ,maybe even buy something for the kids at his hometown to play with but thanks to his unbelievable bad luck he ended up being captured by guards after getting into a street fight with a poor guy that tried to steal his pocket of money.After staying in jail for a while he got transfered to the Cock-isuem due to his good fighting skills,he still doesn't knows very well what's the meaning of all that but will surelly find out......eventually.

So, I've been wracking my brain for days now, trying to figure out the magic component of combat... And I'm kinda stuck. So I'd like to hear what you guys, the future players, think should be done about it. Here's the couple ideas I had, and the problems with them:

I've used this idea before, so I thought it'd make sense here. Magic is unique to each character. Each person gives a list of spells they'd want, the spells are tweaked so they aren't completely overpowered, and are given sufficient weaknesses. Everyone gets unique spells that fit their characters, and add a lot of variety to the roleplay. The only problem is that there is no way to give traits, stats or bonuses to these abilities. Anyone making a mage and putting points into intelligence can't gain a benefit from it, since their spells might not deal damage or can't really scale off of a stat very well.

The second idea I had was dividing spells into two classes, which the player picked and cannot change: White and black magic. White magic focused on the caster, buffing and augmenting their next attack or increasing their stats. Black magic focused on their opponent, debilitating and damaging them in various ways. Very cut and dry, easy to scale off of stats and bonuses. The problem here, is coming up with a balance between the white and black magic. My first thought was making a white spell that rose defenses by 5%, and then make a black magic spell that decreased defenses by 5%. That might be easy for me as a GM, but I feel that would make every spell seem dull and each side of the magic wouldn't have any flavor, since there would be an equal equivalent of each spell on the other side.

So, I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say. Which system works best? Do you guys have any ideas? Even if it's just a list of white/black magic spells, any feedback would be appreciated. Sorry if this all seems a tad trivial to anyone, I just like to make sure I've got a very sturdy set of mechanics and numbers to rely on when running a roleplay.

I feel like using a sort of 'trait system' for spells would be reliable. So, depending on your intelligence, you can have spells of varying 'trait strengths.'
For example; Low-intelligence mages would have access to the "minor traits" list. They could create spells with perhaps two or three positive traits, but for every trait past one, they must have an equal negative trait. This gives the spell creator good leeway with what their spells can do, even if they just wanted some minor cantrips.

Otherwise, I think the first idea is good. Just give us some guidelines on what would be acceptable in terms of strength and balancing, and it'll be fine.

One option could be having intelligence affect what the spell does/ how affective it is. (The analogy I'll use is WHFB reference. Both Orcs and Elves have wizards, but that doesn't mean have the same level of intelligence and their magics do different things.)

You could have different branches of magic unlocked/ get locked off at different intelligences, or have the intelligence affect the spells outcome.

A low intelligence/ thuggish bruiser of Wizard might get a bonus to his attack based spells while the High Intelligence/ intellectual would have a penalty, but gain a bonus on high intelligence spells (healing, manipulations etc)

Well here it goes my idea.i'll try to make things short and easy to read here as well as making it at the same time efficient,the topics will be listed down here so i hope you guys enjoy what you'll read.

First things first,i would like to approach the stats problem.Since we don't have any form to measure the stats i'll be using my own measurement system here which will be the stats going from 0 - 250.So i think that every character must start with a determinated number of stat points which must be distributed bettwen all the stats,something like 100 stat points will be nice to start with, so here's an example for a char focused on Endurace and Strenght.

Strength: 25
Endurance: 27
Agility: 13
Intelligence:9
Willpower: 16
Seduction: 10

Total:100

Even thought the character has been given 100 points if he distributes them like this he'll still have a long way to go until he reaches the Max of 250 points for each stat and he has alot of weak points such as the lack of Inteligence,Agility and Seduction also a pretty low Willpower.But ofcourse he can train and increase his stats but even so it will still take him some time until he becomes a strong gladiator and i'll explain why in the next Topic.

TRAINING

Now for the training,since it's not clear how many times a Character will be able to train i decided to create a sistem where the character will have 3 daily sessions of training.he'll be allowed to train anything he wants for three times each day but there'll be penalties for those who repeat the same training.There'll be also the bonuses from the "Quick Learner" Trait so don't worry.Here's my ide of what it should be like.

Character one
1 session- Strenght Training: +2
2 session- Endurace Training: +2
3 session- Willpower training: +2

Total: Endurace +2,Strenght +2, Willpower +2

Character two
1 session- Strenght Training: +2
2 session- Strenght Training: +1
3 session- Agility Training:+2

Total:Agility +2,Strenght +3

Character with "Quick Learner" Trait
1 session- Seduction Training: +3
2 session- Seduction Training: +2 <- Penalty -1 + Trait +1 = 0 points change
3 session- Inteligence Training: +2

Total: Seduction +5,Intelligence +2

Now for those who are asking why does the last session of training of the "Quick Learner" has no Bonus on it,it would simply be overpowered if he had a bonus on all of the training sessions so i turned the Trait's power down a little by making it take effect only on the 2 first training sessions.I made de values of the training session low so the player can take his time becoming stronger and not instantly becoming a badass killing machine right from the start,becoming stronger will take you some time but i'm sure it'll be worthy the price.

Now here's another problem i had,There's no determined battle sistem here so i'll be doing mine based that it will work with turns for each player.Now for the get go,Each player should have a limit of actions he must and can do per turn,i'll go with 3 because it sounds nice to me.If you still didn't get the idea,it would simply work by the Character being able to do three things bettwen Attack,Defence,Movement and Skill before his/hers turn end.Here's a small example with a serious lack of description but pretty easy to get,

Player 1:
He/She advances towards the enemy(First action),Uses a Physical Attack Skill(Second action) and Retreats(Third action and End Of Turn)

Player 2:
He/She Braces himself and waits for "Player 1" to come closer (First action),He/she tries a retaliation attack at "Player 1" but misses(Second action) and uses a Mental long-ranged skill at "Player 1" that retreated (Third action and End of Turn.)

By doing that we can speed up the combat sistem as well as keeping it organized,it also forces pro-activity by making the player forced to do at last three things before finishing his turn.There's still some work to do on this system,like how to calculate the chances of a sucessful hit and the damage dealt or received by an attack,but i'm pretty sure it's a good one that deserves some special attention.


I do still have to list the so important SKILLS section but i decided to do it later,first i wanna see if you guys liked the ideas i had for these three sections of the RP.If everything goes well i'll post the SKILLS idea i have and answer any questions you guys might have,thanks for taking your time reading this and see you next time, PEACE! :D

I like the White/Black magic idea. maybe each level someone can pick between learning a debuff or a lingering damage or a straight forward attack for black magics and for white magic buffs, stuns, and such and such. Spells could be unique even though they fall into certain categories with some needing specific things to happen before they can be used or maybe target specific facets of the fight. Just spit-ballin
