if by scripting you mean clicking a button, then yes.

Because a decision hasn't been made yet.

A suggestion from someone who has been around forum roleplaying a long time.

Divide the Roleplaying section into three sub-sections: OOC, Bio/Approval, and IC.

OOC would be where the general threads for each RP would go. In them, people would discuss problems they have with IC posts, seek advice from moderators and GMs, and plan out scripted dialogues with other RPers.

Bio/Approval is for character sheets. It's mostly for archiving and storing the information, but should always be seperated from the OOC stuff to avoid congestion.

And IC is self explanatory.

I've done roleplaying on many forums for many years, and this three-partition system is the best for a dedicated section like what is here on LoK.

I would love to see both, though I mostly just scroll through from time to time...

I have had the urge myself to simply post my ideas of a setting, but I felt that would be unwise and taken down because of such.
While I am practicing my sword(pen) arm, I tend to take time to create scenarios for even the scrap characters I draw, so I honestly would like to put together a basic background for a story and see what the community could do with it.

So you sound like a fairly intelligent person so i don't think anyone would take down a RP you made.
When you got a RP your happy with just post it.

Ah, quite, thank you, but what I more particularly mean is that I prefer to create the basis for a 'situation' and watch it grow from there.
I can't stand things like 'The Sims' because of it's god-mod-based stylizing, that has no story, no depth, no 'evolution' if you will!
On the same note, however, creating a base set of rules for a world and seeing it grow using them as a foundation is much more appealing, I'm terrible at constricting and managing such things. Similar to the phrase, "Give a man a fish, and he'll be full for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll be full for a lifetime!" I find joy not in guiding something or someone, but giving them the means to carve out their own paths.

I hope I did not sound too redundant or repetitive... It's a rather bad habit of mine, if you'll excuse me...

being repetitive is way better than not rereading what you've said.
If i were you this is what i would do.
1 Make a background story the players can explore if they so desired.
2 Make a interesting system for the players to use but keep the text low.
3 profit.

Sorry if i misread something you said but it's like 1 AM here so i'm kinda tired.

Thank you again, BlueLight, I had not thought of that.

Perhaps I should set up a 'Role Play Adoption' thread? Or perhaps posting them as they are thought of would yield better, I suppose.

Rest, then! I'd like not to be the one post that deterred you from sleep, friend!

Sorry for the delay folks!

As you may already have noticed, I've now added the OOC sub-forum. Existing OOC threads are okay where they are, however, new OOC threads should be created within the OOC forum. You can now have more than one OOC thread if you require it, but please don't go overboard (don't post individual character threads or whatever).

The Recruitment Thread is now in OOC, and will continue to be used for gathering initial interest in an idea, but if an idea is getting attention then it may create a dedicated recruitment thread if required; basically it's up to the GM, though users shouldn't be posting dedicated recruitment threads without first posting in the main recruitment thread and getting some feedback.
