To make a game...

Postby yillsemkcuf » Wed Feb 01, 2012 5:54 am

you need software, to make the game with, obviously.
Unfortunately I happen to be in a situation where I just don't have the cash to fork over and I've used up all my 30-day free trials *shrug* . So my question is
ARE THERE ANY ALTERNATIVES?
I don't mind learning a new system or paying a small amount for the software but the fact is there's no way anyone will believe I'm a student; and my job isn't computer related. To make the search easy-er theirs this little bonus  I don't care what type of game it makes. point and click, flash, ext... Seriously any type will do.I JUST WANT TO MAKE GAMES :!:
Keeping that in mind...
Any suggestions?

The limitation of flashed based games is your limited by: cash, flash, and coding.

Don't get me wrong flash is a powerful tool but it's designed for a business. It's basically microsoft word if they didn't have the home or personal editions.(complete bull shit if you ask me). From my understanding most alternatives are less than par.

Now making a game is not limited to flash. Java (oh yes shame less advertising here.) works on all computer systems that flash does and the great thing about is that it's free.
I can help you and could do with some help. So if you were to learn it i am more than happy to be on skype and help you out.

It's going to take time to learn but that's true about any language and flash uses action script so your going to have to learn coding and art..

Game maker is good for 2d games, and 3d rad is good for 3d games; both are free.
Game maker is good for beginners, and has quite a few functions, but very limited.
3d rad is simple, but takes some time to learn, but it's the only free 3d game maker I know.

This guy had a video on a 3d game. I don't remember when. I think it was 2011. Anyways it's likely easier to find it on his site. Tinkernut.com
