An Idea I Wanted Some Feedback On

Postby Exer » Fri Sep 15, 2017 6:53 pm

It seems like SFM porn is becoming more and more common these days, and I've noticed that while there's a lot of animators that use it and people who make stills using models in SFM, no one really uses it to make CG for games. I've learned to use SFM pretty well (at least for posing), and it wouldn't be too hard to make a game using CG made in SFM. And personally, I have a few ideas I'd like to do, but doing traditional artwork for it would take entirely too long. Especially since I'm already working on another project that uses original artwork. So these ideas likely wont ever see the light of day, unless I'm using something like SFM.

Basically, would anyone want to see a game that uses SFM for the artwork? If not, why not?

I mostly know SFM porn as "SFM Compilations" on PornHub, I don't know what else you could do with it. I like these models better than TechArts3D or Daz3D, but my favorite 3D porn is from MMD (MikuMikuDance). Here's some examples: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php? ... 06ea4a20f5 :: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php? ... d9c0300e4e :: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php? ... d517626198 :: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php? ... 88575e0b50 :: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php? ... 324d2e726a

With various kinds of 3D porn, I think it gets boring when they make a simple looping animation and repeat it for a long time. The MMD animations tend to have much better showmanship, stuff like camera movements, transitions, narrative, etc. I'm assuming it's still possible to do that in SFM, so whatever you end up with, just keep in mind that the rules of cinematography and animation are still relevant in the world of porn.

You should also consider getting Blender3D. This is a free opensource professional level 3D program. Great for when you need to get in there and edit or create something yourself.

That's not quite what I meant when I said using SFM to make games. I wouldn't be doing animated scenes, I'd be doing high quality renders of static images, in leiu of 2D artwork for a more traditional Visual Novel/SLG style of game. The appeal of SFM specifically, is the huge number of models available. Especially of existing characters, as a large number of the models are either ripped directly from a game, or ripped from a game, then modded from there. It's also fairly regularly updated, and it's a program I already know my way around.

I've dabbled in Blender, and if I wanted to just make my own original models, I'd definitely use that, but it's a lot more work, and would kind of defeat the purpose of using something like SFM in the first place. At least for me. Since I'd spend the same amount of time making models and maps, as well as posing, that I would just creating 2D artwork.
