Composition for your Game, and my Soundtracks.

Okay, so as you know I'm making Resident Evil: Progeny and doing the compositions for it and also doing the compositions for Area 52's LoK, but do YOU want some compositions in your game?

If so, please reply with following:

Details of your game:

Name
Type (I'll probably know if it's up on the forums)
Does your Game creation software accept files other than MIDI?

Details of the composition you want:

Genre (I specialise in Horror and Westerns)
Length of Track
Looping (Y/N)
Instruments (Don't worry if you don't know any)
Specifics (E.g. "This will be for a scene where the character is walking around town, I want it to have a jungle feel to it")

Now, I'm also putting up a poll, and this will decide whether or not I will charge for individual compositions (which I honestly don't want to, but I'm not that rich.) Please answer truthfully.

Look forward to writing your next Video game music!

Oh, and here's a couple of links (one of them is already in the Area 52 thread)

Mama mia. Number of views compared to number of votes is shocking... and number of replies as well.

Looks like I'm going to be relying on setting up a paypal donations account then, because while I'd like to imagine that the world is a fluffy rainbow filled place where I could sleep on tarmac floors and work at the same time for free, unfortunately, life isn't as kind as that.

The Reality

In case you're wondering why I'm starting to wonder about charging, cost, etc. is because I barely have enough money to pay for my living space, let alone my internet. While I'm not expecting you to go "boo hoo a barely started game is going to be disappearing off the web" I'd like you guys to think about the amount of time and effort me and several others have put into my project, and the amount of updates I bring to the game compared to certain other game developers (None of you on the forum, don't worry.) who get lots of donations compared to work and quality of results (anyone who thinks hard enough will know who I'm on about, but it's my opinion, and several others voice that same opinion.)

Now, I probably have enough to stay online, well-fed, and have a roof over my head for a year, but being honest, I'd like to continue being able to develop games after it, providing this first game is the masterpiece I want it to be. As I've put, while I'm not expecting you to cry over a barely started game, I ask you to look at the potential, and the amount of improvements that have been made over this month alone. When I release this game, which WILL be completely free of charge, I planned on releasing high quality versions of the soundtrack available for purchase. Because none of you know how much composition I've done on this game, I've currently composed 29 pieces of music, and am still working almost non-stop composing new ones. But that's pointless if nobody's going to buy a soundtrack, so hell, why do I even bother composing more and more tracks?

I'm not going to lie, there's not much there of the game to look at/fap to yet. To be honest, I couldn't care about fap material. So by now you must be thinking "But Z, what's the point in making a game on a hentai forum?" In that I respond as such. "How many hentai games have you played... that are real games, and not just pointless push buttons to see some CGs, or move your mouse up and down to insert/remove penis from womans vagina?" I'm making it a hentai game because I want to raise the bar that hentai games should have. While I'm not expecting you to play a hentai game and look at reviewing it and nominating it for awards, I think hentai games should be well made, original, and should show that the person making it has spent REAL time making it.

Now, I'm asking EVERYONE who has been on this thread to PLEASE VOTE. I need a realistic and accurate opinion from you, even if you just clicked on this post to get rid of that annoying red circle.

So Z-Fied I personally think im going to add music in my game. If i did what i require are several tracks that make up a song but are interchangeable so i can smoothly move from one type of song to another (going from classical to horror lets say) at nearly anytime or i could just put them in a random number generator. Now if i did then i would pay you because i would likely ask you for more than two song (song as in tracks that sound somewhat the same at the length of 3:00 minutes in this case) and i understand that im asking you to do a lot of work. How ever while i could likely find the money i'm not at that stage and im not sure it would help my game anyways.

You know, I've made music for a few years now, and for my own game as well. Although I agree with most of the things you say- I find this one hard to believe. The point is, for everyone's entertainment. Sometimes you have to realize you won't always have someone who'll want to buy your stuff. Also, why would someone buy it if they could easily download it or record it right from the game? There are MANY ways to do this. Me personally...I'd rather own a physical copy of what I like... there's just a sense of deserving when you actually own it...

Anyways my point is, its not pointless. Will you make a profit? Probably not. But more likely than not your popularity will grow, your name will get out there, and eventually someone WILL end up paying for a nice composition.

Added a new preview of the OST for Resident Evil: Progeny, this time it shows 3 tracks.

@MixMaster

I guess you're right, but that's why I'm making the OST tracks much better, and I'm even extending them... For the purpose that the OST will be much better than if you just ripped them from the game. I'm fully aware that I will probably not get paid for a lot of my compositions, but it'd be nice to know that the tracks are deserving of money.
