if I made a breeding season...

Postby AcetheSuperVillain » Thu Aug 11, 2016 5:33 am

So coming up with Breeding Season clones seems to be in vogue right now. I've got my hands full of brawler and knarf, but I do have an idea.

I'm not a huge high-fantasy fan and the original BS was not anthro enough for my tastes, so I was thinking of making more of a zoo simulator. You breed or purchase anthropomorphic animals and try to build up your zoo park to attract more customers. Rather than going day-by-day, I'd probably set the time as 3 month intervals and use a "realistic" growth rate. Most real animals grow to adulthood in like 2 years, so 8 turns? not that bad. I could also give the animals some kind of "jailbait" form before they reach adulthood, so they can still look sexy and attract visitors to the zoo before you actually start breeding them.

Maybe 8 types is a reasonable goal. I could probably do different "skins" for them, for example Lion/Tiger/Jaguar are all the same model, just different colors. For zoo management purposes, you might get props for having different kinds, even though they have the same look.

Lion/Tiger/Jaguar
Gator/Crocodile/Caiman
Kangaroo/Wallaby
Eagle, Gold/Bald/Harpy/Wedgie
Bear, Polar/Grizzly/Panda
Badger/Wolverine/Skunk
Deer/Ibex/Gazelle/Bongo/Pronghorn
Shark/Dolphin/Orca

There's also wolves/foxes, ostriches/emus, sea lions, penguins, zebras, giraffes and shitloads of smaller animals, but I think the ones above would give me the most mileage. I suppose I don't necessarily have to use real life animals as the basis, I could just make a "lion" and do different things like "snow lion", "rock lion", "plains lion", "jungle lion", "grey lion" etc.

So the game would probably play a little more like Marune's brothel simulator, you have a set amount of acreage for your zoo, you fill it with animal enclosures, like a big-cat pit, bear cave, shark tank, etc. Tourists will pay money to come see your hot naked anthros. Like BS, you get requests from clients or other zoos to breed a specific type of anthro. You might be able to send your anthros on temporary assignments for something like movies or scientific research or private parties. You could improve your park by buying enrichment activities for your anthros, like tire swings and dildos that maybe give you more scenes when people are viewing them in your zoo.

The elephant in the room is that unlike BS, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense anthros to impregnate anthros of different races. I could use some kind of deus ex machina, like a gene splicing machine or a super inseminator that doesn't matter what race they are and leave the sex as eye candy for the tourists instead of work related. Or I could just say, fuck it, animals don't care, let's pretend babies can happen anyways. Or the fun of the game could be to try and acquire breeding pairs. That would actually save a lot of animation time if I don't have to make every combination of anthros fucking. Or animals could make babies with the zookeepers. Ugh, then I'd have to draw humans too.

I'd like to see ur art in some type of breeding season clone. Honestly what you were saying earlier makes sense. Why not just keep couplings within the species? This would prevent having to make separate animations between each individual species (which would take forever). Just make a male and female version and have them breed with each other.

Sounds like a simple fun game. Go for it :)

yeah go ahead and try. but like you said you got 2 other games to do. and a zoo sim? not my taste but others will enjoy i hope. i am not hating i am just being pessimist. if you can do it go ahead. from what i read it sounds like zoo tycoon with hentai and that alone is a lot of work.

you will burn out dude, just focus on your other stuff ok?

Oh yeah, brawlers for life, I'm just posting this in case someone else likes the idea and wants to do it themselves. I could probably contribute some art, but programming a zoo-brothel simulator is the last thing I want to get into right now.

I really shouldn't but i'm gonna see if i could build a basic zoo sim with place holders. If I get anywhere near a functional product, would you be willing to stock it with art, ace? Also i suck at design, you would also need to help me make it more visually appealing (fonts, positioning, color selection, etc).

I'm not great at design either, but I could do some character art. I really don't want to get into 2D animation, but I could do something like a few 2-frame animations or comic book pages, or I could make a base graphic for someone else to armature and animate. Or there's the 3D prerender spritesheets, but I'm not sure my 3D models would be as good as my 2D art.

I'm a decent animator. if you know how to chop your work up into animation-friendly pieces, I can animate directly in flash using classic tweens. I'm also getting experimental with 2d skeletal animation programs like Spine or Dragon Bones. But that can be decided on later. Initially, we would just need static idle character graphics.
