On the story part, you should just go with what you want to do. However, there is something I don't understand : the MC fight for their gods right ? You can't really say that they aim to save the world (unless some chaotic divinity rise and threaten the world).
Also, be careful with the names of your character. A bad cliche of fantasy is to put weird names because it sounds "exotic", but the thing is that weird names only sounds weird. And you also have very modern names like Lisa wich sounds really strange when put together with names like Celduin or Preya.
Names are a part of a person's identity, so it's important to be able to feel their culture and even their personality through a name. You don't have to go for weird names, you can make plenty of exotic sounding names by using pronounciations from already existing languages.
For example, taking old irish sounding names can give that medieval feel while being unusual, then just giving french sounding names to some characters will make them even more exotic and thus the player may think of them as being of a different country than his character and so on.
Sorry for my little rant, but don't forget that kind of things when you start searching for names.
Personally, I'd like to be able to play as Ciera, but that's just my love for paladin girls.
Overall, it seems like you have your world but don't know what to do with it. First, your story don't need to give your characters a huge objective like "saving the world", in Harem the MC only want to repopulate his country, in DL it's about saving the princess and fighting the kingdom's corruption, in Anise it's just living your everyday life as a guild member, same for VH were the only "meaningful" plot is just about saving a friend but it's enough to involve the player in this task.
So yeah, epicness doesn't depend on what is the goal, but how you attain it and how you make the player care about it. One can hardly care about saving a world completely unknown to him.
Im not into yaoi unless it invole a trap, but If the game is good I won't drop it because of scenes with a male character on the receiving end.
