Chapter 1: This is War

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMAVLXk9QWA

Students:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

The teacher had been standing at the board, giving a lecture on Net Battle techniques, explaining BASIC usage of Battle Chips for the third time, drawing a diagram on the board about how to insert them to transfer the chip data to your net Navi. Miss Cyrille, strangely, always opened with the basics before getting to her real lecture, likely to burn more time, since the lecture always seemed to end right when class did, implying that she could never actually come up with a lecture which covered the entire class duration.

"Alright, maggots" she started in a voice which sounded like a growl... which was actually completely normal, since she always sounded so angry "Jack into desks so we can start with some REAL action." she finished, grabbing a PET her desk, which didn't actually have her own Navi in it, she wasn't allowed to use her own Navi for class, it was forbidden by the school. According to some students, it was because her REAL Navi was too violent, but that was just a rumor. Regardless, when the students Jack in, they would be met by Grademan.EXE.

Once the students Jack-In, they would be in the School Network, a grey room with a floor that was made to resemble unsharpened pencils, with a single portal on one end of the room and a single portal on the other end. Miss Cyrille's voice can be heard inside the cyberspace, "Alright, Grademan, explain to the Navis what they'll be facing for their first assignment." she growled. However, before Grademan can say anything, the lights in the school shut off and the cyberspace in the comp goes dark. Then a voice can be heard over the intercomms, in and out of the Cyberspace "There is nothing wrong with your display. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand channels or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond. We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive." said the smooth male voice through the comms, he then continued "You are currently at the mercy of the Net Terrorist group, Break. We are fully aware that the Officials were intending to recruit from here, and we therefor shall eliminate all of you." said the voice, before cutting out. The chalkboard then began the flash brightly on and off, while the lights above fizzled.

Teachers:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Lina Hayes was in the teacher's lounge, her only company being Miss Banks burying her face in a book, and the principal in their office, the next room over. All seemed the usual, absolutely boring, when suddenly the lights went out, and a voice came out over the intercom "There is nothing wrong with your display. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand channels or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond. We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive." said the smooth voice, continuing "You are currently at the mercy of the Net Terrorist group, Break. We are fully aware that the Officials were intending to recruit from here, and we therefor shall eliminate all of you." the doors then swung closed and locked themselves electronically, followed by the lights flickering erratically, while the screens on the walls began shutting on and off rapidly, displaying only a bright white screen each time they flickered on.

On the other side of the room, Miss Banks began to panic, crying out and repeating "Oh my gosh!" over and over, like the timid girl she was.

A stack of papers may sit in front of Lina, but her mind is somewhere completely different. She has enough funds to last her quite a while but she really should think about where her next paycheck will come from so she can begin the process. After all, she really has no way of knowing just how much resistance her next mark will make and taking too long will just put her siblings in danger. Of being uncomfortable, sure, since it'd be years before she truly ran out of money but that's more than she wants for them given how they all started out in life. There are a few students she'd dearly love to toy with before they were shipped out and one student in particular she wants to break before she becomes a copy of her parents, but she still has time to plan this through. She has a brief fancy as she sneaks a peek at Miss Banks nearby. She hasn't tried breaking a teacher before and the woman's beautiful enough that she wouldn't mind simply adding her fellow teacher to her collection rather than selling her.

Her thoughts are cut off by the lights cutting out before she comes to a decision one way or another. She's about to sigh and bitch about not being able to finish before work is over when the voice comes over the intercom and she has to resist a bark of laughter. Her? An Official? Only if they were absolutely either oblivious or corrupt. They'd never put up with her extracurricular activities otherwise. Still, this poses something of a problem since she's included in the number of people these idiots want to eliminate. She can't allow herself to be eliminated. Who would take care of Lala and Lee otherwise? Her friends in the gang? Not for free and she doesn't want them involved in the things she is unless it's their choice. She sighs and wakes her PET up.

"C'mon, U.P., it's time to go to work. Figure out how to get the doors open so we can get the hell outta here." She says as she jacks her navi in. The program has been... annoying, at best. She supposes she can use this as a test of sorts. If the navi can't do something as simple as this, then she's not worth the headache of dealing with. Lina will delete U.P. and look into getting a new one at that point. But that's a later thought. First... well, she and Miss Banks aren't going anywhere for the time being. Might as well see what fun ways she can keep the woman calm. Moving from the jack in point, she wraps her arm around Miss Banks' shoulder.

"Shh, shh, shhh~. It'll be alright, my dear. Someone will have this under control in no time. There's no need to worry."she coos, using her other hand to ever so softly cup Miss Banks' face and allow her to see Lina's (fake) sincerity. "If it pleases you, I can think of a few ways to help you keep calm."

It seemed the operator was in a bit of trouble. Someone wanted to destroy everyone in that school, including her operator. Well, she felt the same way. Ever since her operator found and captured her, U.P. was doing her best to make sure that her operator knew she wasn't one that could be contained easily. She often swung insults and threats at Lina, and did her best to make sure her job was as hard as possible whenever U.P. was involved. Alas, she was under Lina's control, and thus had to do what she says. This was bad though, Lina didn't exactly know what U.P. was, as she never made U.P. fight anything seriously before. U.P. looked at her hand as she was jacked into the network. Well, it wasn't really her hand. It was the hand of the Navi that found themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was deathly pale, and the skin was gaunt. She made a fist then looked around her, sighing. "Are you so incompetent that you can't even open doors anymore operator? What a truly miserable existence." She said, knowing full well what the situation was. Seeing some sort of cyan looking gate on the other side of the room leading to a long hallway. Looked like where she was supposed to go. She walked up to it and tries to find a way to open it. She would love to just bash through the wall like she used to when she was free, but now that this is 'school property' she has to 'be careful with it.' How tedious. Spawning a few tentacles from her shadow, she used them to probe the area for a button or switch of sorts.
I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern.

As Damien sat at his desk, he was only paying half attention to Miss Cyrille's lecture. His mind was in the clouds thinking of new outfits for RikuRiku, his upcoming shift at the hobby shop and of course some art commission he had coming up. He'd rather be in one of Miss Hayes' Economics classes. She had this kinda cool intensity about her that was unbelievably attractive.

The raven haired otaku was knocked out of his day dreaming as Miss Cyrille commanded they jack into their desks. Once they are in the School Network, RikuRiku makes her grand entrance. "Riku-Riku-Rii!" RikuRiku shouts as she does a twirl and bows to the rest of her classmates "Everyone's favourite Net Idol has arrived" She says expecting a round of applause. "This isn't the place for that RikuRiku." Damien told her. RikuRiku merely huffed and took her spot with the rest of the Navis.

Just as Damien and RikuRiku prepare for their first assignment, the voice comes over the Intercomm. Damien and RikuRiku stand there stunned as they listened to Break's declaration. They had heard about stuff like this happening on the news. But they never thought it would happen here at AC/DC.

While Damien was still a bit shaken, RikuRiku seemed to relish the challenge. "Bring it on you vile fiends! You don't know who you're messing with." She yelled to the mysterious voice.

"Neither do we" Damien said in a rather dry retort. But Damien didn't want to wait around and just be eliminated either. "Riku, Do you think you can find out what's going on in the School's network?" He asked as he prepared his battle chips

RikuRiku merely gave her operator a relaxed salute. "Roger Roger!" She said as she proceeded to examine the path to the left of their starting area.

Another day, another boring class... Shobu was half-sleeping through the lecture, and had been doing so since Miss Cyrille started her lesson with her usual reminder of the basics. Many students were always exasperated with this part of the lecture, and that was to be expected. They've heard it time and time again. It's probably been etched into their brain, in fact. Yes, that was normal for normal students, all to be expected.

Shobu's only heard this part of the lecture a handful of times, unlike normal students. This is because she's exceedingly lazy, and becomes easily bored by repeated events, hence her distaste for school. AC/DC was boring. She might not have been smart, but the classes were easy to game so long as you had the tools necessary to make it so. The lessons barely taught her anything useful, and some of the teachers (like Miss Cyrille) were waaaay too strict. It took particular effort to sleep through her class, and even then she couldn't even fully sleep! Shobu had to keep one eye open to mask her half consciousness as her usual dull-eyed attention, but when it was time to Jack-In (heheh, almost like Jack-Off), Shobu snapped to attention.

Finally, the most entertaining part of the lesson was here! She couldn't contain her enthusiasm as she followed her teacher's angry sounding order, quickly moving through the usual process to get into the School Network. The dull gray room they were in almost curbed her enthusiasm, but the young lady didn't let it bother her. She's seen it time and time again, anyway, and it wasn't like she was there for the room's decor. No, she knew why they were there. And as one of the students and their loud Navi over there conversed, she attempted the same with her own.

"Hope you're ready for whatever test this'll be, Phi. Do your best as always." She didn't even look to confirm the presence of her Navi. After spending so much time with her trusted partner, Shobu sort of had a feel for when she was around. "Not that it'll be difficult for you anyways, but -"

The following announcement from this new variable had thrown off Shobu's focus on whatever she was saying, with said focus instead shifting to... whatever the hell was happening. Net Terrorists? ... Did the name 'Break' sound familiar? Shobu felt like she should probably know something about this group, but the contents of their speech almost threw her off guard. Eliminated. Meaning, killed. They were planning on killing... all of them?

"W-well, this just got interesting." Shobu once bet her freedom in a Net Battle before, but never has she bet her life. The thrilling sense of danger bit into her like how she'd bite into a pastry, and the cold grip of fear only made her more excited. "Very, very interesting... as I was saying before, let's do our best today Phi. In this new game, our lives will be on the line!" She said with a wide smile. This promised to be a lot of fun. She was expecting this 'Break' group to hold up well against them, with such audacious claims. Hopefully they'll win.

Ever since they got to school, Philo had given up attempting to get her Operator to pay attention in class. The girl was brilliant, but awfully awfully lazy. That said, it was almost funny how many assessments she had gotten away with paying others to do them for her.
But here she was, jacked in and ready to go!

Arriving in the relatively boring virtual classroom, the energetic Navi began to stretch around. Limbering up and show off was important, even if you were virtual! And, all things considering, a test was likely going to get active here in cyberspace. Even if Grademan.exe a little on the boring side, he at least knew what he was doing and didn't slack like their Operators. Kicking off the ground, Philo began to float, getting comfortable a foot off the ground.

Phi smiled up at her Operator, waving her hand back and forth.
"Pah, I was made ready for whatever that slowpoke can code up. Wont even need to do my best, kinda like you now that I thi-."

The treacherous thought was cut off by the sudden hacking attack. Terrorists? That was... sudden, to say the least. Entirely unexpected even. Today just got interesting!
In a bad way.
"Shobu, I'm going to be entirely honest here. What you just said, with that smile right there? Yeah, that worries me more than the impending death via terrorist. Keep your head down kiddo, lets make it through this."

Philo began to look around. What the strange man on the speaker was saying first caught her off guard. 'We can shape your vision', that. She had a feeling that was going to be important. Cupping her mouth with one hand, she spoke quietly to Shobu.
"Hey kid! Do us a favour from out there, attempt to adjust the screens and see if anything weird shows up. I don't want you leading me into a trap. If they're screwing with the network, beat them at their own game. The prize is getting to see their faces as they realised a kid beat em'."

She then pointed her lance at Grademan, yelling so that he and pretty much every Navi in the room could hear. Any of the weaker willed ones would probably be shouting or screaming right now, so may as well shut them up.
"Teach! You were gonna run a test for us, right? If that test had any enemy programs, firewalls or traps, set em' up right now. If we're going to fight seriously I want some backup from you lot in charge."
And saying that, the Navi took off towards the hall, waving as she went.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Lina attempts to calm down Miss Banks, however, she responds by quickly standing up and making some distance between them, still apparently startled "Th-thank you, but I can manage on my own, please just focus on using your Navi to get the doors open..." she said, gesturing towards the PET that's currently plugged into the port at the nearby desk.

UP uses her tentacles to probe the platform she's on for a button or switch to open the gate, however neither is found. Instead, she can see on the front of the gate is a panel asking for a code to open the door. The gate would have to be opened in order to move deeper into the school's network and find whoever is messing with the lights and locks.

Given that the door is right in front of UP, this would mean that back in the other direction would be where all of the students typically Jack their Navis in for class, so between this door and the previous section of the network would be where the code data would be. It would likely be at a dead end so that nothing else could be mistaken for it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

'As a matter of fact" miss Cyrille started, "The viruses would attack the nearest digital lifeform, and the Firewalls were already up. The fact that they've taken control of lights and locks means that they're already in the deepest part of the school network." she said, crossing her arms and leaning against the chalk board.

Nearby, Alyce was haphazardly dumping Chips from her folder onto her desk, and putting others into it, while her Navi, Hardman.EXE gave her instructions on what the "MANLIEST" Chips to put in her folder would be, the Navi itself still in the starting area of the network.

Philo didn't get very far down the pathways before she encountered the Digital Body of a Program, who would have normally greeted her, however, something was off. It was hovering limply, and was missing an ear. It also had electricity radiating across its body. Its ear perked up, and it was soon joined by two more matching Programs, at which point all three began making an electronic buzzing sound and moving closer to Philo.

RikuRiku merely gave her operator a relaxed salute. "Roger Roger!" She said as she proceeded to examine the path to the left of their starting area.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Before Riku started moving down the pathway, Philo said something which made zero sense, and began running down that very pathway ahead of everyone else.

When Riku began traveling down the pathway, some of the other Navis began following her at the command of their Operator, however, as one would expect, Maeleanne, the school's resident stuck-up, preppy, bitch spoke up from the front of the classroom "I don't need to wait for one of you to save me, BoneSaw and I can take care of this Navi on our own. While I kill the perp, YOU peons can erect a statue in my honor.", after which BoneSaw.EXE shoved passed the group of Navis to get ahead of them, remaining completely quiet, as usual. Seriously, nobody in the entire class had heard that Navi say one single solitary word.

Illyanna rolled her eyes and ignored the stuck-up bitch and could be heard speaking to her Navi PrismMan.EXE "PrismMan, are you detecting any Viruses in the area?", to which he replied "The entire network seems to be thoroughly infested with viruses. Considering how abnormal this is, Break must have released them. We must proceed with extreme caution."

At the desk next to Damien, Alyce was haphazardly dumping Chips from her folder onto her desk, and putting others into it, while her Navi, Hardman.EXE gave her instructions on what the "MANLIEST" Chips to put in her folder would be, the Navi itself still in the starting area of the network, the two of them seemingly oblivious of the fact that Maeleanne had just insulted the lot of them.

While this was going on, Scrowman.EXE disappeared into a cloud of black fog, and Zero.EXE was nowhere to be found, and therefor must have left the group sometime sooner. Standard, non-customized Navis all stayed back with Hardman.EXE as he helped his Operator with her messy folder.

Examining the path results in seeing a Blue Mystery Data at the end of another pathway off to the side. Mystery data normally containing items, such as Battle Chips and key items. They're a variant of mystery data which, unlike the Green kind, are only collected one time.

Riku naturally wanted to run ahead after Maeleanne's and BoneSaw.EXE's standoffish attitude. But Damien was keen to keep her out of danger. "Slow down Riku, you heard what Illyanna and PrismMan said. The network is crawling with viruses. Not to mention the culprit is still out their" He said as he prepared his battle chips. Looking to his side, he saw Alyce doing the same with less success.

Slowing her pace, Riku seemed visibly annoyed. "Come on Damien! We can't let that stuck up princess get all the attention." She said as she drifted off the main path to collect the Blue Mystery Data. In the meanwhile, Damien turned to Illyanna, Maeleanne and Shobu. "This isn't the time to be going off on our own. If we're going to take on these Break agents, we have to take them on together"

Hearing this Riku internally scoffed as she returned to the main path "I don't need any backup dancers. This is a one Navi show" She thought to her self.

"Yeah no, not having any of that."
She cased a quick glance behind her, to see if any other Navis had actually followed her. If so, then she was going to show off a little. Spinning her weapon around, the Navi pointed it at the clearly infested programs and used her first ability; StormLance.EXE. She was trying to aim it so that it pierced through all three, but beggars aren't choosers and she was going to settle with one if that was all.

"Jeez, sending our own small fry against us. These bad guys are a cruel lot."
She paused slightly, thinking about what she just said.
"Wait, never mind. They want to kill school children, why am I worried about a couple'a infected programs? Whatever, do me a favour and be deleted!"

Battle!
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Philo used Stormlance on Corrupted Programs! It missed
Corrupted Program A moves to Close Range and uses Glitch Projection. Philo takes 3 damage.
Corrupted Program B moves to Close Range and uses Glitch Projection. Philo takes 2 damage
Corrupted Program C is out of range.
Shobu sends Philo a Minibomb battlechip.
Minibomb is used on Corrupted Program A. It missed.
Corrupted Program A and B use Electric Aura... which both misses.
Corrupted Program C gets in range and uses Glitch Projection. Philo takes 2 damage.
Shobu sends Philo a Minibomb battlechip.
Minibomb is used on Corrupted Program A. It hits, and splashes onto B. Deals 4 damage each.
Corrupted Program A uses Electric Aura. It hits! Philo takes 3 damage and is stunned.
B and C somehow miss their attacks lol.
Shobu uses a recovery chip on Philo! She's still stunned, but recovers 10 HP.
Corrupted Program A uses basic attack, and deals 1 damage.
B misses
C hits, dealing 1 damage.
Philo Basic Attacks Program A, she crits and deals 6 damage, destroying it.
B uses Glitch Projection, which misses!
C uses Basic attack, which hits! Philo takes 2 damage.
Philo gets a Vulcan Battlechip! All except one attack miss, and that attack doesn't deal any damage. Drat.
C and B use Electric Aura, and miss!
Philo uses Basic Attack on Program B, dealing 6 damage and destroying it.
C attacks, but misses.
and finally Philo uses Basic Attack on Program C, dealing 6 damage and destroying it.

What was meant to be a simple exercise suddenly forced the show-off Navi onto her toes. The corrupted programs dodging her first attack wasn't expected to say the least, but what was worse was that they seemed to be able to predict and dodge all of her special attacks and Battlechips. Small fry weren't meant to be this strong. The small programs rushed forward and forced their glitchy-ness onto Philo, which caused pain to run through where they hit. Her attempt at counter attacking missed, the bomb going wide.
"What the hell?"
The programs abruptly burst with electric power, which Philo avoided easily, but the third one managed to get in close and hit her. More stinging pain. Shobu probably saw how poorly she was going, and sent her a second minibomb. Gritting her teeth, the Navi launched it with force at the corrupted programs, hitting them this time. Her celebration was short lived however.

When the (digital) smoke cleared, the first program launched a burst of electricity at her. Suddenly she was stuck in place, her body stunned. Luckily for Philo, before her body locked up in place, her flinch in pain caused her to step back and accidentally dodge the other two enemies' attacks. If anyone asked, she would swear that was intentional.
Again, her Operator sent her a chip to keep her from sucking against these supposed small-fry. A recovery chip that healed her injuries. She would thank Shobu, if she was capable of moving right now.

While the second Program isn't able to get in for an attack, the other two wail on Philo while she can't move. With a frustrated yell, she steps forward and thrusts her lance into the closest program, skewering it. As it fizzled out of the digital world, one of the others slams into her, knocking her back a step.

"I don't remember these things being this tough..."
Philo gestured forward, a vulcan mini-gun appearing on her arm. A barrage of bullets was launched! But the corrupted programs dodged and weaved, clearly the glitch that altered them gave them more manoeuvrability than they once did. With a growl of annoyance, Philo leapt back as the two programs burst with energy. She wasn't going to get caught by that again. Jetting off the closest wall, she skewered another one, jumping back before the other could counter attack. With another shout of annoyance, she slammed down and pinned the poor program to the ground with her lance. She was panting slightly. That was... odd.

U.P. grumbles to herself in annoyance. She'd rather keep contact with other Navi's to a minimum for now, especially student ones. If she's gonna wanna do that though, she's gonna have to find that code fast. Turning around, she headed down the hallway that was open and looked for something of interest.

Shobu passively laid back in her chair, intently listening in on the conversations around her despite her lackadaisical appearance. From the sound of things, she could surmise Break was really making good on their promises thus far, so trying to change anything with her screen...

"Don't think that'll work, Phi. If they've gotten this far, it's safe to assume they're pretty careful and haven't made any immediately exploitable mistakes. Calling their bluff may not be the right call, or else they might make for a harsh punishment play..." She explained her case calmly, expression one of lazy interest in her situation. "Rather, we can play them at a different angle and strike where they couldn't have possibly fully accounted for... that being everyone's attempt at resisting them. So for the moment, I would very much appreciate it if—after we defeat our current opponents—you'd let the others catch up and cooperate with them for the time being? It would be helpful to our goals if we worked with them."

After speaking to her Navi, Shobu looked to the others as Damien spoke up, beginning to organize her battlechips for the battle. "I can agree that there'd be more strength in numbers, especially in this situation in which our lives are supposedly on the line. If we all work together, I'm sure we could trivialize most of what they'll send at us, or worst case scenario; they've planned for that and have measured up our opponents for just that specification. Which means we'll definitely need to work together, wouldn't you agree?" She smiled politely, her words focused on Maeleanne. "At worst, we can be extras for you to throw away at your behest."

Checking through her battlechips, she figured she'd send a Minibomb over to Philo. Might be a bit overkill, might not.

Lina finds herself slightly annoyed at how Miss Banks makes distance between them, an annoyance deepened by the fact that her Navi is mouthing off at her again, but she didn't get to where she is today but giving up so easily. She acknowledges that maybe Miss Banks isn't a touchy person, so she'll have to break down her fellow teacher some other way. Starting with a blatant lie. "I have every confidence in my Navi figuring things out. Or if she can't letting me know so I can assist her. Me looking over her shoulder would just annoy her." Lina doesn't know any of this for certain. Her Navi annoys her enough that she's barely made overtures to getting to know the thing. But Miss Banks doesn't have to know that. Matter of fact... ""It occurs to me that we've been working together, but I haven't the foggiest idea of your first name. It would be a pleasure if I could fix that. My name is Lina, just in case we had the same issue." Lina figures that just making small talk would be for the best for now, calming the other teacher down so that she can be more easily brought under her sway. She's in no rush after all. A rushed procedure only produces a shell after all and very few people indeed pay for those.

Maeleanne looked at Shobu and laughed "Ohhohohoho! I don't need throwaways, I have the highest grades in the entire school, and my Netbatling skills are absolutely flawless. I'll stop Break's attack alone, and I'll be made an Official Netbattler once they arrive." With that, her Net Navi made it out of sight of the other Navis.

After clearing out the Corrupted Programs, Shobu obtains Chip Data for the Electric Aura Battlechip, which she can have converted into a usable Battlechip at a Chip Shop.

Further down the path, they can see that the next area is up ahead, however, to the right, across the path they started from, they can see a locked Gate, which they would need to get through later. Said gate, they are aware, would require a code.

Due to the battle they were just in, PrismMan catches up to Philo "Those Programs were significantly stronger than standard Programs, standard Programs are not even capable of combat, and would not have even survived a single attack.", he says, with the usual lack of emotion "Can you scan their data for abnormalities?" Illyanna asks, to which PrismMan responds with his eyes glowing green for a moment "They have been corrupted by some sort of virus, and the corruption seems to have heightened their performance and given them the ability to project their innate electrical currents as a form of attack." he replied, before starting to move down the path "We have to hurry to the end of the network, otherwise they could do similar things to every program in the school."

Miss Banks doesn't calm down at all, she actually moves a little further away from Lina and stares at the wall, ignoring her request for her first name "C-could you just get the doors unlocked?" she asks, ALSO ignoring most of her small-talk as well.

Riku catches up with the other two Navis. Just in time to, as she catches the rest of PrismMan's explanation. As he ran down the open path. Not intent to follow behind the analytical Navi, Riku speed up trying to take the lead.

"Did you take out those corrupt programs Philo? You wanna hang back while I take the lead?" Riku said in a somewhat condescending manner. "Damien, get ready! the next set of Baddies are ours." Riku said as she rushed into the next area and towards the end of the Network.

Damien let out a sigh. Riku and Maeleanne really are two peas in a pod, Damien thought to himself as her rummaged through his bag for a box from a friend of a friend. He had been looking for a limited edition Milky-Chan figure so he had tapped into his network of friends. They weren't able to find it but they did find something else. Though he didn't get a chance to check it until now. (Use Treasure Hunter)

"You might need to be more specific then that Alyce" Damien said to the fellow operator. "Why don't you follow us to the end of the Network. We could use all the help we could get."

Before, it was slightly amusing, even if it was annoying, how Miss Banks resisted her attentions. Now Lina's just annoyed with the level of rudeness on display. "I don't know how much more clear I could be about not being able to speed the process along unless my Navi needs help." She starts, letting her annoyance color her words. "I know we're in a high pressure situation right now, but you are being horribly rude." She decides to switch tactics. Since being nice and calming wasn't working, maybe a mix of guilt and sympathy will. If this continues though... well, there's no one else around. She can probably take what she wants before anyone comes to find them and then force her to another location to finish the job. "I'm just trying to pass time until we can get out of here. Why are you fighting so hard to push me away? Did someone hurt you? Are you afraid of me? I'm scared too, but I'm trying to make the best of this situation. If I can gain a friend out of this, then, well... Well, at least something good would come out of this attack. She pitches her voice to match what she's saying, sounding saddened by Miss Banks continued rejection in order to further push her guilt.

Ah, she expected a response like that. Shobu continued to smile politely as her offer was foolishly turned down. "Suit yourself," she said, ending her conversation with the arrogant girl and shrugging. The gambler then turned to the others, offering the same smile and nodding in greeting. "Guess that leaves us, huh? Well, it'll be a pleasure working with you all!" Hopefully they'd be useful in their battle against Break. Losing this game didn't seem like an acceptable loss.

Shobu turned her attention back to the task at hand. Her Navi seemed to have gotten a bit of a workout from the small fry. "So you've heard him, Phi. Be a little on guard, right? I'm sure these hindrances are small in comparison to what else Break has in their hand." Her voice was analytical as she observed the situation, lazily resting her head on her hand. "It is interesting that they'd go so far as to prepare these small fry. Break's really serious about this game, but aren't they putting a few too many eggs in this basket? You'd think they wouldn't need to expend so much effort on little ole' us."

She waited for the rest of the Navis to catch up. Most probably were watching her make a fool of herself anyway. Bastards didn't even try to help... Well, not that she needed it anyway. She gave thumbs up directed at her Operator, acknowledging her instructions, just as PrismMan caught up.

Philo nodded as PrismMan spoke. While she understood the gist of what had happened by being hit by them first hand, his analysis was more accurate than just her intuition. When he started walking, she followed a bit ahead of him.
"That virus is rough, if those were just basic programs I don't want to see what would happen to a combat program or a Navi like us."
She stopped in her tracks for a second, looking herself over. Hopefully that wasn't contagious.

When Riku started rushing ahead, Philo scoffed and sped up to stay just behind her. Not going to let this show off take all the fun. But there was more to it than that. She was starting to worry about what could be waiting for them.
"Don't go too far ahead of the rest of us. If weaklings like that can put up a fight, you're screwed if you run into one of Break's actual Navis alone."

U.P. thinks she hears other Navi's, but can't be sure. She continues to look around for anything that would help her progress, already starting to complain about the "friendly" navi's she has yet to meet. Why the hell couldn't that door of have a switch right next it? Why did she have to travel so far to do anything?
