Robert's grip on the pistol tightened uncomfortably around the fresh pistol, her hand shaking from the exertion of tensed muscles, the wolf's howl echoing the cries of the wounded and dying men in her mind.

"H-Hold the line," she barked, trying to sound confident, saving her last shot for if the beast dashed in on them.

Combat Rolls

With a quick pull of the crossbow, Ertha launches a flagged arrow into the beast's shoulder. The wolf winched and stumbled back right into Alane's spell. The ground turns an eerie purple as foul smelling bubbles rise up and splash the wolf. You all hear it whimper as the purple toxin disappears. Next Kiera comes in to attack with her spear and by manages to embed it into the wolf's chest.

Now fully aggravated, the large beast howls and attempts to rush forward to attack. Smelling the fear radiating from Robert's body, it attempts to attack the solider. But a well placed shot causes the beast to flinch. With the opportunity open, Robert rushes in and delivers a punishing blow.

With such a strong show of force, you frighten the large beast back into the forest. As it limps away, you see many an opening to finish it. But for now nothing stands between you and your supplies.

Looking at the map, you see you can either go north to the Black Gate, West to the Cliffs or East to find an entrance to the Military District.

Seeing that the beast was heavily wounded and retreating, Keira seized the opportunity and rushed in for another attack. She spun her spear around her hand and completed one full body rotation, extending her weapon as she lunged her royal spear into her target again. She was hoping the rest of her squad would follow up with her as well, but perhaps they where content to get their gear back. This was Keira first real fight out in the world, and she wasn't about to let her target escape.

The smell of cordite stun her nostrils as the smoke cleared from her vision and Rebecca sighed in relief as the wolf tried to retreat. She could feel the heat of the barrel though her glove of the pistol she had reversed to club it in the ribs before it had retreated, ignoring the volley of fire it had taken on the way in.

Methodically, she reloaded the two pistols, keeping the flints in half-cock in case another beast should appear, repeating the mantra of 'slow is smooth, smooth is fast' as she went through the loading process. Drawing the small knife from her belt she stepped forward towards the horses, intent on completing the grisly mercy that would be required there.

Her jaw tightened as she saw the 'Little Princess' chase after the wolf, but made no effort to stop the errant soldier.

Ertha kept her bow raised as the beat retreated, tension still high and adrenaline still pumping. Her eyes watched it like a hawk, a careful piercing gaze to spot any sign of it maybe turning around at any moment. Logically, she knew that wolves didn't employ such tactics to kill their prey, but this thing had already proven itself to be different to a wolf in most respects. It didn't get far enough before one of the knights (Keira, she remembered) went off after it. Ertha personally agreed with the plan. Letting something so dangerous retreat sounds like a bad move, as it could always come back when they least expect it and ruin everything.

But she didn't follow her own advice. She had a limited supply of ammo and didn't want to waste not one bit of it if she didn't have to. Speaking of... Ertha walked over to their rescued rewards, checking the contents to see what they were fighting for. The supplies were definitely worth it, without a doubt. Food, medical supplies, and other useful tools that they probably wouldn't find in Schwarzberg. She looked over to Robert, seeing him move towards the horses. Then to Alane, and Keira.... it almost looked like no one was minding her. She could probably escape, right this moment. She has her bow, she's by the supplies, and there's no chains on her...

... She decided not to. With the chaos over, chances were good one of them would look over at the last minute and she'd get shot in the back. Still, Ertha sneaked a hand into the crate of supplies and grabbed one of the rations, hiding it in a little slip in the inside of her skirt. When she DID make her escape, having some amount of food for the road would be helpful.

The wounded wolf still proves to be rather fast then Keira. She chases the beast west towards the cliffs, deeper into the forest. Finally, the Wolf pauses giving the Knight the chance to attack.

Royal Spear Attack
Accuracy (18(Mark Target) + 14 - 23 = 9), Accuracy Roll: 8, Hit!
Damage: 14 + 10(1d10) - 8 = 16 + (Mark Target Bonus) = 15

Finding the open wound Robert had left with his combination attack. Plunging your spear in, the wolf lets out a death cry. It's head falls to the ground with a thud. The light from the beast's eyes fades. As Keira basks in the glow of her first victory and the the wolf's pristine coat, she realizes she's stranded quite a ways from her squad.

Before she returns, Keira (Only) hears the sounds of soft moans and slapping flesh further west.

Back at the wagon, Robert grants the two horses as quick, merciful end. Looking up, he sees the 'Little Princess' Disappear into the forest. Just as Ertha pockets one of the rations, the three of you hear footsteps coming from the forest. "Ho there! Are you alright?" Stepping out of the forest you see a man in rather drab armor move forward. "I was on patrol and heard gunfire. I go by Luka. I am a member of the Black Gate Garrison"

Alane let out a sigh of relief as the beast turned back after their initial assault preparing to retreat from the battle. It was her first time in a fight, and she was glad she would be getting through this unharmed. Her attention was caught by Keira charging after the retreating foe. The girl almost seemed pleased to be in battle which only worried Alane. Could they count on her if they decided to avoid or retreat from an enemy rather than fight every threat they came across? Only time would tell.

She turned back to the supplies too late to notice Ertha taking anything. The first thing she noticed was the map to refamiliarize herself with the city's layout. It had been a long time since she'd set foot inside those walls. Would she even recognize it anymore? Was it even still the same city to be recognized after so long? "We should divide this up, so we don't have one person responsible for everything."

She turned in surprise as she heard footsteps approaching worried that something else was coming at them from the woods, but it turned out to only be a local guard on patrol. "Oh, you startled me. Yes, we were just troubled by a massive wolf. I-it took out our horses. She began looking around for a moment. "Where's Keira, please tell me she didn't chase that beast too far."

Keira took a few moments to bask in the glory of her kill. It hadn't been long since her last hunt but the adrenaline rush of combat had proven a bit strong. She took several deep breaths as she pulled her spear free of the beast and looked over her prize. She didn't know exactly how to skin a wolf, and she didn't have a knife. She decided that it wasn't worth trying with the odds stacked against her. Just as she was about to turn back towards the road and wagon she heard the soft moaning and flesh slapping sound. Feeling quite indestructible, she readied her spear and made her way towards the noise, as quietly as possible.

Luka blushes a bit when Alane answers him. "I see you've meet the forest's resident Alpha Predator. He prowls around looking for food. Your horses might have been too nice a meal to resist." He says in a rather casual way. With a small laugh, he turns to Robert and Ertha. "Are you on your way to the city? I was on my way back to the main gate if you need a guide?"

Moving deeper into the forest, you hide in the bush advancing towards the noise. Peering through the greenery, you see an old wagon pieced with arrows and littered with holes. Looking to the ground in front of the cart, you find the source of the sound.

Naked and covered in dirt, you see a young woman with long red hair on all fours. Behind her, a scrawny man in all black rapes her quivering pussy. From behind the cart, another bulkier man moves towards the pair. He drags an older man in a driver's uniform and tosses him aside.

"Be sure to clean up when you're done Chester. Gotta make her presentable when we sell her back to the city" the second man says as her sits on a stump.

Ertha narrowed her eyes at the newcomer, suspicious of his convenient appearance, especially after a very real threat had passed. She never trusted anyone, and new people who were too convenient and friendly were the absolute height of suspiciousness, in her mind. She ignored his question, instead looking around at the mention of their missing teammate. Was it really taking her that long to finish off the wounded beast? Ertha herself would have killed it and returned within a minute... then again, if that Keira knight ended up not showing, that'd be fine by her. Less security meant a higher chance of success for her escape when she tried.

The still grumpy thief turned around, walking off to lean against a tree, her head down and her eyes closed in a manner that clearly voiced 'don't talk, look, or breathe near me' while also making it seem like she wasn't aware of her surroundings.

Alane gives Luka a curious look partially confused about his blush but finding herself concerned about what the guard was saying. "Resident Alpha Predator? F-for how long? My parents live out here, and I've never heard about anything like a wolf that big. It was huge even compared to the horses." She was getting a bit hysterical at this point at the thought of her father living out here with this thing, or her mother still in the city unable to get home because of this thing traipsing around.

At this point, she was standing right in front of the man. Her hands wrapped around his arms firmly as she stared him dead in the eye a moment passing before they welled up with tears and her grip loosened. "What's been going on around here. Th-this is supposed to be my home, but there's nothing like this there..n-nothing."

Robert wiped the knife clean on a patch of grass as she finished her task, looking up to see the stranger approaching. Swallowing hard, she breathed calmly and stood back up, nonchalantly resting her hands on her belt near her holsters.

"Alane," she barked, trying to distract the man who called himself Luka. If he had any wayward intentions than the naive girl had just given herself up as hostage.

Trying to keep her eyes on both the Thief and the man, she walked briskly, extending her hand to shake and interpose herself between the Alane and him.

"Lieutenant Smith, 156th Fusiliers, Royal Litchstadt Army" she introduced herself smartly with a click of her heels.

She was about to go on when noticed the Little Princess had indeed vanished into the either and groaned.

"The gate will have to wait I'm afraid," interposed herself in the conversation, "We have a wayward lamb to find first."

Storming back to the wagon she tossed the remaining supplies into a pack, apart from the coins which she deposited securely in her purse while keeping an eye on the Thief, and slung it over her shoulder. They could divide it more appropriately later, first they needed to find... to find... damnit, what was her name again? Robert cursed that his ego had gotten in the way of the vital duty of remembering his command.

"Did anyone see which way she went?"

Keira gritted her teeth as she watched the terrible scene unfold before her. Despite the fact she was without her squad she could not let this poor girl continue to be raped and abused by her captors. She crept forward through the bush and behind the cart. The larger bulkier man would be her first target. The man in all black was likely too occupied to see her approach. And the sound of sex was hopefully enough to cover her approach. When she was finally in position behind the bulky man she would quickly and cleanly thrust her spear through his back and out of his chest, assuming she had not been heard or seen before hand.

Luka puts his hands on Alane's shoulders, trying to steady the young girl. "I'm not quite sure myself. Strange things began to happen once the Schwarz family closed the gate. They just tell me to guard the gate and escort any tributes into the city." He said rubbing the back of his head. "If it makes you feel any better. The larger stuff tends to stays close to the wall."

Just as he was getting closer to Alane, Luka backs away when he hears Robert's voice. The guard gives you a salute and shook your hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Private Luka Grant, 14th Black Gate Platoon, Schwarzberg Militia. If you need a hand finding your companion, I'll lend you one."

It doesn't take long for Robert to catch onto the trail of their Little Princess. Her tracks run right along that of the large wolf from before going west.

Well Shit. Thought Keira to herself as she watched her spear playfully bounce off of the man. "That all you got little boy?" Said Keria as the scrawny man's dagger sunk into her skin. She tightened the grip on her spear and plunged it toward the dagger-wielding opponent.

Alane looked at the man with a lost expression as he explained his own lack of knowledge about the current situation before Robert's bark brought her back to the present. Pulling free of the man's grip, she looked down abashedly. "S-sorry." SHe couldn't believe she let herself behave that way. She was here on a mission, and she needed to keep her wits about her. She turned back to Robert as he got ready to search for the trail. "She was chasing that wolf which should have left a pretty clear trail with its size." But the man had already located the very trail she was speaking of by the time she finished saying it. Quietly, she followed after him while trying to keep an eye about their surroundings. Who knew what else might be out here right now.

Robert was unsure about the newcomer joining them, but decided it was better to keep him where she could see him.

Turning to the Thief before they started out, she jangled the irons links on her belt as a silent warning about her running off, though she decided to not inform Luka about their companions nefarious past. She saw no gain in the regard and if anything the truth may sour any building relationship.

Striding through the woods after the tracks, she sighed as came across the wolf's corpse, gently running her gloved fingers through it's fur and she made a silent prayer. The beast had just acted in its nature, and she just hoped that if they ever needed to flee their enemy would be more merciful. That, however, did not answer where the little princess was and she hadn't returned after dispatching the wounded beast.

Noticing the tracks, she motioned for the others to remain silent and crept west after the tracks

Ertha pretended not to hear the commotion, intent on keeping her eyes closed and her head down until they were moving on, but she still listened in with a sharp ear. Hearing the civilian's unfortunate story struck a chord in the rogue, knowing the pain that came with worrying for a parent... well, parental figure. There were many times she had been worried about Erhardt, and the last time she was, was the time she lost him. She pitied the girl, knowing the cruelty of the world and the high chance of the very same people she was worrying about were most likely dead. Such was the way things worked in reality.

Her melancholy was interrupted by the familiar metallic sound of chains ringing. She knew exactly what message was being conveyed with the sound. The reminder was annoying, as much as the soldier's apparent need to do so at every opportunity he had. If there was one thing Ertha could say about the lieutenant, is that he really did seem to be an unnecessarily overbearing and serious soldier. She didn't mind the fact that it was quite hypocritical of her to say so when she herself was quite serious, and would be just as overbearing if she had to watch a prisoner of her own.

With a sigh, she pushed off the tree and gave the group her attention once more, marching off to follow the pack into the woods. She made sure to give the dead wolf a cold glare, feeling some animosity for the creature that caused their plans to derail... though, the failure of any plans made by her captives could possibly be a good opportunity, in this case she wasn't able to capitalize on it.

Taking a step back Keira push the ornate spear forward and manage to catch the rogue in the side. Sliding back, the vagabond lets the larger bandit come in to attack. Swinging downward with his club like sword, he tries to slam her into the ground. It catches Keira in the shoulder, but you manage to stand your ground.

Just as the young knight gains her bearings, she sees the rogue flying at her. Daggers up like fangs ready to rend your flesh. With a small step, the blades just graze your neck. Keira feel a tinge of blood run down her neck. Any deep and she might not have survived. "Damn, that usually works" He said landing on his feet.

Meanwhile, Robert, Ertha, Alane and Luke follow the trail until they find the corpse of the Ebony Maned Wolf. Ertha gives the dead animal the mother of all death stares in the view of everyone else. It's here that you hear the sounds of metal clashing. Further easy, you manage to see Keira fighting off two bandits with a naked woman laying in the dirt by the side.

The moment they stumbled upon the scene and her mind processed it, Ertha immediately brought her crossbow to arms, a hot glare on one of the unlucky bastards who dared to rape anyone with her nearby. Ertha hated many types of people, but the worst type of them all were the horny assholes who couldn't keep it in their pants and forced themselves on the weak. She herself had a few run-ins with people like that who thought she could make a good target. Ertha's proud to say that to this day, she's successfully stabbed every rapist and would-be rapist she's encountered. This one won't be any different.

Though she was pissed off, Ertha was a professional at her craft. She coolly aimed at the scrawnier bandit's knee, firing a painted bolt targeting his leg in hopes to immobilize him, so that she could properly punish the bastard with a more rough and painful weapon, that being her dagger.
