As Ren enters the dark room, he can't make out anything going on at first, but his training helps him adapt to what's present before anything else goes on. He immediately lets his stealth practice take over, clinging to shadows and climbing a wall to look and see what's going on for this entrance exam. (Luck:14) Spotting a pedestal, there appears to be a small talisman of some kind sitting on it. Around it are groups of shambling creatures, likely some kind of undead. They will not be fooled by any kind of disguise, but their slow movements provide an alternate way of dealing with them.

____________________________________________________

The tall elf herm enters the room, her staff on her back and her smile bright and cheerful as she prepares to enjoy her chance to join the prestigious school and gain access to all that knowledge. And all of those attractive hunters and huntresses of course. Neither should be over looked as Heotasy's grin broadens. A small raised area is visible, (luck:6) a large golem visible. It looks like it's made of rocks and looks pretty sturdy. It doesn't seem to be moving yet, but the exit seems to be locked shut until something is done.

____________________________________________________

Before the door opens, Vanessa racks her rifle, letting the bolt slam forward as a fresh round enters the chamber. Holding it down in a safe position, she begins to edge around the now open door, slicing the pie to figure out where she is. The scene is different, (luck:18) resembling something like an old abandoned area. A large scuffling sound can be heard 'outside' of the building, which she presume to be a training simulation. Approaching the edge, the young woman spots a very large wolf snuffling at the building she's in.

_____________________________________________________

The door opens to a well lit inside ballroom as Bailey exits the prep room. (Luck:19) Glancing around, he spots what is likely a challenger. Except, there's a large group of people, something feeling odd about them. His holy magic seems to tingle, indicating some kind of demon or other undead is present. Glancing around, he doesn't see anything that looks out of place, and sees no incongruity, meaning it's likely a vampire. Fortunately, he just needs to figure out a way to spot him, and a quick blast of healing magic should put the vampire on their ass.

I skip my way into the testing chamber, my mind distracted with what I'm going to do when I gain access the school. Study, fuck my teammates, train, go another round with my teammates, beat up lots of monsters, then fuck my team- no my teachers instead~ I hum as I scan the room looking at the raised platform and noticing the Golem I skip up to it. "Hi Mr. Golem, say you wouldn't happen to be able to allow me to pass would you? It would really help me a lot." I stay quick on my feet ready to jump away just in case, and started looking around and scanning my brain for anything that might destroy it in case I'm forced to.

Bailey adjusted his cufflinks as he entered the room. The young man was determined to past this entrance exam. Not just for himself but for everyone back at the orphanage. Once he's inside the ballroom, he senses the presence of the vampire. But how was he going to pick the monster out from the group?

Walking casually into the room, Bailey began looking for any water he could bless and use to detect the vampire. If he didn't find any, he would look for mirrors and reflective surfaces that didn't show a person's reflection. If neither of those plans worked, Bailey had one last option. The young man bit his thumb until he broke skin. As a trickle of blood seeped out, He hoped to attract the vampire to him.

Ren looked out from his vantage point. 'Undead?' He thought to himself. Ren was sure he could handle some undead, there was one problem. He was not sure if he needed to take out all the undead or just get the talisman. Ren shrugged and shook his head. He already had a couple ideas how to try and get the talisman. Ren followed along the wall a bit before he started to set up an explosive. It was a simple explosive, nothing fancy. He then pulled out a small string of fire crackers, the ones that made more noise then light. He quickly lit it, hiding and flame from the undead and quickly circled around the room. He then waited for the fire crackers to go off and once the undead moved away from the pedestal, Ren would hurry to it and get the talisman. He also hoped the explosive would take out a few of the undead.

Vanessa opened and eyes and moved flawlessly as the door opened, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Her weapon flashed about, covering the corners as best she could as a single unit, the Steyr an extension of her body and arms. Her boots stepped lightly and carefully, feet never crisscrossing as she advanced, side stepped and turned to cover her rear every set number of paces, just as her parents had taught and drilled into her.

The scuffling sound attracted her attention and she stalked to the window to look down at street level to see what it was. Her heart rate crept up as she saw the wolf, and he trigger finger itched. She would have opened up on the beast then and there, she could imagine it clearly, the Steyr Aug F88 thumping back into her shoulder as the 5.56aus rounds spawled through the creature rending flesh and creating massive internal trauma as the rounds dumped their energy inside it. She liked the F88 for that reason, the Australian round was more powerful than the standard NATO and when dealing with these creatures that edge could matter.

But she didn't fire, the voice in the back of head reminded her she had not cleared her surroundings. There was no use engaging one enemy if another was lurking just behind her. Leaving the window she proceeded to finish clearing the floor she was on, the wolves noise allowing her to keep track of it while she worked. If it was still there by the time she was done she would check her pack to see exactly what she had been given for this test to use.

(DEX:7+3)

The shamblers turn when they hear the distractions going off, beginning to migrate closer to it. None of them seem to be badly hurt, although Ren can't tell much in the poor lighting conditions. The creatures moans give him a good warning when most of them are away, and Ren quickly darts in toward the pedestal. Too late, Ren spots an alarm string, snagging it and some bells ring, the shamblers doing as close to a snapping turn as they can given their condition. He's got the talisman, but the simulation doesn't end.

(Dex:15+1), (Wis:17+4)

The rock golem begins to grind into motion as Heotasy moves toward it, telegraphing the coming blow. Being on her toes, the elf herm dodges the initial blow. But a rock golem like this is resistant to electrical spells, being a large block of ambulatory rock rather than something made of meat. Tapping her lips in thought, a quick survey of the room shows some glowing runes reflecting from the side of the arena structure. Not seeing any of the common glyphs she knows are common, it's likely that the arena itself has the magic that's keeping it moving. This is an obvious test of mental problem solving.

(Dex:12+7+1(Ambush))

The rounds bark out of the Aug, slamming through the upper torso of the wolf, who doesn't get off a howl, not that the unsuppressed rifle wasn't enough of a signal. The alley way echos with the crash of the sonic booms left by the small silver alloy plated rounds disrupting the projection slightly. The beast collapses, blood seeping from its wounds and onto the ground. When the ringing in Vanessa's ears clear enough, she hears a bit more shuffling, but from inside of the building. A much smaller pair of noses sticks out, indicating that it's likely a pair of smaller cubs. Recalling missions like this from her own training, this is an obvious 'search and destroy' simulation. She brought a small rappelling kit for a fast drop, or she can try to clear through the building the old fashioned way.

A large bowl of water is available next to the punch bowl, possibly the remains of some ice sculpture or other. A glass full and a quick prayer are all that's necessary before the familiar tingle of his holy blessing comforts Bailey. Fortunately, there's a great deal of highly polished jewelry, much of it silver and gold to look through. Keeping his eyes peeled, the blessed man spots a young woman that doesn't seem to be showing up in her surrounding dancers surfaces, and lacks any sort of silver on her person as well. She can't stop herself from jerking when Bailey bites his thumb, seeming to confirm it as her eyes widen ever so slightly, her nose flaring at the smell.

Jumping back I put enough space between me and the Golem before I study the Glyphs a little more, these were not supposed to be here so they must be powering the Golem. Interesting... If these are powering the Golem... Then all I need to do is disrupt it... Grinning, I quickly chant, twirling my staff in hand and pointing it towards the glyph, and sent out an arc of lightning towards the unusual glyph, hoping to over load it.

There she is Bailey thought to himself as she spotted the young woman. With the cup of holy water in hand, he slowly waded through the crowd as to not draw suspicion. Once he was close, he tossed the water onto the young woman. The minute he saw a reaction, he would reach out and lay his hands on the suspected vampire. "Be cleansed of evil! Holy light!" He says as he fills her with healing magic.

Ren curses as the alarm goes off. He should have known it was there. Of course yelling at himself will not change his situation. Ren looks at the talisman, wondering just what it did. Ren took out a kunai and threw it at one of the shambling undeads, closest to him. He was aiming for the head, hoping that this was how you took out this kind of undead. "Let's go for broke." Ren said looking at the talisman and put it on. He then threw a couple more Kunai before he jumped off the pedestal and moved away from the shambling undead.

Vanessa cursed to herself as the weapon bucked and spat fire from the slight pressure she had put on trigger, but she kept it on target all the same. Either the simulation was over sensitive or someone had been tampering with her weapon if it was firing on first pressure.

She had not wanted to engage the first target until she had known her floor was secure, but it looked like that plan was out the window with her bullets. She snapped the weapon to face in the direction of the two snouts that poked around the corner and emptied the rest of the magazine into the wall shielding the creatures, wondering if the designers of this simulation had taken into account ballistic penetration.

Swapping mags fluidly when the aug ran dry she slowly began to advance to confirm the kill or hunt down the other two.

The kunai Ren throws are dead on, puncturing eyes and nose regions, the entire group falling. Only two groups left. His fall back seems to confuse them as they try to move around the pedestal toward the ninja, or climb over it. These shamblers are very badly decayed, barely able to control themselves. The talisman seems to pulse as it's pocketed, and a feeling of unease permeates the room. Ren had no idea that the simulation rooms were this detailed.

The lightning strikes out, and the glyph pulses as it struggles to absorb the energy. The ground it's carved into cracks and splinters, the glyph flicker as it ends, the golem stuttering in its movements. The elf herm giggles to herself, happy to have figured out such a difficult enemy. Of course this is a test, it couldn't be this simple could it? The cracks begin to disappear, interrupting Heotasy's thoughts. 'Ah, that makes more sense.' Other parts of the runes seem to be glowing, and a quick glance shows that that particular set is repeated throughout. A couple of good strong hits in rapid succession should take care of it though, she just needs to maintain her distance and keep the chants up.

The rounds blitz into the concrete, a shower of dust falling afterwards. The two creatures yelp, moving away before charging around the wall. Their movements are highly erratic, and Vanessa only manages to score a a few before they make the final leap towards her. The simulation dissolves in a shower of sparks, a tall woman in advanced armor stepping forward. "We had such high hopes for you, why did you fail like that?" She asks, in a very calm voice. Vanessa can't help but become immediately furious, the simulation was so broken! Surely a fellow soldier should know that!

As Bailey approaches, the woman doesn't seem to react, but somehow manages to not be there when he throws the water toward her. If he didn't know better, he'd say that she has the damnedest luck. The dance stops, and everyone moves away from where the wet floor is now. A quick glance shows that the vampire is out of touch range. There's got to be some way of getting close to her to cast a spell. Bailey begins to see why the school is a bit harder to enter.

This is Bad Bailey thought to himself. Not only was he out of reach but now he's drawn attention to himself. He needed to change tactics.

"Excuse me madame." He said turning to the expected Vampire. "I'm sorry about the mess. I promise you it was an accident." He said as he put the holy water down on a table. "I'm sure someone will clean it up soon. But that's no reason to stop the party. Shall we dance?" He said offering his hand to the woman.

....Though he didn't realize the hand he stretched out was the one he cut.

Heotasy giggles and steps back a few, putting even more distance between her and the golem. "Now please just stay there you rock hard beast." She chuckles once more and starts grinning and chanting at fast speeds. If that set was there, might as well hit all of it at once. She twirled her staff around her and pointed back at the rune, a lot Lightning arcing out from behind her and towards the rune, trying to hit it in all the right places. "Have at thee magi ma-... Vanessa let her weapon hang loose on its one point sling after putting it on safe and clearing the breach. Straightening up and smoothing down her skirt as she patiently waited for the game to finish ending.

"It was your simulation that failed," She corrected the woman, "It failed to correctly address many factors to properly assess as a formative task. For a start it failed to properly acknowledge differentiating pressure on the trigger of my weapon, failing to register the slack in a trigger before activating the firing mechanism. Secondly your simulation does not accurately reflect the penetration of real rounds."

She reached up and pulled the plugs from her ear and placed them in her pocket.

"The affect of over pressure was also not factored into the behaviour of the animal. With it's sensitive hearing, there is no way it would have stayed and tried to engage after being wounded and caused intense audible pain."

Ren looks down at his pocket, curious about why the talisman pulsed. Ren looked back at the shamblers, and threw more kunai at them. Ren did a quick check of his equipment. He pulled out his last small grenade. Ren lit it and tossed it into the group, making sure they would move over it before it went off. Ren pulled out the talisman, wondering just what he had to do with it, but still kept an eye on the undead, making sure they don't get too close.

When Ren pulls out the talismen, he sees that part of the large circular design at the top is glowing. A semi circle almost a third around. He glances back as he finishes throwing his kunai, the shamblers falling down. Another glance shows the circle at a greater fill level than before. Making the connection, he quickly does his best to finish off the shamblers, making short work of the clumsy, slow moving undead. The circle pulses once they're all defeated, and a section of the door glows, waiting for the talisman.

The door opens, a tall man in well formed ninja armor greets you. "You did well. You captured the obvious target without attacking first, only resorting to attacking when you failed. You realized what was happening with the spell, and took care of reasonably. All in all, excellent work. Welcome to our school." He tells you with a bow, before gesturing behind him to a meeting room with a number of people meeting each other.

______________________________________________

@ Badger

The rock golem struggles at the limits of activation runes, trying to do anything to keep Heotasy from destroying the glyphs its life depends on. Her blasts of lightning create surges through the glowing runes, flares showing up and sparks extending. The system collapses, the edges of the arena turned into a molten wreck as the magic finally subsides. A young woman, very attractive at that, meets the elf at the opposite side. "You did well, realizing immediately how to defeat an opponent that was highly resistant to your preferred magic school. An excellent job. We welcome you to our school."

_______________________________________

@ exalted

The tall woman raises her head at Vanessa's suggestion that the simulation was flawed. As the young woman lists the flaws in the simulation though, the woman in armor nods, eventually beginning to smile. "Excellent, we get plenty of dumb brutes that understand which end to point at the enemy, it's nice to see someone in my school who actually knows how their equipment and the world around them is supposed to work." The instructor gives a small set of claps before opening the door to the next room.

_____________________________________

@ Mark

The woman's eyes flash yellow, her nose flares, and she can't help but lick her lips. She's definitely a vampire, Bailey confirms before the woman reaches out to take his hand, trembling at the blood. She seems to play at the idea of being surprised the blood is there, taking the hand closer to her lips. Bailey doesn't even need to try, the spell he prepared earlier flashing to his lips and the mana surging from his body into hers. She burns out and collapses in a pile of dust.

A woman meets him then, this one very different. She's carrying a staff with the holy symbol of healers. "You did more than stand back and wait for the injured to come. When presented with a challenge, you approached without hesitation and attacked as needed. You will make a fine addition to my ranks."

________________________________________________

All:

The murmuring masses of prospective students quiets as the last few people trickle in. Five people join a single man at a podium at the front of the presentation hall. He introduces them as his five deans of the different schools of combat theory. "You have all proven that you are more than the common people who posses your skills, we are glad to have students who can learn outside of their normal thought processes at our school, and we look forward to seeing what you can all accomplish here. Now, you will need to form groups, no less than four no more than six, although four is the preferred amount." He finishes out, moving away from the podium to wait on the milling mass of students to figure out who they want to group with. Each of you slowly begins to notice the others, something about each standing out in an odd way.

Bailey gave the woman a gracious bow. "Thank you for the kind words. I would help with exorcisms when I lived at the abbey." He said as he looked at the pile of dust on the floor.

Now that he was outside the examination room, the young healer stood with the other students as she listened to the opening speech. Once it was done, he started looking around the room to find people to form a group. There were definitely a lot of interesting characters, but a few definitely stood out. Wadding through the crowd to approach a boy in a blue ninja outfit. Bailey had noticed him when he entered the presentation hall. He couldn't believe there was a boy with a face as girlish as his.

"H-hi" Bailey said timidly. "You wouldn't already be in a group would you? I'm Bailey, Bailey Montana from the St. Montana Abbey"

Ren bows to the man. "Thank you." He said with a slight smile. He was just glad to have gotten through the test. He stood up and went through the door.

Ren felt singled out, a little. The meeting room already had so many people in it. It seemed as if they were waiting on him. Ren blushed a little, feeling eyes on him. He was not sure if they were staring because of when he came in or because of his figure and face. Ren comes to a stop, wondering just what was going to happen next. Soon it seems the last of the students arrive and the welcome speech begins. Ren started to worry about the whole groups thing. He wondered if all the other students already had their groups in mind.

Ren sighed to himself as he glanced around the hall. There were so many students and all of them seemed to be talking with someone already. Ren took a deep breath and was about to approach someone who looked like they would be some kind of soldier, when a voice surprised him. Ren looked at another girly guy, this put Ren at ease. "Nice to meet you, Bailey." Ren said with a grin. "I am in a group...now." He said and pointed at Bailey. "Me and you." He gave a wink. "Two cute guys on a mission together." He looked Bailey up and down. "You know, I could find a cute outfit for you...Wait." He said the last part as if he realized something. "Your last name is the name of the abbey! Does that mean your ancestors built it? Are you like a super strong healer or something?"

Vanessa blew a tuft a hair away from her face as she smiled smugly from the instructor's admiration as she strolled into the hall. Looking around for a group to join she noticed a pair of solid looking girls, one dressed as some blue parody of of a ninja and the other a medic. She rolled her eyes at the first girls garb, not believing anyone could be that immature to pretend a be a ninja, even here; she was probably some anime fan girl nerd or something. But, if the woman was able to move a deftly as the costume implied she would be useful to Vanessa's own skill set, and a medic was always required for any operation.

Vanessa's expression soured as she neared the two 'girls' and heard them talking.

"Oh, you're boys... that's disappointing." She said casually, looking around for another group but not seeing any other openings, "Fine, I guess you will have to do."

Bailey blushed as Ren accepted his offer to form a group together. "That's great! I don't really have that many cute outfits. I just have this and my choir dress." He says with a laugh. Though when Ren starts to fawn over his last name, the girlish healer got nervous. "Oh no no no. I don't really have a last name me and some of the other orphans use the abbey as a last name. I'm not a really strong healer, I'm still a novice." He said trying to be humble.

As they talked, Bailey noticed the solider in a miniskirt stand by. He wasn't sure how to the the comment about being disappointing but they needed a third member and the girl looked really strong. " Uh... welcome to the group. I'm Bailey and this is Ren"
