Necromunda: Spirefall

Postby Gorbaz » Wed Jan 11, 2017 1:02 am

War. It is everywhere in the galaxy. Mankind has spread from one side to the other, encountered new alien life and civilisations, and bombed them into the dust. Very few major civilisations stand now in the wake of the bloated Imperium of Man, and their 10,000 year-old God-Emperor, as the civilisation built up in his name rots and festers from within, groaning under ten millennia of oppression, technological regression, and enforced religious dogma.

But nobody cares about that shit in the Hive Primus on Necromunda. At least, not those in the lower Hive, and really not those in the underhive. Every day is a struggle to survive, making sure you have the creds to buy enough food for yourself, or that you can afford that last bottle of Wildsnake. And that's not to mention accidently getting killed by a piece of badly-maintained machinery, deliberately getting gunned down by someone who doesn't like your face, or literally have billions of tons of steel fall on your head one day.

And, in some cases, people have just had enough. Had enough of the work, the taxes, the endless stress of which gang owns what, and which house they are with today So what do they do? Why, form their own gangs, of course, and go kill the people who are making their lives miserable! Or just dive into The Sup and slowly dissolve away while giant spiders with crystal eyes eat their flesh.

Most go with the first option.

Salyandra
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

The days since your joining had been most interesting indeed. One half was familiar with the petty politics of the Hive, as well as where things were, how things operated, and who it is generally a bad idea to annoy - chief among those being a group of fire-loving fanatics calling themselves The Redemption. The other half, meanwhile, was thoroughly enjoying the new experiences presented in this material realm. However, the people of your latest home had started to look at you for just a little too long, whispers just a little too many, along with a few mentions of "purging". Perhaps it would be best to relocate for the time being? Word from those traders who actually stop by anymore is that the Guilders have recently sent their Watchmen to eliminate a gang who had crossed them one too many times. Perhaps their homes were now up for grabs?

Aloris
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Life in the workshops of the Van Saar is boring. As a new entry to the ranks, you had a full two days being shown around where you would work, before life became a constant stream of "polish this, file that, go get supplies". You were happy to have a job, but couldn't life be better? You'd spent time practicing when you could with some of the quality goods your hands produced, and one day decided it was time to slip away and start your own, more exciting life. Grabbing what weapons you could, and a handful of creds, you fasten up your enviro-suit and set out for a patch of land, which your elders have said has recently left the hands of House Orlock, and is up for grabs

Lyz Brickley
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Life on the streets was nothing new, having grown up outside of a more traditional family. Your 'condition' made you a person who most preferred to stay away from, except for one man who took you in. Life was good enough for a while, and you even learned a few things about being an information broker. After all, nobody would suspect the sickly child of being anything other than dead in the next few days. It was, however, not to last as fear and paranoia started to grip House Delaque's leadership with news trickling up from the Underhive regarding a renewed zombie plague outbreak, and that you might be linked to it, and worse bring it into the fold. So, you have been let go again. However, a parting gift from your adoptive father has been left in your coat pocket - a map to quiet enough corner of the Hive, enough supplies to get you there, and a warning - Watch for Spyrers.

Roman Kyros
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Life in House Goliath is hard. It is supposed to be hard. It builds character, after all! And the harder you get, the better you are at taking from everyone else what they do not deserve to have. Like the settlement of Platinum Fall, for one. Probably named for the amount of precious metals that went through the area at one point, but now a place where creds can fall through fingers faster than water. Those hated Orlocks used to have it, but Guilders gave them a slap, and now nobody has it. If you claimed it for yourself and proved strong enough to hold it, who knows where you could go? Maybe all the way to the Upper Hive?

The settlement of Platinum Fall, is an out-of-the-way place. Small enough that the larger organisations ignore it for not being in enough creds, but large enough to be on at least two trader routes. It used to be a town build next to a massive metal refinery when the Hive was a lot smaller, but as the Hive grew, it was used less and less. Now it is home to a few families, who run small, local gambling establishments, among other things. Close by to it, the old metal refinery has half-collapsed and now has several different chambers instead of one huge one, and has become home to quite a dazzling array of fungi. Most are edible, some might well be narcotic, or even hallucinogenic. Finally, rounding out the settlement is a large watering hole, which is where everyone who passes through ends up eventually. Not rich, but rich enough to be able to afford the odd bottle of Wildsnake when one comes on offer. Otherwise people make do with Second Best, the local home brews mostly being sold off-premises.
One way, or another, I'm going to find you, I'll get you, I'll get you!

Heading deeper away from those whispers and those purge filled eyes Salyandra had enough control over her own body twisted as it is from it's previous state to know when to leave and how to get there, she makes off with whatever she can grab unfortunately for her creds wasn't one of them, a massive sword in her hand a cloaking robe to hide herself and a shiny bolter, polished and cleaned daily if only so it wouldn't break on her. She keeps out of the thong of human traffic sticking to herself and making her way towards the that news of a wiped out gang, if a gang was wiped out and she got there fast, her new powers and her weapons could see her keeping it, if only because the other gangers would see it too much of an unknown to come against her.

remaining alone she heads deeper and deeper into the underhive until she finds Platinum Fall, her eyes scan her surroundings, the alien pupils looking at each person living their with disgust like her they should except chaos in only a short span of time she had killed men far stronger than her and torn her way from bindings and steel doors. She was a being of pure power now, the creature within her sharing her body to coexist in this material realm merely spoke of doing it's lord's will, it never took over her again after it first entered perhaps she just didn't let her guard down it it didn't want to be the pilot for the mundane side of her existence either way she had control and makes her way to the bar, if a gang holds up in a place like this a gang would naturally be a good front. Walking into the bar her bolter in one hand her sword sheathed on her back as she looks around her hooded appearance giving her a sense of mystery and the weapons and horns adding a sense of malice and danger to her.

Lyz sits in an alleyway staring at the map pointing out her location based upon the local markings and shop names on the side of the map. Her bag on her back containing possibly a change of clothes, some water, and a little bit to nibble on. She missed her adoptive father and the few friends she had whilst she was under his arms. She looks around in her cloak that hides her physical skin disorder so that many people would not question whether to kill her or not. She sighs and looks back up at the walls around her feeling once again alone but slightly unfamiliar as her good years have tarnished her comfortableness with the darkness of the streets.

She gets up and goes towards a street and looks around peeking her head out just around the corner watching out for those so called bastardizing nobles called "Spyrers" She makes sure the coast is clear before she pops out of the alleyway to continue her walk down the street towards her destination, ____________ <-- platinum falls?

She stops at the bar labeled on the map in platinum falls and decides to go in to save her water supply. She walks up to the bar stool and plops down. With her parched dry mouth she says "i'll have one of water please"

Salyandra watches as Lyz wanders past her towards the bar, her eyes scanning the rest of the bar as the man goes to charge her for the drink. Smirking she takes a second hand to her bolter and takes aim, her eyes scanning the woman. armed, unlike everyone else she had seen here, the daemon within her smiling at her train of thought before she fires, sending the bolt into the barman.

As the bolts hits the ammo activates the micro explosive within creating a large creator in the man's chest, opening him up in front of everyone in the bar. "Enjoy your drink." She calls over to Lyz with a smirk before she makes her way behind the bar, lifting the bolter onto her shoulder looking at the rest of the patrons as if to see if anyone was going to act up as she steps over the corpse.

Roman stared at the empty bottle on his table. He was currently sitting inside the only bar in the little shithole that was Platinum Falls. He had recently arrived here, the settlement itself being another stop in his search for new work. He had broken off with his old crew after his frakhead boss botched an operation and tried to blame him for it. Roman naturally had took exception to that which had sparked a violent argument that ended with a dead ganger and Roman looking for a new boss. At this point, Gorlaith ganger was not even sure if he really wanted to join another crew and start taking orders from another incompetent frakhead but sadly, life was not cheap. Food, shelter and ammo cost money and while his earnings from his last job would last him a while, Roman knew it was better to have a source of income as soon as possible rather than wait for his hard earned creds to dry out.

It was why he was travelling all over the lower hive since there was always a demand for guys with weapons and muscles. He just needed to find an acceptable employer... or become his own boss. Hah! That was a good thought, running his own crew, not having to give shit about any upper management. Sadly, to do that, he needed money, weapons and underlings. Getting the last two was easy as long as you had the first. Sadly, Roman didn't, which caused the ganger to sigh in resignation before leaving his table and making his way towards the bar.

Only to witness halfway a shifty looking gal put a round in the guy tending to the bar, making him reflexively reach for his own boltgun. For a moment, Roman thought this was the start of another firefight except the lack of reaction from other patrons made it clear there wasn't going to be one. It was at this point that Roman realized how poor and shitty Platinum Falls was. Still wary of the person who just offed another guy for no reason, Roman approached the bar, wary and alert.

"So i am guessing it is either free drinks or this is the most hilarious and sad takeover i have ever witnessed. Either way, that guy you just offed owed me a bottle of wildsnake along with a bottle of ice water. If you would kindly pass me those, that would be great." Roman said in a relaxed drawl, hiding his suspicion and wariness with one hand on his boltgun, ready to draw and shoot in the case ms.Shifty decides to add him to her headcount.

Lyz sits there awaiting for her drink. She glances at the woman with the bolter and hides deeper into her hood. To herself she thinks "Oh my god... it's a spyrer maybe... please leave me alone please please please please" She reaches out for the drink and grabs it right before Salyandra blasts the bartender. This splatter blood all over her cloak considering he was right in front of her. She jumps back and splashes some water on herself. Her drink wasn't contaminated as it was in a small bottle and she looks at it before looking up slightly in disgust and rage at having her new hood covered in filth and it was only her third day. Her hood only allows her eyes to be seen as her respirator allows for coverage of her face.

She looks at the woman standing there with the bolter already unsheathed before deciding it was better to not take out her meltagun in self defense. If the spyrer wanted, she'd already be on the floor looking up at the ceiling just like the bartender. She sits back down and opens the bottle and wipes the top with part of her cloak since it was already dirty on the outside.

She shivers as the woman talks to her regretting ever looking at her. "Thanks" she says quietly and it was muffled with her respirator. She decides to close the bottle because she didn't want Salyndra or anyone else to notice she was a creation of Nurgle's horny followers.

She looks at the person that just walked up to the bar to dare demand something from the crazy psychopath that just decided to off the bartender

She smirks a little it felt so good to kill again a feeling the daemon agreed with as she places herself behind the bar. Looking at the two she chuckles her tri horns visible to them before looking around the bar and nodding a little. "No problem." She comments back to Lyz before grunting at Roman. "I didn't have the creds to buy myself a drink." She comments before grabbing a bottle of second and handing it to Roman as well as a water before doing the same for herself and gulping back the water. "Want a beer?" She asks Lyz, her voice slightly off as if something was different about her vocal chords to make it so.

Roman looked at the bottle second rate alcohol given to him, then at the Ms.Murder, noticing her horns and overall creepiness, before shrugging, grabbing the two bottles and going back to his table. He really didn't want to deal with a psychotic mutant over some so little. He had gotten his free drink and that was good enough for him. Instead, Roman resolved to get the fuck out of this place as soon as he finished his own drink. He didn't want spend anymore time than necessary under the same roof as an Emperor damned mutant. As he popped the cap of his new bottle of drink, his thoughts strayed back to his earlier idea of starting a gang. While he didn't have money, Platinum Falls wasn't exactly a wealthy place either. He supposed he could recruit underlings with promises of food and safety, arm them with whatever at hand then take over the settlement. He knew there were more weapons then food or coin around the underhive, shouldn't be too hard to get some second hand stubber guns and pistols. Then slowly work his way up until he had a reliable crew and a steady source of income before making his way up on the food chain.

Lyz looks at the horns and ponders about whether or not to take off her mask. Looking at the drink against she pulls down the mask. Her pale skin and bluish lips clearly showing off her Zombie Plague infection. Her skin sunken towards her bones. She was about to take a sip of water before the Spyrer offers her beer. She looks up and with her hood pulled back to take a sip of her drink, she reveals her face to Salyndra. Her red eyes light up and she grabs the beer. She opens it immediately and takes a swing of it before placing it down. "ughhhhh..." she moans in ecstasy "I haven't had one of these in aaagggeesess" she says with her breathing mask dangling around her neck. She shrinks up when not drinking so less people would notice her.

Nodding she sips the beer and groans a little. "Same really." She comments calmly her hand putting the bottle back down on the counter top. "What brings you to this forgotten hell of Hive Primus?" She asks her fellower drinker, she doesn't gasp or even make any motion that she is shocked by Lyz's appearance, she after all had literally nothing to say on that matter after her transformation. She waits and listens to Lyz's reply before speaking herself. "I'm bored an heard this place got cleared out of gangers making it rather... open." She states with a smirk.

Not wanting so say her look, she responds "I'm looking for some quiet... somewhere to feel like home" She pokes her head out from her mask and takes another sip of the semi bitter liquid feeling her blood rushing again. She places her mask back on and lays her head on the table kind of tired and finding the heat of the room more comfortable than the cold streets of the underhive. Her fingers tracing the top of the bottle like she was playing a little game with herself. She slaps her hand on the table begins tapping.

"Well, good luck on getting your place." Lyz says looking up before slumping into her arms looking at the blood slowly spread across the floor turning it a crimson red. The smell of blood reaching her nose doesn't really bother her much. She tosses the bottle cap and watches as it plops onto the tender's body sliding down into his pool of blood with a small tap when it reaches there.

Nodding she smirks and looks around the bar, her eyes settling on Roman for a moment. "Yeah, you see unfortunately to keep it I'd need a little help... and both you and him looked armed enough for it to be clear you're not like the rest of the underhivers that litter this place." She comments gesturing around before sipping her drink again. "There's this bar, the homes... and that cave... looks like it has mushrooms inside." She comments calmly before looking at Lyz dead in the eyes, well not really her hood hides her own but it feels like she is staring at Lyz's own. "I know what I am here for... Best way to stay alive down here is with a group, otherwise you're just waiting for gangers to come around take what little you have and kill you." She comments calmly before looking at Roman. "Take him... he's not like the others either. armed clearly confident enough to walk up to the bar after I killed the bartender." she comments calmly.

It's not that working in a house factorium is bad, but it's incredibly unsatisfiing, boring and it's dead-end existence. Joining an underhive gang is dangerous, but exciting, and, if you're lucky, a good way to riches. House Van Saar does have "gangs" in their services doing more interesting things, like all the houses, but not one of them seemed interested in Aloris' help. Fine, she'll look for some unafflicted group, perhaps she'll learn something that wouldn't be possible in her house.

When she finally reaches her destination of Platinum Falls, she's not impressed. However, it's better than nothing. Her first stop would be the pub. After opening the door, she reaches for her laspistol. Some kind of horned mutant, obviously fresh corpse and blood splatter behind the bar, everyone is armed... Though as it doesn't seem anyone intends to keep shooting, she doesn't draw and continues inside, though she stays wary. Yes, this place certainly doesn't look boring.

Lyz looks up and around at the bar again now noticing that many people were unarmed unlike back in her old neighborhood. She looks at Roman and cocks her head. Strange... he prefers to be in a corner by himself than in the company of someone who might snap and kill him at any moment. Lyz shudders at the thought of Salyndra suddenly having another outburst and looks back. "Cave?" she asks before pulling out her map to look at it to see where this said cave was. "Where?" she asks suddenly taking interest in the place. Caves were rare in the underhive considering no outside contact was allowed? (MAYBE... NOT SURE)

She suddenly snaps around and stares at the person who slammed the door open. "Does she count too?" she asks Salyndra turning around slightly to look at her from beneath her hood and mask. She holds onto her beer and feels like it would be a good weapon to use for whatever reason.

Looking at her she shrugs a little before glancing over to the new comer. "Yeah..." She smirks a little, glancing around she looks over at Roman, Aloris then finally back to Lyz who was in front of her. "the cave is off to the side form what i can tell, take a look outside and you'll see it but i doubt it's that deep." She comments before looking around. "Hey you two." She calls over to Roman and Aloris. "Come over here for a second got an idea you could help with." She states calmly, gesturing them over as she places her bolter on the counter top as if to show she wasn't going to use it. "Everyone else." she states looking at the underhivers. "Bar's closed get out!" She screams her inner daemon literally adding to the menace in her voice as it gives her tone an almost alien and monstrous sound.

Roman turns her head towards Salyandra at her request, debating for a moment to either listen her out or not. Surprisingly, arguments in favor of listening outnumbered those that were not. Sure, the woman was probably a mutant and pretty dangerous one at that with how she acted but she was somewhat sanish and chances of her getting violent with him was low and even if she did, Roman himself was more than capable of defending himself. Roman also did not have anything better to do and nothing to lose by just hearing her out as he could always say no if he didn't like what he heard.

"What the heck, at the least, i owe her for the booze if nothing else, even if it is this second rate shit that tastes piss rather than a proper drink." Roman thought before he he stood up form his table once more and made his way to the bar.

Lyz analyzes the map and nods. THe cave was indeed marked on her map by a small dot. She turns around in her bar chair looking in the direction that Salyndra points her in. She stares at the bolter being placed on the table and instinctively reaches for her own now that there was less of a chance to get blasted whilst reaching for it. That was until Salyndra started yelling. She shrinks into her chair as the loud demonic voice blasts in her ears as she was the closest to her.

She winces in a bit of pain not used to the loud voices of people screaming like that so close to her. "Ahh!" she gasps her hands slowly going for her head as her ears are practically ringing. "Ow" she says looking back up at Salyndra rubbing her ears before turning to Roman striding towards them.

So... she just entered and she's immediately invited to... something? This place is weird. Still, it would be a mistake to miss an opportunity to build closer ties to the locals, even if one of them is clearly dangerous mutant. But this is the Underhive, who here ISN'T dangerous, Aloris herself included? She closes with the others noticing the map in front of the hooded woman. "All right, I'm here. What is this about?" Still wary, Aloris doesn't take her hand from the grip of her pistol.

Salyandra waits for them all to gather before rolling her eyes at Lyz. Now the four of them gathered at the bar Salyandra gives them a look over as if measuring them for a purpose before nodding a little to herself. "Alright." She looks down at the dead bartender. "Consider I'm looking at the only other 3 people armed in this little corner of the underhive." She comments giving them a chance to figure that part to be true. "This place got cleared of the last gang to have any stake in it meaning no one is going to come looking if someone decides that perhaps they'd like to take over." She states allowing that thought to linger in the air for a moment or two.

"There's a cave full of shrooms, I have a bar and a bunch of passive sheep living nearby. what I am suggesting is we team up, make a lot of creds and make sure we keep them by working together. I don't care to be in charge." pointing at her horns. "Besides leaders kinda need to be seen and I'd prefer to stay as hidden as possible." She states giving them a hard look and waiting to see what they say. "pimp the girls out nearby, cut and sell the shrooms for creds, we have a bar for steady creds. We already have the weapons, simply a matter of putting it into action and fighting of those that would want to take it, I already made a statement to the sheep that someone is clearly back in charge."

"Your idea is interesting. This shithole has potential i will give you that but i think you are overestimating just how valuable it is. First of all, there isn't much wealth in this place. It's main revenue is probably generated exclusively by the local establishments with locals also being the main customers since this place is pretty much forgotten or ignored by the rest of the hive. Problem is locals living in settlements like these don't possess much wealth or earn much themselves to spend and i bet they have been getting poorer over the years. Even if we take control of the whole settlement, the income it will generate will be only a trickle which will only lessen and dry up with time." Roman said before he took a sip from his bottle of second rate beer.

"That said, it doesn't mean that this place is hopeless. With some investment, we can revitalize the economy of the settlement, enrich the locals and their establishments and in return make more money ourselves thanks to the increased income. Problem here is that we not only need to invest but also babysit those investments to make sure they succeed. Meaning we will have to spend money in short them for a long term gain. This wouldn't be a problem if we were already in possession of a stable source of income ourselves. Unfortunately we don't and what is worse is we are going to have to spend more money to arm, armor and pay for underlings we will have to recruit to help us keep our control over this place and also aid us in our operations. This means we need a source of income that will be cheap to establish and will yield profits quick." Roman stopped talking to let his words sink in along with the fact that yes, he was also a knowledgeable businessman and economist. Then he turned to Salyandra.

"I believe you said something about a cave full of mushrooms? If we are lucky, maybe there grows some types which we can farm to make drugs which we can sell at other parts of the hive. It should be cheap enough to hire some locals to help with production and drugs can bring good amount of money depending on the quality of the product. We still need to identify which types of mushrooms are there first and find someone who knows how to turn those into drugs but that shouldn't be too hard." Roman finished his lecture/analyze, having destroyed any image of him as a dumb muscle like how a priest of the ecclesiarchy destroys the anus of a choir boy.
