And you're good to go! I will have a story-teller comment on the story from the sidelines to give it a better 'feel' to it. It's a bit of an experiment, so bear over with me. Also, this post presumes you have already read about The Village and the setting!
Storyteller:
The arrival of new citizens to The Village wasn't strange. It was how and why The Village was constructed in the first place. This day was no exception. Three people bumped through the rift in the welcoming hall, and all of the nearby villagers hurried over to them to help them get clothed. It had long ago been decided to place hay around the rift, even though some of that said hay disappeared into The Void now and then, but they eagerly replaced it day after day. This was to make sure people wouldn't smash their butt, or at worst, their head, right into the stone floor of the welcoming hall.
Let me tell you just who it was that flew through this rift. Just who it was, that is now able to continue to age - for one doesn't age in The Void.
Saeki. A female Aerenheika from a far away dimension. Her people being bestowed with magic, she is no different. When it was she was banished is unknown, for time moves by its own will in The Void. Why she was banished? I'll make it short. To attest of the faith of her mother to a local minor deity, Saeki was 'sacrificed' into The Void, not knowing if her daughter would make it or not. Selfish? Who knows. Such details are not for me to know.
Rushing over to Saeki's aide was a young woman; Seemingly much younger than herself. She had the weirdest green hair-color, and gray generic clothes that barely seemed to pack any heat. In her hands was a similar piece of clothing. "Welcome to Ateria..."; She almost whispered. It was probably gods gift that no one seemed to be affected by Saeki's inherent powers... (Luck roll; 6 for initiation. Nothing was initiated.)
Ahriman. A male figure who's existence have long been forgotten by most. Compared to The Void where there was no gravity, Ahriman can now once again feel the weight of his immense soul. The shift from having no weight to weighing more than what felt like a tonne made him cough up blood, his breathing troubled by the need to actually use his lungs against the ever-persistent gravity; For not even breathing is needed in The Void. (Luck roll; 4 for initiation, 10 for effect; Effect = -1 temporary constitution. Trait used: Damaged. )
When the blood flung out of Ahrimans mouth, three male and one females rushed over to his side. "Get Hejiel!"
It was rare for people to simply cough up blood for no good reason, so most were alert. Last time a similar event had happened, it was because a man was banished while dying into The Void; Once going into a dimension where time passes normally, the fatal blow from before he was banished continued being as fatal as it had been then. They didn't want another dead person from The Void lying in the welcoming hall. Such events depresses people who have once been in The Void; For they all know of the hope that comes true when entering through a rift.
Caesle. A female Auk from yet another dimension vastly unlike this one. With an aquatic elegance and webbed hands, the Auk can easily be said to have ties to underwater races in their evolutionary past, no matter how that evolution may have happened. With a broken vision, she's forced to use her magic to see an image of the surrounding world. While doing this, a lot of other things can be perceived. The most noisy of these perceptions, was the perceptions of the nearby magical energy. It was almost dense enough to be seen instead of sensed with her extrasensory eye... Who or what could it be coming from?
While seeming somewhat distracted by the floor, a young boy with a stick in his hand walked over to Caesle and looked almost surprised when he saw her. "Woaaah! She doesn't have fingers!"; Clearly, the web connecting Caesle's fingers have caught his attention more than her naked skin. An older woman approached her and laughed gently. "She does, dear."; she knelt closer to Caesle with some generic gray clothes that seems like that of a vagabonds attire. "It's all we can offer."; The lady said while reaching out to give Caesle the clothes.
Is this just three new adventurers to perish or cherish in this world like anyone else, or will they change Ateria? Chances are they won't - but, I've been wrong before. Between them may be the next savior. The one who will kill the local threat; The local menace; The local devil... For hope is ever-lasting for The Void people. This is their one common trait... Well, mostly.
