Canan shakes her head at the shop keep, more than mildly embarrassed. "Nope, that's it from me. Just got lost in my head for a second." In order to avoid further humiliation she practically runs out the door in pursuit of Opal in order to take up the quest.

Gene, seeing the paladin going all out decided it was a good a time as any to throw a swing of his own into the mix. Taking a 5 foot step to the side of the rat, trying to flank it, he brought his axe down while keeping his guard up, ready for trouble.

"Not at all, thank you for your time" Korvus said, giving a short bow to the woman before leaving, following the half-Orc with his arms behind his back, humming a small tune to himself as he thought things over. With the 4 of them looking together, it would be a good idea to stay in a close group in case whatever the creature that poisoned the man decided to attack

"We'll do what we can." Ash leaves the shop last, following the others. While it's hardly what she trained for, she can't wait to go on her first real adventure, even if it doesn't sounds very heroic.

Once Hektor had obtained the guard captain's secondary approval to leave he carefully slid out of his chair and made his way outside. Esmeralda seemed very confident in this RIchards fellow. But was he an actual informant, or just a clumsy worker that had some how tipped off that he worked with the smugglers. Or was he a drunk that bragged about it to the wrong people at the wrong time. In any case this Richards would be hard to trust. Hektor was a bit nervous about confronting Richards, if he did have trouble keeping his mouth shut then he was sure that his stature would come up in conversation sooner or later and half the docks would be on the lookout for the tattooed halfling. Ready to get to work Hektor retrieved his pony, saddled up, and waited for the other three members to make their way outside.

Listening intent to those around her but keeping her focus purely on the captain she smiles at her sizing the woman up with a small smile. "yes I believe one of my colleagues seems to of been lax with his funds. So I must ask for the absence of minded one if you would be willing to put a portion of the reward upfront?" She smiles putting up a look of obvious embarrassment for having to request such and making no attempt at how asking for such a favor troubles the Sorceress. "If not I do understand Just better to ask and know than don't and wonder." She shoots the Corvan a glance and a shake of her head before turning back to the captain. "I could do something specifically for you in return for this obvious favor you'd be granting as well." she flashes the woman a smile and a hopeful look.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

(Meeps = 25, Albedo = 20, Rat = 15, damn) As the Rat reared it's head, ready to use it's most powerful attack, it felt Gene's blade stab it in the neck and Del's blade finishing the job and slicing it's head off, spewing blood everywhere before it died finally. The deed is done!

Del smirked and cleared her blade of any gore and blood and moved on. "Nonesense, rats could never pose a threat to me. Disgusting rodents can be a problem even for royalty, but for me? No problem at all." She claimed proudly. Confidence was never a problem for her that was for sure. "Now, let's go save a life!" With that she exited the basement and informed the building s owner and placed a gold piece on the bar for'em. "There's a bit of a mess down there and I am in a hurry. I hope this gold will redeem my recklessness." She had intended to take them out cleanly but that last rat was big and made a mess. With that she would attempt to make her way to the apothecary to see if the job was still available.

Opal noticed just about everyone else had left roughly moments after she had, "Well, I didn't expect that, but are you all prepared to go to the forest? I do not intend to return until we have everything we need." After saying this she would wait for any replies before moving on.

While she herself has not said anything, Yuki has been listening intently on the conversation...and something about the guard captain feels...off. Call it a gut feeling if you must, but she's started paying more attention to the captain's mannerisms, body language, and so forth, in case she gives away any telltale signs of ulterior motives. Usually, city guards are too caught up in their honor codes and such to try any underhanded tactics. Sometimes, however, you have that militia leader who eschews most of those codes, and offs most mercenary aid as a way of cleaning up any loose ends. While she much prefers to not have any concerns about it in the first place, if anyone's planning to hoodwink Yuki, she'd want to know ahead of time...and woe be to anyone plotting such a scheme...

Gene barely has time to enjoy the quick victory before the paladin goes running off. He hopes they found all the rats for sure before rushing up the stairs, clanking loudly as he goes. he rushes through the main room of the inn, just barely seeing Del give her piece to the owner before dashing for the door. He gives a friendly wave to the owner before following the giant paladin through the door and toward the alchemist. "I'm right behind you, friend!" he calls doing his best to not create a massive racket as they move to their destination.

Venus looks at the 3 goblins on the road. She pouts and brings out her shield for some protection in case things got hairy. She cowers behind it and stares at them. She stares at them inquisitively wanting to know what they wanted from her. She also notices the large man that was stalking her behind her doing nothing. If anything he would probably be the first target considering he was wide open

Corven rolled his eyes as Vorel used his fabricated poverty as an excuse to try getting some money upfront. It certainly was a good reason to use but it was beginning to irk him a bit how often everyone thought he was poor. He'd have to clear that up later as a matter of pride. But for now he'd listen to her talk. He made a conscious effort to not fidget as he waited for the conversation to end. It wasn't that he didn't enjoyed negotiating but he still felt stiff from the boat ride wanted to get the blood flowing again, not stand around.

@Canan, Opal, Ash, Korvus, Del, and Gene
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

As the four of you prepare to move into the forest, two more are seen running up to the apothecary, they were the two from before, whom took on the rat job. They must have finished sooner than anyone thought and were coming to help more than likely. It's possible to give them the rundown and they can help find the herbs and possibly help fight the monster that may or may not be lurking in the forest.

@Vorel, Yuki, Corven
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

(Captain Rolls 27) The Guard Captain looked over at Corvus and then back at Vorel, "He doesn't seem to be broke, looks like he's able to defend for himself, if he needed money to help him he'd have asked." She said and then heard the other suggestion and she smiled, (Vorel rolled 21 against Captains 20) "Well, since you've suggested it...what do you have in mind?" She asked, leaning in now, wanting to hear what she would do for her in exchange for part of the deal up front.

@Hektor
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Nothing seems to happen outside, other than the people of the town going about their business. You do see two people running from the Inn to the Apothecaries though, which was an eyebrow raiser, but then again maybe they got done with something and were on their way to do something else.

@Venus
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

the Goblins let out a shriek of excitement at catching someone and began their attack (Goblins rolled 9, Venus get's 12) But since she was prepared, Venus gets to move and/or attack first(Since Dude didn't post, I won't wait for him, when he comes on then I'll roll for him and add him to the attack, otherwise, if he doens't show up by the end of battle, you'll be doing this quest by yourself.)

Venus jumps to the one closest to the side of the road. She slices and cowers behind her shield constantly waiting for the goblin to take the bait tha she was a coward and was going to continue hiding behind her shield for the duration of the battle. She makes sure she stays away from the other two so she isn't ganged up on from all sides

Hektor's patients quickly runs thin during his wait outside on horseback. Deciding to wait no longer for the other three adventurers on the same task, Hektor sets off towards the docks to find out more about Richards.

OOC
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Going to ask around at the docks for a few hours using Diplomacy (+9) to gather information on Richards before confronting him.

Ash doesn't pay much attention to newcomers, reasoning that four of them should be enough to find the herbs and defend themselves from whatever lurks in the forest. Sure the fight would be safer with more numbers on her side, but from the apothecary's perspective, it will mean either to give reward to more people, or to divide already agreed upon potions between six people instead of four. Ash wouldn't mind that much, but her companions may disagree.

Opal didn't pay much attention to the two extra people, from what she had gathered there was a person in need of help and if they took too long the person might end up dying. Rather than wait she kept on her path torwards the forest without any signs of stopping. She wasn't really interested in the reward but she knew if they took too long they wouldn't get anything for this.

Delphine approaches the group hunting for the herbs and hurries up to keep pace. "I would like to personally thank you all for helping the apothecary owner save a life.." She said clearly and loud enough to be heard by the whole group. "Strength in numbers and all that."

"Indeed, though perhaps we should also be wary, we haven't the faintest clue whether or not whatever the poison came from worked alone" Korvus said calmly as he walked with the group to the forest, his hands behind his back, glancing at his fellow companions as if mentally gauging their strength
