Sorry for the late reply. It's sort of a hectic week for me.
Luckily for Nova it seems everyone else are at least decent runners, but a little unlikely is that the two guards of their group are currently running ahead. Honestly a smart move on a individual level, but maybe not the best move as a unit. Then again however they were hardly all buddy buddy yet, the their weapons would be hard to use until the sand sharks breached the sand. Her chains though? Perhaps... if she was smart about it.
As she runs she lowers her speed a little bit, taking a position a rear as she wraps on her chains around her right arm and holds the other in loops with her left hand. She starts to run in quick zig zag patterns, hoping the quick movement and the dense nature of the sand might limit the turning of the sand sharks. An action that seems to work as the closest sand shark presses forward slightly. She swaps directions quickly, watching in the corner of her eye as the creature shifts to track her, but isn't able to turn as quickly as she can. With a simple graceful movement she pirouettes on one foot, spinning in place and letting the chain in her right hand swing wide. The chain clinks nosily at first as it extends, then goes taught as the swing speeds up, the manacle at the end moving with enough force to tear flesh if used against another human. It smashes into the side of sand sharks dorsal fin, making the limb jar to the right as she scraps a layer of scales off, not causing any dire damage, but as the swing suddenly veers away from her and moves in a random motion Nova is satisfied she caused it some pain or discomfort of some kind. "
So it's fins are more sensitive? At least the top one maybe...", she muses as she finishes her spin and catches the rest of the chain, quickly going back to running.
She zig zags a few more times before they make it to the rocks, the sand sharks all seeming to swap directions a little with each movement, but aiming ahead of her as if to cut her off and intercept her. With her randomly changing directions though the rest don't make enough ground to catch up to them, sand still proving to be quite a bit thicker then water despite the way they seem to swim through it. As everyone scrambles toward the building though one suddenly breaches the sand and tries to scramble up the rock, it's dozens of odd wolf paw like feet struggling for purchase on the stone as its move back and forth like snake or, more aptly, a fish out of water. With her chain already swinging above her head she cuts it off and soon starts smashing it in the side of the head over and over, back stepping with each strike as her left hand is prepared to throw the spare chain into it's hellish mouth the moment it dares to open it. Eventually though she seems to smash a hole in it's scales after a half dozen strikes, and then the creature backs off, knowing when to call it quits. It back slides and dives back into the sand, quickly swimming away.
Nova watches for a few moments to see what they would do, but is pleased they choose to retreat completely rather then circle the area. She sucks in a deep breathe after all the exertion, her chest heaving a little as she gathered up the chain. When she gets it close though she notices the few speckles of blood she managed to draw on the manacle, and suddenly finds herself getting a short head rush. "Woo... post fight jitters. Nothing new girl. The stakes are final out here after all. Only normal.", she says to herself, then walks back up the rock toward the building where the others were with a confident sway in her step. "I scared 'em off hopefully...", Nova says, twirling her the end of improvised chain weapon with her right hand. "Can we actually get in this building?", she then asks.
