Unguarded Guardians (IC) Part 2

Dax followed Sort through the crowd amid glares from the people around him which quickly stopped upon noticing Sort's staff. He didn't like this at all. This list of crimes was horrendous why would anyone do all of this? He asked himself sadly as they made their way to the front of the crowd and he viewed their faces solemn and ready. They had accepted their own fate. Then he saw why. No criminals looked this ready to die. Not when they knew what they did was wrong. The paraded the man behind it all and listed the final charges and then he knew. They were no criminals, they were allies. He spotted the cloaked man tampering with gallows and he suddenly thought he could be helping. They were already going to die after all so why do it overkill? He bumped Sort's elbow,"Sort. We need to help these people. They can help and we will have someone helping us out instead of remaining alone!" He said this all quietly in his ear being careful to let no one else hear it but his voice carried the urgency.

Spotting the cloaked men shifting through the crowds, Victor slowly paces along the rim of the crowd, trying to get a better look at the men's movement patterns. If they're planning what he fears they are, then Sort and Dax are in very grave danger...and he's not about to let that go unchecked. Unfortunately, the crowd itself would impede his combat style too much against such opponents, so if it comes to intervening with a blade, his best option may indeed be to make some noise to scatter the crowd, while keeping civilian casualties as nonexistent as possible.

Before doing any of that, however, Victor whispers to Nyx: "Something's off about those guys...I'm moving in for a better look. If I get discovered, be ready for anything."

After being pointed to the nearest rooftop, Lilia shifts around a less open part of it and jumps up onto it, ignoring the ladder completely, trying to see as much as she can from the best vantage point possible. She tunes out the list of crimes the magistrate is reading off since, frankly, they just don’t interest her, though it does put her on the lookout for accomplices to bust the criminals out. Sure enough, there’s 12 shadowy people at the very least making their way through the crowd and 2 on the roof to rain arrows down. She’s about to slip over to put the archers out of commission when she hears the climax of the magistrate’s little rant: He’s another one of those pro-human, necromancer-affiliated assholes trying to bleed her dry. So she instead holds her position out of the eyes of everyone and watches, waiting to see if she can stir up some trouble for the necromancers.

The Stage is Set:

Sort gave Dax a sly smile as he pointed to the cloaked person at the gallows support beam. He had tied a rope to it and was shifting his way back out of the crowd.
"Now, why would you tie a rope to a strong and heavy piece of wood? The only answer I can think of, is that you want to move it., and moving that particular piece of wood, will bring the whole gallows down. It looks like these rebels are planning their own jail break my friend. I am going to stay close to our neko brother up there, you get back to Vic and Nyx and let them know, that a fight is coming. I have no problem showing my power here in a town square, but you guys may or may not want to get involved in this. There are two necromancers nearby that I know of, though I can't say if there are or are not any more. Just be ready to scramble into the city when everything goes down, just in case it all goes down hill."
Sort then walked forward right up next to the gallows, the guards were unable to notice him through the crowd, as he git in position almost directly under where the trap doors were.
As Victor moved into the crowd to spy on the cloaked figures, he noticed one carrying a rope tied to something deeper into the crowd. The man made his way out of the crowd, and to a team of four horses, harnessed together. The man then tied the rope so all four horses could pull it. A guard happened to notice this and walk toward the figure asking questions. The figure walked forth holding his hands out speaking apologies, as a nother figure came up behind the guard and slit his throat before dumping him into a nearby hay stack.
"Quick, we don't have time for this, get those horses moving before the rest of the necromancers come back. This is the only chance we have."
The figure with the blade told the other as he got the horses ready. They had not seen Victor yet, though they might unless he takes some sort of action. Lilia was able to see this all from her vantage point, though this was not the only thing happening. The cloaked figures were taking the guards out quickly and quietly wherever they could, without being noticed. They were able to cut the guards down to half strength, fortunately. As she could see they were planning on tearing down the gallows, though she couldn't make out what part of the gallows the rope was connected to.
The Magistrate had finished shouting his propaganda and now stood back as two people, clad in the typical dark purple robes of necromancers came up on the gallows and shouted to all, that they were going to take the souls of these rebels and show them the true meaning of punishment. They bragged about their superiority, and their power and how none could oppose their rule for several more minutes, before the hangman walked over to the trap door trigger.

Dax nodded to Sort and waited around for a moment before saying to him at the mention of the necromancers,"Cut them down." Was all he said but it was quite clear what he meant with the hate in his eyes. These people had done so much evil and that he could not stand for. Now though he needed to warn Victor and Nyx. He headed back through the crowd shaking his as if he was disappointed in the actions of the criminals as he headed towards Victor and said to him,"The cloaked people are friends. Help em out and get ready to run into the city. Sort has a plan to help em out."

Seeing that the cloaked figures are obviously allies and not enemies, Victor heaves a sigh of relief. Quickly realizing that those men will likely hear said sigh, he decides to make it clear that he's friendly, should they think he's another guard.

Stepping out to where they can see him, he puts his hands up in an "I mean you no harm" posture, and says: "Relax. The Necros are my enemy, too." He keeps his voice at a volume that the cloaked men can hear, but one the people at the execution grounds cannot. "Just get those horses moving. My friends will take care of the rest."

Seeing Dax move up to inform him of Sort's plan, Victor can't help but think (Speaking of friends...) Walking up and hearing Dax out, he replies: "Alright, but you take the lead on that. I'll head back and relay this to Nyx."

Making good on his word, Victor quickly and quietly makes his way back to where Nyx is, and says: "Things are about to get messy here. When they do, our orders are to make for the city's interior." Truth be told, Victor has some disapproval of that plan. He'd personally prefer to strike down the Necros where they stand...but he also knows the situation too well for that. Until their group can obtain the gods' full blessing, they should keep their profile low; word of their little escapade back in that camp may have reached this town by now, which would make them high-priority targets for the law-enforcement puppets their enemy has in place.

That said, he's sticking with Nyx when they do make that run for the city, so he can help protect her against any pursuing foes. He's the one with magical abilities, which gives him greater combat ability over distance...though, he won't use said powers unless he has to.

Lilia makes a small sound of satisfaction and smiles as she notices the cloaked men taking down guards without raising the alarm. She's impressed by the way they move and how efficient they are and half wonders if they're in the same profession as her as they set things up to tear down the gallows. Then the two wearing the purple she's come to associate with necromancers (a shame about that since purple was one of her favorite colors), she decides to reveal herself to the archers. Slipping quietly behind them, she whispers, "You're going to want to aim for the purple ones. The guards can become an annoyance to your plans, but the necromancers can absolutely fuck it up with their magic. You're likely to only get one shot since they have an annoying habit of using shields that have to be broken using light magic if you do follow my advice." Then she takes out Red Wind and prepares to funnel enough Wind Magic to extend it as far as she needs to to help things out. Not yet though. She doesn't know the magic sensing abilities of her enemies, so to prepare it now would be foolish.

Well the people that Zan had spoken to nearly jumped out of their skin at seeing him, same for the people Lilia spoke to. Though the people Lilia spoke to, gave her the benefit of the doubt as she pointed out the Necromancers. The people Zan spoke to drew their blades, but upon seeing Dax paused. Dax's neko appearance, made them think for a moment, as no neko would be helping the magistrate or his minions. The questions were cut short however as he magistrate gave the order to hang the people. Their friends then quickly spun into action.
"If you and your neko friend want to help, then help us deal with the guards."
"Listen lady, I know what I'm doing. If you want to help, help us hold off the guards."
The men with the horses then started making the horses move. The trap doors on the gallows were pulled and the people began to dangle, but fortunately for them, the horses pulled the support beam off the gallows, causing in to fall down on one corner. This however, did not lower it enough for the people swinging, and the Necromancers now ran over to find out what was happening. They did not get the chance though, as a large blast of light energy blew up one side of the gallows as well as the beam all the ropes were tied around, knocking the necros back, and allowing all the people that were going to hang to hit the ground. The Necromancers quickly tried to recover, but Sort wasn't going to give them the chance.
Dax and Victor had their own battles ahead as three guards then charged forward to attack them. The people with the horses had already taken off and snuck into the crowd. Lilia on the other hand looked to her side and saw two guards approaching her, running over the roof tops.

Lilia gives a sigh and a shrug as the people disregard her advice. "Whatever. Don't say I didn't warn you." she says despite the fact that things are starting to get crazy. She's used to being in chaos, usually chaos she herself set off to make a diversion for herself, so as long as it doesn't hone in on her, she's fine. When she sees Sortaix blast the necromancers with light magic, thereby knocking over their shields, she sighs again. She doesn't bother to voice her suggest to focus on the necromancers again since it'd undoubtedly be ignored, but this would be the perfect time for them to stick an arrow in their throats while they're defenseless and disoriented. She'll just have to leave it to Sortaix to get it done then. Speaking of the chaos coming to her, she spots two guards coming her way.

"A girl's work is never done." she sighs, directing Red Wind at Guard #4. She funnels Wind Magic into it, then extends it as far as she can, intending to stab him in the throat while he's still some distance away.

Victor takes a cautious step back when the two men drew their blades, but thankfully, it seems Dax has authenticated their common goal. Given how the local authorities view non-humans, that makes sense, and he can't help but smirk as the execution procedure is given an impromptu cancellation. Of course, the guards rushing at them won't let him just sit back and enjoy it, so...

"Hmph...shall we, Dax?"

Without waiting for Dax's response, Victor unsheathes his own weapon, pointing Mjolnir at the guards, and bellowing: "Leap upon my blade now, for I will not be so gentle!" He then swings his sword at the guard closest to him, empowering it with a Raizangeki to increase its speed and force, potentially enough to cleave weapon and wielder in one swift stroke. Even if such an attack is blocked, the leftover electrical charge is not one they should meet with a weapon as conductive as a steel sword or spear...

Dax watched intently as the chaos began to unfold around them all spreading from the collapsed gallows and the citizens began to panic and flee and the guards rushed towards them,"Well then. I guess we shall Victor. Let's dance the dance of blades." Dax said with a small smile and let out his stone arm blade with a flick of his wrist and brought his shield up with one smooth motion."Its time to rock." He said with a grin at his own little joke as he brought up a shower or large pebbles which he then fired rapidly like a machine gun at the guard as yet still unengaged by Victor and followed it up quickly with a running slash across his chest.

Blue lets out a deepthroated hiss as he hits the ground. He then survey his surroundings. Atleast that's over with. he mutters to himself as the pain in his neck starts to fade. Now to find a way to get these bindings off. he quickly searches the ground for a splinter from the gallows and finds one half lying in a puddle. That'll do nicely. a small smile forming on his faces as he thinks of his luck today. Using his tail, he picks up the dry end of the splinter and uses the puddle water to form an ice blade on the other end. He then quickly cuts his bindings and takes the ice knife in his right hand. This will have to do. Atleast until I get my blades back. then he attempts to slip off to find the guard station and hopefully his weapons. Thinking of the things he'll do to the first guard to cross his path and a way to thank the people who saved his skin. As he sprints his way through the city he realizes that he doesn't have the slightest clue where any guard post is let alone the one he was detained in. So he stops in the middle of an intersection to gain his bearings. The sounds of combat and panic still echoing behind him, giving a clear indication of where he came from. He looks down each street with an ever increasing lost look on his face. Well damn...this is why I hate cities everything looks the same. he then walks over to the nearest wall to think over his current situation. Running the whole series of events that lead him here. The first attempt to take down the gallows was botched but the second...that had to be magic, magic he's never seen before but considering he's only seen water magic that's no surprise. Maybe his rescuers could show him alittle more magic that he could use and having some magically powered back up might save his scales from the guards and that's worth more than his old blades. He then walks back to the center of the intersection, facing toward the chaos he just left behind. He touches his collar for comfort and sighs. Wish me luck mother. Because I've got to be crazy for doing this! then lowers his head and sprints back to the town square. Gathering any water he passes and forming it into plates of ice on his arms and back

Center of Town Showdown: Sort and Blue

The explosion was a nice addition to the chaos of the execution. The people went running and one of the necromancer ended up, upside with his top half in a barrel. The other necromancer was nearly thrown a couple of feet and was picking himself up when he saw Sortaix.
"You'll pay for that, you filthy half-breed!"
The necromancer shouted in anger as he got up and helped his cohort. Sortaix simply responded to them, by howling out as wings of light formed from his back and his armor took upon a golden hue, as the light wrapped around him. In his hands a held a waraxe, and a sword, both made of light. The Necromancers took a few seconds to register this before they drew their weapons.
" Paladin! He's that f***ing paladin!"
The necros blasted Sort with magic, but the light surrounding him, simply held it off. Sort then charged his two enemies. The fight itself, only lasted a few minutes as the fighters hacked, slashed, blocked, and dodged. Sort then ended the fight as he swung around and behind one necromancer in time for his axe to take the others head off, before he swung around completely as his blade took the other necromancers head off. The sound of a roar was heard echoing through the sky as a large draco-lich landed down in the town square, dropping off a few guards, before heading back to where it came from. This thing was apparently being used as a transport due to its size. Sort was going to just blast them all with his magic, but he saw someone else charging into the fray, his magic told him the newcomer was using magic as well, so he decided to see what this guy was made of.
Blue was able to witness the battle between Sort and the two necromancers, as well as it's conclusion. The draco-lich however landed in between Blue and the mysterious stranger. However, the first thing Blue did notice as the guard that jumped down and pulled out two arm blades, that looked exactly like his, and in fact were. This guard saw Blue first then charged at him, while the others went after the other person.

The Dance of War: Dax and Victor

Dax's projectile attack on the guard he was after, caught the guard by surprise. He raised his hand up to block the pebbles, but many of them still hit him. This attack had little affect, but it did leave the guard open for Dax's cut, which broke open the guards armor, leaving him battered and now exposed, but ready to fight, as he gets his waraxe ready.(-30 health, chest armor gone) (-40 stamina).
Victor on the other hand, had a run of bad luck. His attack was blocked by his opponents blade, though the electrical charge did it's job and sent a big jolt into the guard. So, though the blade was blocked, the electrical charge hit the guard square in the chest, powerful enough to melt part of the chain mail, and make the guard jump back trying to rip it off.(-20 Health, Torso armor removed, opponent distracted.) (-40 stamina)

Rooftop Battle:

Lilia's attack using red wind was partially successful. While Red Wind, did hit her target, it merely hit his armor and pushed him off the roof, where he hit the ground. The guard then tried to get up, and may end up back in the fight, should nothing happen to him.(-30 Health, out of fight for two rounds, at least.) (-30 Stamina)
The other guard was less fortunate though, as the two archers then began to shoot at him, as Sort was busy with the Necromancers. The guard was not able to block all the shots with his shield and ended up taking an arrow both in the leg and in the shoulder (- 50 Health, temporarily immobilized)

Lilia lets out a small sound of annoyance as the guard is merely pushed off the roof instead of having a new hole to breath out of. At least the archers proved to be useful, bogging down the guard still on the roof so that finishing him off should be easy. "Alright! Let's go, Purple Murder!" she says as she starts funneling lightning magic into her blade, turning into a sword of pure electricity. It's a lot easier to see than Red Wind, but she's not going for subtlety here. She's going for cathartic, destructive death. While the guard's still stopped by the arrows, Lilia boosts her speed and runs behind the guard, intending to melt through his armor and fry his heart with her blade.

Dax grins as his attack did almost exactly as he wished it to. Besides actually kill the guard. He would fix that soon. He decided to try a new deceptive trick with his pillar jump. One this guy was just going to love with alllll his heart. So getting back down to business he looked at the man with his axe raised and ready to fight him with and then with a small smile suddenly Dax was launching himself in the air to try and land close behind the man. But there lie the distraction. As soon as the man begin to look up and away from the unassuming pillar it would shoot an earth spike straight for the man's heart.

Nyx gave chase to the hooded figures hoping to get some answers

Blue almost tripped when he reached the town square and saw the stranger fighting with two robed figures. No second guessing that's magic, extremely powerful magic at that. He stood at the edge of the square in awe until the end of the fight. The roar snapping him out of it and forcing him to turn his gaze upward just in time to see the draco-lich land. What the hell is that!?! is the only thing he manages to say as guards begin jumping off of it. Blue was about to turn and run when he notices that the giant draco-lich is leaving and only one guard is coming at him, with familiar looking weapons. I see you have something of mine and I'd very much like them back. Blue stands steady now, staring down the charging guard as three plates of ice melt on his back. The waters of two plates flowing down his arms. The first to fortify the ice blade in his right hand into a more formidable weapon. The second flowing down his left to form a orb in his left hand for quick assaults. The waters of the final plate flowing down Blue's back and tail, subtly spreading across the ground and freezing into a near invisible film for several feet around him. Blue then lowers into a combat stance, digging his claws in for traction and holding the now shortsword sized ice blade primed and ready to deflect the guards first blown if he can stay on his feet long enough that is.

Victor smirks once more as the guard jumps back and tries to remove the heated-up part of his chain mail. That must sting really bad, considering how hot partially-melted metal is on flesh...but at least he won't need to feel it much longer.

"Shippu Taiho!!"

Taking advantage of his opponent's distraction, Victor fires the electric bullet straight at the exposed section in his chain-mail, aiming to drop the man with quick, decisive lethality. They have no time to waste on these small fry, and the more that is wasted, the more guards will catch up to cause more trouble. He'll need to end this fast, then make a break for their hideout in town even faster.

Sort and Blue: Center of Town:

The guard charged at Blue, with his blades ready screaming something about Blue making a nice pair of boots, before slipping on the icy film surrounding his target. The guard completely lost balance and his feet flew up in the air. His back hit the ice and he slide forward, giving blue a very nice chance to finish him as he tried to get back up, unfortunately the guard wasn't very coordinated on ice.

Dax's attack worked just as he had planned. When he shot up into the air, the guard watched him, and was completely unprepared for the earthen spike that shot out and impaled his heart. The man died before Dax even touched the ground. Victor himself, was also successful in his attack as his lightning blast hit his opponent, just where he intended, this caused the mans chest to explode, showering the ground with its contents. AS Those two finished their opponents, one of the cloaked figures grabbed Dax's wrist and pulled him off into the crowd. Victor was able to see Nyx stalk off after two other cloaked figures, as they made their way deeper into the city.

Lilia:

Lilia was able to finish her opponent with her electric blade, slicing through him like a hot knife through butter. She had no time to celebrate however, as she now saw an entire brigade of guards marching down the street toward the town square. One of the cloaked figures yelled at her to come along with them, as they made their way off the roof and started running into the city.

A wide smile formed on Blues face as he watched the guard fall. He'd then quickly move to the downed guard, careful not to slip on his own ice and slashed at the guards throat. I'd love to skin you for that boot comment but I don't have the patience right now. Blue then attempts to drive the steel hard ice blade through the guards armor and into his heart. If successful Blue would then retrieve his blades from the guard,checking them for damage and shifting them in his hands as he remembers the familiar weight. (I'm assuming Sort isn't in combat right now. If not ignore this part) After that Blue would approach the stranger. I'm guessing by that display with the two robed fellows that you're the man that I should be thanking for saving my hide from the gallows. Blue holds his hand out to the stranger in gratitude. My name is Blue Scales but you can call me Blue for short. I believe I owe you a very large debt and a drink my friend.
