Temporal Shift [Fedoras are always in style]

"I didn't save you at all, you are the last thing on my mind" she said, walking over the blood and semen stained floor of the whole living room. She went up to the corpse of the Skin head, sorrow in her eye as if she relived the experience all over again. The woman closed his eyes, whispering a prayer, "Rest in Peace". She walked over to the nude form of Zane, knife in neck, before pulling the knife out and tossing it aside. Once more she closing his eyes whispering a prayer.

She then strode from the room, and out a circular staircase to the street below, the city was in ruin, buildings collapsed, fires as far as the eye can see. The lights in the city were out, only the early morning moon and fires providing the only light.

"what the fuck happened to this place?" emily said under her breath as she limped with the woman. Emily was following her at this point. nothing better to do with the city looking like this.

"By the looks of it this reality is rejecting itself, buildings collapsing under the strain of a temporal shift, but what would I know about that?" as if from the air itself she produced an umbrella opening it up to cover herself from the rain. The rain continued to come down, mourning the loss of life, the wind crying out in pain. The lady walked down the street.

Emily followed limping along. "hey wait up i can't keep up with you, my knee is broken" emily whimpers reaching out to the woman.

The woman turned around on one heel, looking at Emily, the blood running off her body in the rain, staining the clothes she had put on. "This is my problem how? I am a busy woman and can't be bothered."

"You can't at least let me help you? or maybe take me somewhere where i can get help?"

"I could, but it's not like I have to" she said, standing in the rain with her canvas umbrella. "The closest hospital by any guess is that direction" she said as she pointed towards a pillar of smoke in the sky, 8 blocks by any guess. She turned away from the girl walking in the opposite direction.

Emily didn't follow her, she was pretty sure she had got everything she could from the woman and started limping towards the hospital "i hope they are still open" she mused to herself as she walked.

The form of the women continued to walk into the rain, before disappearing behind a gust of rain and wind. The wind begun to pick up, the rain batting down harder as time went on. The streets were ruined, whole segments of the road cracked and lifted up by the plates below it. whole window sections buckled out from the building, their shattered panes across the street, the hulls of burned out cars lined both sides of the street. Before long she made it where the pillar of smoke was, a burning hospital across from a park, a makeshift field hospital in the area.

Emily stumbled towards the field hospital hoping she would find someone "hello? I've broken my leg is there anyone there?" she limped towards it desperate.

"Sir my sister is 16 years old and couldn't force me to clean my own room let alone murder a fly how could she force me to murder 30 people? Now you are just being silly." He still talked with his eyes closed wondering when the man would figure out he had done nothing wrong except be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

She continued to shuffle through the makeshift wards of the field hospital, their boundaries formed by the gurneys and make shift curtains splitting away the defined areas. She walked in a daze, the rain coming down into the camp, turning the ground to mud, the sound of screaming and dying people coming through the various curtains

A young nurse approached her, a man in his early thirties, brown hair pulled back and off his forehead in a shot hair-do. "Hey, are you ok?" he said, looking her up and down, the blood of her clothes hard to conceal.

"Then who was your accomplice" the man said, his face in a stern expression as he continued to grill Dax under the full intensity of an interrogation. He pulled out photos, magnified images, several inches wide by several inches long, high quality print paper. Their lamented form shone under the intensity of the light. They were photos of the floor of the underground car, measuring utensils on one side, and marker indicators on another. One pair of bloody foot prints were denoted as evidence A, the other set B.

"We have confirmed that one of those pairs of footprints belong to you", he said pointing down to Dax's bare feet, his shoes gone.

"My knee is broken i need...i needa splint." she looked at the man with pain in her eyes. She offered a hand hoping he would help her along.

"Of course I had to walk through the train to continue further, and there was no accomplice becuase I had nothing to do with it." Dax continues to try and keep his cool. Then he decides to ask a question,"The other foot print, did you identify who it belonged to?"

The man side stepped her outstretched hand, instead placing his neck under her shoulder on the side in which she favored, helping lift her up as to hobble along on one leg. "We better help you over to Radiology and Diagnostics" the man said, as he helped her down the muddy path being carved into what has become the main corridor of the makeshift hospital. As they walked, they passed by the form of an impeccably dressed woman, and two EMT's, a large barking dog running in circles as it chased it's tail in the mud just along side of them, getting a laugh by the three people. They came to a make shift tent, important equipment nestled away on tarped floors. A doctor came to the woman, "What's her problem?" the man said.

"Whoever it is, you can stop covering for him. From the make and size of the shoe, we are estimating a male, approximately 30 years in age, of at least six feet." the man said reading off the notepad he continually kept in his hand. The man leaned away from the table, his form being obscured into the darkness behind the light, as Dax continued to get railed by questions. He picked up an evidence bag, dropping it to the table with a loud metallic clang.

"One twelve millimeter caliber pistol, unknown make, no serials, a silencer, a light attachment, extended grip, and laser dot sights" the man said. "Pretty serious equipment, tied in to the murder of thirty people, forty-one round recovered from the scene of the crime." the man said, tapping one hand on the metallic surface of the table.

Dax sighs unable to keep the mystery man out of it any longer,"That pistol belongs to the man whose foot prints you found alongide. I followed him down into the underground. He was sitting in the way of the entrance of the train and begged me not to follow him through. The man was either incredibly smart, way smarter than we could ever possibly imagined or off his rocker. Unfortunately he can'y be with us becuase he killed himself in front of me not too long before you picked me up." Dax lays it all out on the table now and waits.

The man stood up, walking over to the mirror, before tapping at it again with the back of two fingers. He circled around behind Dax, before re-appearing back into his field of vision where the cam-corder stood, tapping away at it with his hand. The light stopped blinking as the man went and turned off the light. He walked out the door leaving Dax alone, confronted with the images of the crime scene, their gruesome bloody images haunting. The gun stood on the table in the evidence bag, away from the cuffed hands of Dax, his form tied to the chair via multiple chains. He was alone, in the white tiled room.

Dax sighs again his eyes remain closed,"You know this is why people don't like talking to the police..."
