When Charlie seems excited to have Imperia onboard, as she should, Imperia is quite confident in her capabilities as a meat shield, Imperia focuses on the tail end of her statement. As she suspected, there is more to her power than the tendrils. While Charlie seems somewhat worried, Imperia couldn’t help but feel interested in the idea. Perhaps she could acquire this power for herself, to supplement what she had learned in the arena. Now that she was no longer trapped in the fighting pit, it would be the best time to start learning skills such as these.
Having no real skills at tracking, beyond simply seeing footprints if Loyd points them out to her, Imperia remained behind Charlie as she showed off her aptitude for tracking, remaining quiet and keeping an eye out for danger. As their only close-range combatant, she would need to be the first to the target, to prevent it from throwing her backline into chaos, and forcing her to focus less on inflicting damage, her specialty, and more on protection and stalling.
The moment they lay their eyes upon the metal-headed creature, Imperia swings her scythe off of her lower back and twirls it around as she drops into a battle stance, getting preparing to inflict as much meaningful damage upon the creature as possible. Due to the creature’s larger size, she would need to ensure that it’s immobilized, so that she can use her agility to her advantage… something that she has always done, due to her small stature. “Get ready.” she whispers to her companions, before dashing full speed at the creature. Imperia was in no way skilled at moving quietly, meaning she would need to close the gap at such great speed that the creature would have no time to respond to her presence. While she preferred to shout attack names to throw off her opponents and force them to contemplate what she was attempting to do, she at least knew enough not to do that in this situation, so as to give her the best chance of approaching unnoticed.
With the creature failing to recognize her presence, Imperia swings wide, hefting her scythe to her right side as she travels in an arc at full speed, then dashes straight to her left, swinging her scythe down and slashing it directly through both of the creature’s achilles tendons with no mercy. Once the creature was immobilized, she swung around in front of it and shouted at the creature “Fear not, twisted thing, for you shall be returned to the ashes shortly. Your pain is temporary, as it is for all living things!” she said, as she began spinning her scythe in preparation for her next attack.
The towering orge fell to its knees as its tendons were severed with extreme enmity. Looking to the source of its newly acquired wounds. The metal mask was focused squarely on Imperia’s slim frame. Though the metal cage covered the ogre’s face, its pained cries were all Imperia needed to hear to know that it had harmed the beast. With a feral intensity, it balled its hands into a fist and swung at Imperia trying to crush the former gladiator.
As Imperia occupied the ogre’s attention, Charlie and Belladonna took their positions. Now that she no longer had to act as a decoy, she could take a more patient approach to her attack. Finding a rock outcropping, Charlie took cover and notched an arrow. From the corner of her eye, she could see the archer with her bow ready to attack. But instead of letting the arrow loose, Charlie waited. A look of focus on her face that belied her normally boisterous additude.
Belladonna on the other hand was out in the open. Her hands together in a strange symbol. Her index, ring and middle fingers on both hands were rolled and pressed together. Meanwhile the tips of her pointing finger and thumb met to form a diamond. Her body gave off a sinister energy as she began to chant. The language was unlike anything Imperia had heard before. It sounded more like wailing moans than actual words. “To think that there were still languages even I hadn’t heard of.” Loyd commented as he watched the events of the battle from within Imperia’s body. “I’d also suggest not getting grabbed by this thing.” He added as he gestured to the monster’s incoming attack.
Imperia lept backwards, allowing the attack to slam into the ground, then dashed forward, stomping on the creatures hand, then catapulting herself onto its shoulder. She, first, bangs the hilt of her weapon against the monster’s helmet, causing it to ring like a bell in an attempt to distract the creature and leave it wide open, then she lept backwards and spins, slashing her weapon across the creature’s chest and shoulder. She let out an annoyed grunt as the attack inflicts less damage than she had hoped, as the creature wasn’t quite as open as she had wanted it to be. “You have thicker skin than I thought.” she stated, flatly, more to herself as a reminder that she needs to attack with more strength and precision, otherwise she won’t get the bleeding effect she needs. When he father comments on Bella’s language, Imperia cocks her head “I was not aware that you knew more than a few, father.” she replies. While she was aware that he knew more than one language, since he often acted as her translator, but he had not needed to do it for very many languages. When reminded not to let the creature grab her, she nods quickly, not because she was not aware, but because it meant that it was a bit more dangerous than she had realized, and because this reminder moreso meant that her last attack left her open for too long to justify the damage she had inflicted.
Before she even had a chance to recover, Imperia could feel something ram into her chest. In mere moments, she found herself looking up from underneath the metal-faced ogre. It’s large hand pressed Imperia into the dirt with impressive force. She could feel the air being pressed out of her small body. At the same time, it felt as though the hulking beast was trying to grope her at the same time. It’s palm rubbing against her clothed nipples as it pressed harder.
“Sonnavabitch!” Charlie hissed as she let loose two arrows, one into the beast’s arm and another into its neck. Moving in closer, Charlie began to notch another arrow. “Bella! If you got a trick up your sleeve now would be the time to play it!” Charlie yelled as she continued to pelt the ogre with arrows. Belladonna merely continues chanting. But underneath her, a magic circle was forming. It crackled with energy that was at once foreign and familiar.
But Imperia couldn’t focus on that as the Metal-face Ogre continued to grind her into the dirt. It moved its metal topped head closer to Imperia’s face. Through one of the holes, she could see its eyes. Large, covered in red blood vessels and focused entirely on Imperia. “Well this is a fine situation you’ve gotten yourself into.” Loyd commented as he sat waiting within the gladiator. “You need a hand my thorny little rose? Before this thing breaks your spine. Or you might get lucky and it just gives a rough fu..”
Before he can finish, the air is pierced by a blood curdling wail. The ogre looks to the source to find Belladonna and ...something else. An unholy abomination with a maggot-like head and skeletal frame rose up from the dark portal that the spell caster had opened. “Let the First Horror walk the Planes of Man and let them know the terror of the abyss” Belladonna said in a more recognizable language. The ogre stared at the abyssal summon and only it. Imperia could feel the ogre begin to tremble at the sight of it. But she could also feel its grip loosen.
Imperia was attempting to move into another side-step so that she could strike one of the creature’s arms and disable it, however she had not shifted back into her battle stance, leaving her open to the creature’s flailing swipe. “Ack!” she lets out as the creature slams its hand down on her. Even as her breasts were being crushed against her and the wind was rushing out of her lungs from the creature pressing her into the ground, she thought to it, as if she was able to speak, “Foolish creature, I have survived far too many arena battles, and traveled this wasted world for far too long to die here. I have not yet found my purpose.” she thinks, however as the air continues to rush out of her, and despite the situation, her nipples begin to harden due to the creature’s palms rubbing up against them through her clothing, she adds “Though, if I am to die here, it merely means that I can embrace the cold darkness of death, rather than continuing to suffer through this procession of misery that many call life...”. She then hears her fa-... Loyd ask if she needs his help, and she responds in her thoughts “I am merely waiting for an opening, this creature knows not who he trifles with.” and just as she thinks this, she hears the wail, and the creature’s grip loosens. “Fool.” she states, flatly, before slipping her arm out from beneath the creature, and slamming her scythe into the ground. She uses her scythe to yank herself out from under the creature’s grip, then rolls backwards into a crouching position, before launching herself towards the creature in a spinning dash, shouting “Reaping Spiral: Mass Grave of Ribbons!” as she passes the creature, swinging her scythe in a mighty slash that lops off the creature’s left arm. Only then does she see the abomination brought forth from the black abyss by Bella’s chanting, and despite the many battles she has been through, the monsters she has faced in the wasteland, and having seen the tendrils from the same abyss, she feels her heart skip a beat and her blood run cold. Luckily, it had been summoned by Bella, and was after the metal-headed creature, otherwise she would have been far more concerned.
Imperia shakes it off in an instant… or she’d have liked to, she merely distracts herself with the metal-headed creature instead. “Eyes on me!” she shouts at the creature, attempting to regain its attention, despite still trying to regain her breath from being crushed, and maintain her cool, despite an abomination from the darkest abyss stomping towards both her and her opponent. Preparing her next attack, she feels another chill run down her spine, and decides that she should end this now, as the sooner she eliminates the enemy, the sooner Bella will hopefully despawn this creature. She clutches her scythe in both hands, then charges at the creature, regardless of whether it was now facing her or not, shouting “TO ASHES!” as she slashes at the creature’s thigh, running a deep gash through it, then ducks under the creature’s arm, swinging her scythe along the back of its neck, with a spinning sweep, severing its spine. With one final slash, she kicks off of the creature’s side to change her direction, then spins towards its front, ducking past its flailing arm and slamming the blade of her scythe into the opening of the creature’s helmet, burying it deep, and causing a loud clang as the scythe’s blade slams against the back of the helmet. Imperia attempts to pull her scythe out, so that she can get out of the way if the creature somehow survived, however her scythe fails to budge, causing her to panic slightly as she certainly couldn’t damage a creature with such thick skin without her weapon, and still needed to provide a dangerous enough distraction that the creature wouldn’t begin crawling to her backline.
Fallen on the ground, the beast stopped moving. Or that’s what Imperia believed. But in her blindspot, the ogre’s remaining arm was reaching for the scythe-wielding gladiator. One last desperate attack to inflict just an iota of pain on Imperia. But before it’s arm could reach her, a trio of arrows pierced it’s shoulder, elbow and wrist. The punctured arm fell lifeless to the ground, remaining motionless like the rest of the body. With a sigh of relief, Charlie relaxed her stance as she approached the lifeless giant. “That didn’t go too badly for our first fight as a team” Charlie said as she checked the ogre one last time for any signs of life. “Here let me give you a hand with that” She said to Imperia as she approached to help pull out her scythe.
A small wail filled the air as the First Horror stood before the fallen ogre. Without warning, it kneeled down and began to bite down on the corpse’s flesh. The tendrils around the mouth wiggled as it tore at the flesh of the creature’s belly and stuffed it into its mouth. Charlie gave a nauseated look to the creature as it began to feel. “Come on Bella, keep your damn … whatever that is under control. At least until we get the head off” Charlie said. Belladonna kept her normal expression and merely shook her head. “The abyss hungers for those who like in the light. So it either feeds on that or us”
Charlie merely rolled her eyes at Belladonna’s response. It must have been a pretty common interaction between the two. “Let’s get your scythe and get the head before that thing eats it”.
When Charlie states that this didn’t go too badly for their first fight as a team, Imperia merely replies “You and Belladonna are unharmed, so I consider my mission a success, however I will admit that I made mistakes against my opponent.” she says, after which she replies “Thank you, Charlie.” when she moves to help her pull her scythe out of the monster. She continues struggling with the weapon as the monster begins to feed on the flesh of her fallen opponent, another chill running down her back as she glances at a thing which should not be, resulting in her struggling harder to get the weapon out. She starts to understand what this magic is when Belladonna explains that the monster feeds on the creature or them, causing her to realize that it is not fully under her control. So, Belladonna’s magic is powerful, but hard to control. She thinks to Loyd “Father, do you know anything about this woman’s magic?” out of curiosity. However, with Charlie mentioning that they need to hurry to keep the monster from eating the creature’s head, she quickly stomps her boot onto its head, then works with Charlie to tug the scythe out. Finally, it budges, coming loose completely, and causing Imperia to stumble back, falling over onto her ass, causing her legs to splay out, unintentionally giving Charlie a nice view of her black and navy blue striped panties. She recovers quickly, getting to her feet and giving the monster’s neck a heavy slash with her scythe, cutting most of the way through it. After her second attempt, she cuts the head off entirely, then bends down and grabs the head by the helmet, before handing it to Charlie.
