Hurati continued to drive forward and took a hard left turn towards the town square. He swerved in surprise a few raiders ran past him. He turned to look at the fleeing raiders and thought, 'They're retreating.' before turning back to look forward. He blinked an then whipped up his smg, aiming it at an out of control buggy that was crisscrossing the road ahead of him. He held it with one hand and the handle bars with the other before pulling the trigger. He closed his eyes briefly and his arms shook horribly from the recoil.
He heard a sharp snap and opened his eyes to see that the raider was unharmed but his engine had lit on fire. The man looked at him in shock before the buggy exploded. Unfortunately the momentum continued to carry it forward towards Hurati and he was unable to move the bike any other way. Thinking quickly, hurati planted his feet on the motorcycle and then jumped, sailing over the on-fire buggy.
He hit the ground with a thud and an "oompf", then tried to stand before an explosion shockwave knocked him back down. Rolling on his back, Hurati saw that the buggy had hit the motorcycle and they were both a total wreck. Hurati stood and walked towards a small group of bodies on the floor, noticing that one had flashier armor than the rest. He stopped over the body and started searching his pockets, bags, and holsters.
He found a pouch-sized bag that jingled when it moved, a key for something, and a Model 870 express shotgun with 15 shells. He looked it over and noticed that it was pretty rusted and needed maintenance, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. Hurati dumped the shells and bag in his satchel, before pocketing the key and then stripping the backpack scabbard for the shotgun from the dead man. He put it on and then holstered the shotgun in it.
He took out the empty clip in the smg, placed the empty in his satchel, and then replaced it with a full one. He didn't chamber a round and dropped it into his bag also. Hurati stood and sighed, dusting off his pants, before turning around and starting to trek back towards the church. He stumbled slightly and said out loud, "Man, this stuff is getting heavy."
We need bigger kittens.
