Chrystalis: Shattered World

Amber slowly regains consciousness as she finds herself pinned under some books,"Messy... nobody appreciates books anymore." She mutters to herself as she trys with all her strength to lift the bookcase pinning her free an succeeds," Ugh... what happened... did... I fall? Hmm... strange." She said and looked around to see books scattered everywhere and a card catalog in disarray making her grind her teeth,"Ooo.... leave it. I don't need to fix it. The books aren't where they belong anyway. Now how to get out of here..." She said and started to wander around the library looking for a way out that wasn't blocked by about 500 pounds of bookcase. Then she suddenly realized that she had heard noises on that side if the door... people. She hurried over to it and banged on the door,"Hello! Is someone out there!?" She called as she knocked frantically on the door.

Kal took a step back from the door, she figured there was no point in waiting for Emily to look at the lock this door didn't look particularly tough anyway, so she rammed her shoulder and body into it at full speed putting all her strength and speed into it hoping to bust the door open. Hopefully this room would hold some details as to what had been happening here.

Drayk looked at Angel and then decided that it would be smart to take her up on her offer. He only knew enough about technology to repair, use, and if needed, de-activate. He had enough medical knowledge to get by, but that wouldn't cut it.

Walking up to Angel's seat, he decided that he definately needed her skill, she looked resiliant and bright. He sat in the seat across from her and thought to himself, Maybe I misjudged them from the begining.

"Okay, I'll take you up on your offer, we both need a team, we can survive." As he said it, he thought to himself, We WILL survive.

Emily looks up at the sound of Kal throwing herself at the door, not hearing the question since she was so absorbed looking at the notes. It's mostly gibberish to her. She's a Computer Science major, not a geologist! Still, thanks to that Earth Science class she had to take to fulfill her science requirements, she can recognize the Seismic activity charts and notes, which tipped her off about needing to be a geologist to understand this stuff in the first place. Still, that class covered the basics, so she's not likely to get any more information than that.

"Nothing in here we can use. Unless you're a geologist?" she says, a bit of a question in the last bit. Maybe Kal is? She wouldn't know if she didn't ask, right? "Some parts of the lab is Earth Science, some parts are biochemistry. Maybe they were trying to find a weapon against the crystals? Something acidy maybe? Oh! They might have tried melting the crystals. Only I don't see proof that it worked." Emily realizes she's randomly throwing out whatever thoughts pop into her head again and stops before she sounds any more like a smart idiot. So would that make her a sophomore? A wise fool? But she was almost getting her A.A. when the world went tits up! She still wouldn't be a fool, would she? ...she's going off again. At least this time it was in her head. Looking over at Kal attempting to break down the door, Emily just sits there with her guard up and her baseball bat at the ready since she doesn't know how to pick locks. Instead, she figures she should be ready for anything that comes rushing out of it.

Josh saw Andrea's mouth moving, but didnt really listen to what she had to say. He pulled his hat over his face and tried to get some shut eye before the scouting party came back. He wasn't being rude intentionally, he was only very introverted.

Kal recieve a rough shock from slamming against the door, but that was to be expected. With a loud crack, the door breaks through it wooden supports and slowly swings open. Suddenly the two hear loud banging and fevered cried for help coming from the library. The knob twists and tugging can be heard, so it isn't locked, it's just blocked by something heavy. The door is able to open enough for two people to look at eachother through the crack.

Inside the office, the room is thankfully mostly intact. There is a file cabinet filled with lots of experimental information sorted by date, and on the desk is the most recent lab report. It seems whoever used this room utilized an old fashioned type writer.

Starting when she hears the banging at the library door, Emily confirms that nothing is going to jump at Kal then says, "I'm going to see what that was at the library. Holler if you find something interesting. Or dangerous. I think you have dangerous covered, but if I can help, cool.", before turning and cautiously looking through the gap in the door, close enough that she can see but far enough away that she can react if the person or thing on the other side does something funny. Wait, what does she do if they do something really funny? Laugh? That might be bad considering the potential danger. But she's never been good at not laughing at something funny. ...she's wandering off again. Focusing herself, she gives an airy "Hullllllooooo~?" through the door to seee if someone responds.

Kal watched Emily move over to the library door pecular as the girl was Kal couldn't help but like her, the girl was intelligent no doubt about that and she had a little fire in her which could get her into trouble but none the less Kal was here for that, "Watch out for yourself too and give me a shout if you need help, I'm hoping there's a journal in here with at least some details on what's happening in this... Well lab".

After all it was her job to uphold the law and protect the innocent, Kal turned to face the office and walked in, she the office was tidy enough which was good, it also mean't Kal didn't have to look far to see the report on the table, she picked it up and began to read it.

Looking at Raige Angel figured that he sincerely meant that and would probably protect her so she sat close to him and started thinking of plans and ideas of what she wanted to do which included finding a place to stay and a source of food and water. As she thought of these things she looked at him just kind of staring off but at him; she gasped for a second looked at him and told him her ideas and what she had thought about. Angel personally thought it would be best to form two large groups and set up a community and start to reform life for them

Amber perked up at the sound if a door splintering and crashing open. They could be friends! People to help her! Or murderers... or people to take advantage of her... she quieted herself then but realized it too late as she peeked through the door to spot a girl staring hack at her,"Hello? The door has a big bookcase in front of it... I can't get it open... Please tell me you are a friend? I just woke up here and I can't seem to remember what happened..." She said alittle distant. Like she was confused and trying to remember again. Which she was. She was trying desperately to remember how she had gotten there. Trying to peirce the fog of memory.

Emily shrugs as if the details are rather unimportant. "I dunno you, so I wouldn't call me a friend. A friendly acquaintance maybe? No, I think I'd have to know your name to even be acquaintances. So a friendly stranger." she says, finishing a whole loopy train of thought before launching right into another. "Isn't this a strange place to take a nap though? I mean, it's a repurposed mall, so I guess it's kinda safe, but sleeping by yourself doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Well, not that safe if we could get in. Maybe a bit safer for you since you can't get in or out. ...I think I'm wandering again." she finally catches herself and returns to the situation at hand. "See anything you can use like leverage? Or maybe something that'll blow the entrance away! Or another exit. Libraries always have emergency exits."

Day 32

Chemical Zenofaban was a success! On regular geodes, there was little to no effect, but on Chrystalis eggs, the combound burned clean through the creature's outer skeleton and disassembled vital internal structures of the living crystal creature within. Doctor Rezbenof theorizes that the halflife atomic structure of these so called "Chrystalis creatures" is incredibly short, but due to complex strings of carbon, they are able to constantly reconfigure to appear as one stable being. This would explain why the Chrystalis infection was able to spread so quickly, and why almost any carbon based organism has the possibility of infection. By inhibiting the reconsitution ability of the Chrystalis subject, it effectively falls apart on itself. There may even be hope that this may serve as an effective cure for those who have not been transformed completely... We've already lost a too many good people to these monsters. Cassady... may she rest in peace.

There is a photo of an older looking woman, maybe in her 30s, with her young teenage daughter. They are wearing identicle lab gear and this picture has clearly been taken after the events that have changed the entire world. The younger woman looks so much what can be presumed to be her mother, especially in the same almost stylish lab coats with coy, librarian specs.

There is a large well near the strip mall where the other two woman dissappeared into. It was probably made after the Chrstalis chrisis considering no one would build a well in the middle of suburbia, hopefully it is still function. As for places to stay, there is a huge stadium which could hold hundreds of people at best, but there are also a few residential homes in good standing condition.It may be best for someone to make a sweep of these areas before they go seperate ways and bunker in for the night. Never know what could be lurking under the shadows.

Ugh, your head hurt so much, the memories are hard to come by. There were some scientist who used to work here... You helped run the library and they'd come to you for books, but then something went wrong. Earth shaking... panic... everyone running away. Back to the task at hand, it seems this library has been purposefully refitted to have less areas of access, and thus less exits. You remember that the people here wanted to make sure everything was secure before they started letting in everybody. There aren't any tools kept on hand in the library... it's pretty much just for books. Hopefully these strangers here know where to find some tools, or at least more muscle.

Andrea simply shrugged her shoulder, and sat besides Josh. Giving a non-chalant look before simply lying back and staring into the space, possibly to doze off or just think of some splendid ideas. But of course, all of those were nothing but pastime. Since she's compelled to stay with someone to remain safe, and she had already interacted with Josh so it will be a waste if she goes and interact with someone else..Too much effort.

Drayk looked at Angel as she stated her plans, when she finished he nodded his confirm. "Who were you thinking about grouping with? I was going to try the approach but Kal just shrugged me off." He stared out the window, looking in the direction that Kal and Emily had gone. he decided that he also wanted to scout.

He looked at Angel, then said, "I think that if we're going to find shelter, we need to start soon. What do you think about those houses, they would be a good place to start."

Kal stared at the photo for a little while it looked like the she might have been in charge though she wasn't sure it would be helpful she decided to pocket the photo just incase it was useful later on. The report had been interesting and it had Kal thinking, Chrystalis eggs... this is important and from the looks of it they knew how to cure someone who had been infected, by something the girl emily might find this more useful.

Kal decided to look around more search the desk before finally opening up the filling cabinet to see if she could find anything about the Chrystalis egg or the creatures mentioned, and more importantly if they were a danger how to kill them. Kal was a practical thinker and she wasn't going to walk into anything unprepared, she just hoped Emily wasn't going to get herself into any trouble either.

Nodding to Drayk she stood up and walked towards the house ducking out of the bus slowly, Angel pointed to a medium sized house that still seemed to be in great to good condition. She motioned toward it thinking that if she were to head there that it would be best to sweep before it turns dark out.

"Hey I think me and you should go search a couple homes and pick one that suites us and make sure it's safe and boarded we dont wanna be searching on tha dark you know." Angel said that to him with a honest and worried voice hoping that he would be completely open and okay with her thought, for it wasn't complicated and it seemed like that was what he wanted anyways, plus it's a good idea to set camp or base somewhere. Angel thought to herself that why wouldn't he want to stay with me anyways im beautiful, she thought about herself in such a high manner when saying that as to almost comfort herself.

Drayk looked at the house Angel had pointed to, It seemed to be a good place to start. He nodded his affirmation. "Let's go," he said as he tossed his glance back to Josh, then started walking toward the building. As he walked he began making a list of everything they would need to survive. He looked back to the bus and noticed that Angel's supplies were still unpacked beside it, "We need to get your things."

"Nngh... no something happened. I can't remember. A bookshelf must have fallen on me... there isn't anything on this side I can use to get out... could you guys help me move this book case? Or maybe you can break then do or with something? I only have books... and a memory. I... think this place was supposed to be secure for... something. I can't. remember it all... its coming slowly... my name is Amber. That much i do know. Please help me out though. please?" She asked nicely as she tried to tug on the heavy bookcase to see if she could budge it at all and if jot maybe the nice girl who rambles could help her push it free of the door.

"Probably Crystal People." Emily says with a shrug as a suggestion for things the library was supposed to defend against. "There's only me and one other person here right now, so maybe we can help. Dunno how heavy the bookshelf is though. Are there still books on it? I'd hate to have to shove a million and and half books AND the bookshelf." In the meantime, she calls out to Kal. "Yooo~! We have a lady stuck in the library. She wants to know if we can help her with a bookshelf. She doesn't remember much though. That seems like it'd suck, not remembering anything. Like starting over. Except, you know, without having to go through the whole 'being born' thing again." she cuts herself off there.

turning quickly Angel packed her stuff she had placed everything she had back into her bag and crouched over slightly to do it showing off her panties as she bent over. Almost in no time at all she had finished and was ready to leave and go to the house and make sure it was clean and safe, she had place her supplies on her back and walked carrying the heavy pans and pots toward the house stopping at the front door turning back awaiting Drayk to come with her.
