Alanis begins to ponder their options. The sewers were a no go, unless they found a way to protect themselves, and climbing would be very difficult for Alanis, even with the proper gear. Their best bet would likely to find a vehicle or elevator that could take them to the higher levels of the city, and head to the Tower of Faith from there. "Let's try to find a vehicle or passage that can lead us back up into the city," Alanis says to Ash, before she begins to look around the general area. "Keep your eyes peeled for anything else useful as well. If we find another way to get back into the city that's secure, we should probably take it. Extra ammunition or weapons would be helpful as well, we won't win in a fire fight if we just have our melee weapons left."

Ash nods. "I'm armed now, but I could use more ammo...or some explosives. Both of our options offers different dangers, though underhive is worse: tyranids, Eldar and mutants can hide here, and cultists or gangs will likely have some patrols there. Upper hive would mean much more cultists, though less opportunities for non-human enemies, unless the heretics have some mercenaries in their employ...and less options for us to stay hidden."

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Rolls lost due to server error

Alanis and Ash give the compound a once over and Ash discovers a working compact autopistol. While it didn't fire the same rounds as the larger versions it was lightweight and easy to conceal. It had a full magazine inside it and a spare on the corpse, he never even had a chance to fire back against the Eldar. Meanwhile Alanis rounds the corner near the gate leading out of the outpost and finds a small open topped military truck. In the back is several hundred pounds of detonationpaste, a malleable explosive that was thankfully inert. The wiring and detonator were in the cab of the truck along with the keys. If they were to use the truck they had a few options, either circling around in the mountains until they found a better entrance to the lower sections of the city, trying to drive up the main road to the city gates or venturing out into the open plains at the base of the mountain and into the warzone being fought between rebels and the imperial guard.

Rosette double taps the heretic but stops as she realizes instead of a bloody cloud of gore the image dissipates into a thin colored mist. The heretics voice continued to speak though she felt it in her mind now rather than her ears. "I was hoping we could come to an arrangement... instead I leave you a special gift." Rosette suddenly hears a clank behind her and turns only partially before thick tentacles wrap around her arms and legs holding her in place as a disfigured chaos spawn moves in closer to the sister of battle. Its unholy strength is apualing and she feels it lift her off the ground briefly and slam her into the wall. The tips of its tendrils probe her neck and elbow joints trying to seek a away under her armor and judging by their phallic protrusions it would be best if her environmental seal held.

Alanis begins to smile when she spots the military truck and rushes over to it, wondering if it was still operational. She checks the compartments for anything useful first, and finds a huge payload of detonationpaste. "What in the world was this going to be used for?" Alanis mutters to herself, quickly checking the rest of the vehicle to find the keys and the detonator. The paste could come in handy later on, but right now she needed to get herself and Ash back into the city. The front gate would likely be guarded, and heading into the warzone was likely a bad idea as well, so Alanis hoped they could find a mountain pass to use to get back into the city. She starts up the vehichle while trying to remember if there was another entrance they could use, based on the map she saw.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no," Rosette panicked as she was strung up by the spawn, it's foul tendrils soiling her robes as coiled around her form. As the tendril wrapped around her neck, she briefly thanked the emperor for his foresight in reminding her to wear her helmet and she fought back the foul ideas of what might have happened if she didn't.

But that would be for naught if she did not free herself hear and now from the creature. Focusing all her will, she strained to free an arm from the tendrils and grab one of her bolt pistols. If she did, she would smash it into the beasts gaping maw and fire until it stopped moving.

Ash takes the autopistol and spare magazine. It suits her combat style, and now she's got enough ranged firepower, though neither of her weapons have easily replacable ammo. She examines the dead technician's clothes too, in hope she'll find something to hide her synskin suit, but eldar weapons haven't left anything in wearable condition. Satisfied, she follows Alanis out and into the truck, noting the explosives. She's a little surprised there's only a single detonator for this large amount of explosives...maybe it was intended to destroy smomething heavily reinforced or as a car bomb. In any case, it may come in handy, Ash just isn't sure now how. But they are improvising anyway, surely some good opportunity to use it against the heretics or tyranids will present itself.

Ash turns to Alanis. "I'll keep watch while you'll drive." Lictors will likely ignore the truck, but it may draw an attention of other enemies, and Ash wants to be sure they aren't surprised again.

((apologies for delay - work cropped up on me!))

"No time to dawdle. We need to move on" . Faye glanced left and right, the area still in chaos, but at least with all the heretics having vacated the area for now. She barely let her gaze fall on her companions, the medic and the tech adept. Once again, she only lingered for the briefest moment on why she never bothered to learn their names, before the notion was banished, he implants cutting out the need for such familiarity in the heat of gladiatorial combat - and this entire city was one giant arena. "Deliberate if you wish, but I'm going to the starport to find a map. The mission hasn't changed just because of a few heretics. The leader needs to die" she said, already starting off towards the starport. She wondered if she should find someone else nearby that she could take command of, but no. Leadership wasn't her style - leave that to the nobles. She would do her job, and amount a sizable bodycount doing so.

Rosette Rolls:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

(Grappling check)
5(Rolled) VS 3(Enemy Roll) = Success

(Shooting roll)
To Hit: 15(Roll) - 2(Angle) = 13 VS 4, Hit+
To Wound: 10(Roll) Vs 6, Wound

Sparks flew up each time the chaos spawn tossed Rosette into a pipe or wall as her power armor protected her from the worst of the creatures assault. Her hand went to one of her bolt pistols and she drew it before the creature realized what was happening and despite the awkward angle she fired a round into its hip and it let out a wail of hate but didn't seem to be slowed by the injury. The beasts of chaos were relentless in their assault, and stories told that they were rarely deterred by gunfire or grievous wounds.

The truck started easily enough and despite the large quantities of explosives it was easy to maneuver in the back or riding shotgun. Either way Alanis found the road shortly leading out into the mountains and drove for what felt like an hour before their headlights illuminated some kind of structure up ahead. It looked like some kind of bunker and judging by the lights it was occupied though no one had started shooting at them so either the sentries weren't doing their jobs or the inhabitants didn't care. High up the mountain they could see the outline of an observation post though at night its doubtful they would see much.

Back in the gardens the tech priest raised her hand pointing to Faye and trying to sit up. "Don't loose track of that one" She wheezed trying to stand up and requiring Selene for support. "It seems rather determined and I doubt we can convince it otherwise." The medic couldn't help but notice the priest had begun to refer to Faye as an object rather than a person after the little bloodbath in the gardens. The three of them advanced toward the starport which was a large structure but surprisingly there weren't guards at every post. Moving closer and around one of the corners they saw a section of chimera transports with infantry boarding and a sergeant of some kind barking orders. "Yesterday people, those boys on the front need us now! Last one in is tomorrows sacrifice!" As the Sergeant turned to glance out into the streets they noticed a foul mark of chaos carved into the mans forehead.

Ash watches the bunker as they approach it. It is strange that no one hasn't noticed their arival, with the civil war going on, everyone should be on edge...unless the bunker's inhabitants feel safe in their territory...or there's nobody there to notice them, likely because everyone is dead already. Maybe victims of Eldar or tyranids?

"I'll chec it out." Ash slips from the truck into the shadows and sneaks closer, to investigate this suspicious place. Truck should serve her as a distraction, hopefully nothing bad happens to it and Alanis in the meantime.

Despite not having much training in driving vehicles into battle, Alanis found this truck easy enough to operate, as she sought out a dirt road and began to drive. She drove herself and Ash for quite sometime before they managed to reach a bunker. It was certainly odd enough that they weren't attacked on sight, which could have meant a few possibilities. Alanis was ready to check it out, when Ash quickly hopped out of the car and started sneaking over there herself. Alanis wanted to object, but she decided to stay in the car instead, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious or dangerous that could possibly visit the bunker.

Selena thought it was a bit harsh to call their teammate an it. Although it wouldnt go without saying she was more a weapon than a person. "Okay a bigger group than I thought. Any ideas on sabotaging their transports or just getting them killed without any of us dying. Because I'm starting to think those starving citizens have a good chance of winning from how desparate for food they are." Strider knew they were out gunned and numbered but this was easily a chance to weaken their opposition they needed to take a chance now.

Rosette tried to keep her head straight as she was jostled back and forth, trying to keep her bearings. Seeing the shot to the creatures hip didn't work she tried to press the barrel of the bolt weapon against one of the tendrils and fired, hoping to blow it off and make it drop her. If she did she would run down the corridor as fast as she could.

Faye ducked into cover with a curse on her lips and drew her stub gun. There were too many people ahead to kill easily, and everyone on their team knew it. She risked a glance up to evaluate what was going on before ducking back down. "Options? Hnn." she said as their strategy was questioned. "A mob would give us cover, but generate a lot more noise. Also they would get in the way. But, there would be more targets to take down." She took another glance around, her mind working overtime trying to come up with a tactic other than charge headlong in and slice them apart. "If... if we could get onboard one of those transports..."

The group outside the starport found that the chaos troops were quickly boarding their transports and would soon move out to wherever they were being ordered to. The sergeant boarded the last transport and the convoy began heading out down the main avenue past the group. Thankfully the shadows hid them and they were free to see what skeletal defense force had been left inside. Approaching the front doors they found the lobby completely deserted, routes to the transports were down a long curving hall to the left while a stairwell to the right lead to the offices and administrations centers for the building.

In the maintenance tunnels the sister got off a lucky shot that managed to blow off the tendril wrapped around her neck. The creature recoiled from the sudden dismemberment and she was free to begin sprinting down the corridor away from it. Glancing back she saw it was vaguely humanoid but its upper torso was riddled with shifting appendages that mostly ended in tentacles. Two large claws were just now forming that would have begun to crack open her suit like a crustacean. It started up a loping heavy footed stagger down the hall but as it continued the tendrils began to cling to metal pipes and vents giving it more speed as it traveled after her. Following the only path available Rosette ran until her legs were beginning to cramp when the path suddenly split, one passage led strait ahead while another slopped downward ant to her left.

Near the listening post Ash crept forward noting the two motion tracking devices attached to the outside of the bunker. Thankfully her training had taught her their blind spots and she slipped through without a problem until she was in a small trench dug into the base of the building. An open door was just to her left and she could hear several men discussing... "We should have kept that wench alive longer, so what if she had a kid in her belly..." Another scoffed handling something that sounded like coin. "And have another two mouths to feed out here? There's hardly enough supplies as it is. Once this damn wars over I'll be happy." With a round of agreements Ash counted five total voice patterns.

Out near the truck Alanis was to preoccupied to notice the shifting shadows behind her. A knife was suddenly pressed to her throat as she felt herself being pulled out of the vehicle, she hadn't even realized the door was open. She glanced around and saw two other slender figures in black smooth armor carrying short firearms and curved knives. "Do not cry out human, you are not our intended target. We wish to speak with you and your companion." The lead figure whispered moving the blade away and releasing her to stand between the three of them.

With a great sigh of relief Selena stands after the threat had left. Continuing forward as they saw two possible paths to take there were only two options. "We could split up to find out more however whoever is alone may not be able to get medical attention or if I'm alone you both won't. Then if we stick together we could miss some important info. Back home I have operated alone before so if anything comes up we regroup here. No engaging the enemy either this is reconissance and we are still down a member.

Alanis didn't even get the chance to scream when she was yanked out of the car and pulled outside. She was still recovering when the figures released her, but as she looked them over, taking into account their body type and armaments, Alanis came to a swift conclusion. "... You're the Eldar who took care of that squads of rebels, aren't you?" Alanis asked. "What do you want from us?"

Ash listens to the men's conversation. Guardsmen would have patrols, and they don't sound like cultists. Given the topic of their conversation, they may be PDF or guard deserters, underhive criminals or just rougher sort of refugees, hard to say. In any case, there's at least five of them, not a good odds against her even with the moment of surprise, though if they lack training, winning against them shouldn't be impossible for Ash, she's trained for this sort of thing. But there's no need to start anything- yet.

First, Ash needs to know more about them, and best chance for that right now is listening some more. Then she'll head back to Alanis, this part made easier by the fact she already knows the position of motion sensors, and decide upon next step.

Rosette's knee screamed in pain and she forced herself to run and keep running. She ducked to the left to take the side passage, with spawn accelerating it would have eventually caught her if she stayed in the main tunnel. She hoped the spawn would have to slow to take the corner for even miss it all together with it's barreling speed. She hoped the tunnel would split again, allowing her to put as many angles between her and the beast as possible.

Her mind briefly wandered back to Drath and if things may have been different if she'd brought him along.

Faye followed along behind Selena as the chimeras started to pull out of the area, constantly glancing back and wondering if they could have stormed one. She wasn't part of the Guard, nor even the PDF, so had no idea how cramped the inside could be. They stopped once they reached an inpasse. "Split up" she said simply, glancing from one door to the other. "I'm a pit fighter, I can handle myself". It also helped that she was more at home in a hive city than outside. She did chafe somewhat at the notion of holding back from attacking the enemy, after all that was what he'd been modified for. "Fine. No killing unless unavoidable"

"Alright then we'll take administrations you gt the other way." Selena signaled for the tech priest I follow as she would lead the way having her flamer ready to go for any fight they may encounter. Maybe if they were lucky Selene could find a munitions kit to use for traps and what not.
