The Market Ward
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The potion merchant gives another nod of his head to Shima and then gives her a friendly smile, "Consider it done. I thank you for your business." He reaches down under the counter this time, fumbles around a little bit, and after the clanking of some glass against glass, finally finds the rest of his stock. He draws up the four potion vials that the monk has ordered and places them on the counter for her to collect.
The by now familiar scene of the market unfolds before Greg. The potion merchant seems to be doing a brisk business, and an adventurer's supply store has a shield mage shopping there. The original potion merchant that so offended Shima and Kayleesa has vacated the Ward by now.
(Raji may now add a Rendle Area map to her equipment list)
Arcanos' Keep
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
The yellow skinned creature grits it's teeth when she makes her threat, starting to crouch low and prepare to dodge when her runes begin to glow. Yes, it seems to recognize signs of magical power. At least it didn't seem to think it could simply trump her. When she doesn't fire off the spells, the creature tells her, "Interesting enough, but only if you can prove it. Unless you can best his apprentices, a challenge with any amature spellcaster to walk the realms is a waste of the Master's time. Find a keystone and it will allow you to transcend the barrier to the second floor. If you wish to challenge Arcanos, locate the keystones to ascend or provide sufficient reason he should care." When the creature sees the two spellcasters head off towards the kitchens, the creature simply smiles to itself. It then hops back down to it's spot behind the desk once more.
The door to the kitchens opened without protest and washed Severine with a wave of oppressive, humid heat. The fires were blazing and food was on the boil. The kitchens were an extensive operation, something akin to a hotel's kitchen, except triple the size. Several cooking counters were set up along the room, and creatures were at work. Some breed of goblins was crewing this particular galley. Several of the tables had huge dead animals slapped down on top of them, goblin carvers standing on the table with wicked knives, butchering the deceased beasts. On one of the tables, vegetables were piled high, up to a full meter as goblins chopped carrots, ontions, nappa cabbage, and other vegetables in assembly line like fashion. Supervising it all was another goblin. This one however was tall, taller than an orc, and as wide as it was tall. Undoubtably filling another stereotype, this goblin chef probably ate more than his fair share of the ingredients. He carried around a rolling pin made of marble with surprising ease.
Five other exits were visible through the room, leading elsewhere through the kitchens area. Mel's lantern of course illuminated the dozen and a half kitchen workers that were milling about the kitchen in their various tasks, telling her that they were potential combatants if provoked. For now, everyone seemed too engrossed in their tasks to care that the two women had entered the kitchen.
The Briar Wood
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Vara breezed past the man in the woods swiftly, and it left him reaching a hand up to scratch his head in thought. "Strange one, that one." He then gave a shrug of his shoulders and returned to his task.
Her controlled, agressive walk through the woods brought Vara through it's darkened paths. As she was passing between some of the larger bushes with their lethal thorn walls, she could hear a rustling from above. Long armed gremlins hung down off of the tree branches. Their flesh was a mottled green and brown, helping them cameoflage with the branches. Their arms were longer than most humanoids, much like a monkeys, giving them great climbing abilities. The creatures also carried crude spears over their shoulders, easy to grab should they come to fight. For now, they simply appear overhead and start barring their teeth at Vara, an aggressive display. It gave her time to count, three in total.
Lucy, in her alternate realm, seems to be having some difficulty with her new host, Torgo. Much as she seems upset, he seems to be only slightly concerned with that fact. "If he is so old, he has very little to suffer through. Death should soon claim him. However, I suspect that will not be the outcome you are so firmly interested in achieving. You would put this old man's needs before mine, and call it justice." He shakes his head slowly, as chiding this mortal being for it's youthful foolishness. However, then he tells the mage, "I will consider sending you back, but only if you can also assist me. I am quite.... bored. This clearing is my world. It has been for centuries, and it will be for centuries more. If you can entertain me, I shall let you go about this man's task, and shall even bestow my blessing upon you." He pauses a moment, to see if she will be appropriately grateful for this chance. Regardless of her reaction though, he does press on to tell her, "I will remind you though that I am quite old, and I have seen and heard much of this world. You must give me something to dwell upon, to consider, to remember, to savour. Something appropriately wonderous, facinating, or perhaps pleasurable. If you can give me an experience that I will be satisfied with for some time, I shall release you to the mortal world once more."
Outskirts of Rendle
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
On the edge of town, Salora is able to find a clothier after a little bit of scouting. Most of the people on the edges of town are simple residents, but in amongst those houses is a building that has a sign out front identifying it as Annise's Fine Clothier. The woman who owns the shop seems to be leaning in the doorframe of the building, in fact. She certainly looks like she belongs in this game. Her long blonde hair is waist length, shining brightly wherever it catches the light. She fills out her rather low cut thin white cotton top with her ample breasts, matching Salora's own EE cup size. Her skirt drops only to about knee length and is pleated, seeming a touch reminiscent of a japanese school girl's skirt. Knee high socks and some dainty shoes round out the outfit.
When the blonde sees Salora approaching, she takes a quick look up and down the street, to make sure nobody else is watching. Then, once she's sure, she waves over to the elf and says, "Come on over here, let's get you inside. I've never seen a girl more in need of my services, and we'd better get you out of sight before anyone notices!"
The Gamboler's Ace
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Raven chuckles at the clarification from Jo and tells her, "If they were free, you'd be sorely undervaluing yourself." He takes a look down at the paper and opens it up to take a read, and his eyes read it with the look of someone discovering surprising and delightful. "Wow, so it is true..." He then looks up at Jo again, smiling at her now bashfully. "Uh, yeah, I'd definitely like to take a room. I... I like the look of the fourth and fifth there, I'd definitely, definitely, like those." He then takes a look around the room, as though anxious of being overheard before he turns back to Jo and asks, "I... I like you, and I want it to be you, but... If I were to come back some time, do the Blonde, the Red Head, and the Brunette, ah, massage too?"
Jo had inherited those NPC servers when she'd taken over the Gamboler's Ace, and thus far the girls hadn't done any of those services. At least not that Jo was aware of. Maybe they could be convinced though, if she was interested in cutting them in on her side business. Might mean a little less customers for her, but she could certainly collect a percentage of their earnings if she did it right, and maybe it would let her offer a two on one service to her list of offers.
Emerald Falls (Timth)
Spoiler (click to show/hide):
Timth had been forced to dodge many monsters to make his way to Emerald Falls. It was a big gamble, slipping ahead to the next region. Being solo just made it an even bigger one. Quest levels started at 6 and higher in this town. The experience would roll in beautifully if he could just get some kills, but until then, he was as fragile as a paper doll at a bonfire. He'd done it though, bursting through the last brushes of Briar Wood and arriving on the outskirts of Emerald Falls.
Emerald Falls is a small community, about one thousand people in total. It exists next to a long, shallow waterfall where river water rushes over an intense rapids made up of emerald green rocks. The rocks weren't truly emeralds, but the colour was right and gave the river it's beautiful hue. Back in the Beta, most of the quests in Emerald Falls seemed to revolve around bandits and the like. Everyone thought the last boss of the quest chain was going to be a bandit boss, but nobody got to them before the Beta ended.
Now was really the big choice for Timth. He could find the local tavern and see if he could schmooze for a quest, or he could seek out the Church shrine in town and bind himself to this new location. While there would be quests available through town, the tavern was always the hot spot for these kinds of things. The Church Shrine would ensure that if Timth was defeated by monsters, once he respawned he would do so in Emerald Falls, rather than back at Rendle.
