Alice lets out a soft giggle, presuming that Jason's last comment was a joke. She can feel the arousal stabbing at her mind, but she manages to ward it off for now. "The only things I hate are wars over petty discrimination, and how some would fight to the last man over them. Such ill-founded brutality is how I lost my blood-related family...and I detest the thought of others sharing that fate." The memory of that day is burned into her mind...a trauma that will never truly leave her. And yet, it's how she came to become a leader in the first place...both a blessing and a curse, so to speak.
Putting aside her past, Alice resumes checking ground level for any sign of error in the illusion. While doing so, she calls out to Jason: "Lord Argo, could you please examine the upper sections of this area? We're looking for an unseen wall, or at least something to signal a barrier in this illusion."
This scenery is quite similar to an old device of third-rate illusionists. A synthetic patch of land is set up, with a dome of tarp fabric over the top of it. At first, the audience sees only darkness, with faint signs of the fake land in the middle. Then, a series of lamps are hung near the tarp-dome's apex, lit all at once, and slowly circled around it, giving both lighting and the illusion of clouds with their white glow on the fabric. A classic trick, often used to set the stage for the more focal events. Were it not for her antsy hormones, she'd likely be able to spot an inconsistency in this illusion from the center.
